#60709, "Been meaning to post this - Edges and commentary about ..."
In response to Reply #0

Apologies for dredging up this muther-long thread but the Log Forum didn't seem to be the right place for this and I don't want it to turn into a gameplay type deal, so I thought I'd post it here. Not interested? Move along, nothing to see here.

Deep Pockets: You have Deep Pockets, capable of carrying more things.
*** Great for a fire giant. ***
Strong Back: You have a strong back, more able to bear burdens.
*** Great for a bash spec - I could carry a whopping 647 pounds! ***
Dragonslayer: You are a dragonslayer, skilled in combatting dragonkind.
*** Meh - I'm sure this helped me, but like any skill/legacy/power/edge that is automatic without any echo, I never knew when it was helping me. Still died my fair share of dragonbreath unspeak deaths. ***
Combat Statistician: You are a combat statistician, keenly analyzing battle.
*** This was cool. ***
Ehren Soul: You have an Ehren Soul, crying out for honorable combat.
*** I actually have a role entry about why Hunsobo would take this. In practice, I liked it and I am pretty sure it had a noticeable affect. It really suited my playstyle - if I had a massive gang of Imperials walking around with me, I was secretly hoping to miss a bash or something so the victim would get away. And the added benefit of anti-gang code working better in my favor was great. ***
Leader: You are a natural leader.
*** Meh. A cheap edge, taken before warrior edges went in...tough to tell when/if it was helping. ***
Lucky: You are lucky.
*** Pretty sure this didn't do much for me. But cheap! ***
Twitchy: You are one twitchy adventurer, possessing a danger sense that keeps you safe from harm.
*** Awesome edge, IMO. ***
Feign Strength: You mask well the severity your wounds from your foes.
*** Covered this one already. Thanks again Daevryn! ***
Overcome Distortion: You are resistant to sensory distortion.
*** Another one that I'm sure DID help me, but I never knew if/when. ***
Stonehearted: You are unmoved by romance.
*** Likewise. ***
Eyes in the Back of Your Head: You are wary for unseen attacks.
*** I'm not sure anyone ever tried an assassination attempt on me after taking this, so I have to reserve judgement. ***
Extra Training: You have converted your experiences to extra training.
*** This was nice when all the armor/aim skills came in. ***
Remain Conscious: You can sometimes remain conscious when others would be knocked out.
*** I got an echo once or twice that basically I'd be sleeping right now but I shrugged it off because of this edge. In reality, even one time ever in the lifetime of your char makes this edge worth it, IMO. ***
Shield Eyes: Your fighting style shields your precious eyes from harm.
*** Not sure how useful this was, as I got that piece of shiny that helped against dirt kicking and held onto it for so long. ***
Quick Healer: You heal faster than others.
*** By the time I took this my con was pretty far down already so tough to tell how well it helped. ***
Fortitude of the Flesh: You have learned how to give fortitude to your flesh, and may stave off the affects of some
wasting diseases.
*** Never died of rot after taking this. Of course, part of that is that shortly before taking this I got myself an anti-rot-suit, so YMMV. ***
Stone Shoulders: Your powerful shoulders deliver mighty bashes.
Iron Shoulders: The muscles in your shoulders surge with immense power.
*** Took these two mainly for roleplay reasons - you're a big effing giant who has (by this time) bashed about 180 people into the ground, and you DON'T take these? But the added damage was cool, too, and may have actually helped seal a kill here or there (doing an extra 20 or so damage every 3 rounds "for free" is nice) ***
Furious Whirlwind: Your flurries strike like a whirlwind of death, striking all those who attack you.
*** This edge was my own idea, but I'd never take it a second time with Hunsobo. My thought when I took it was that I'd probably end up fighting Hell mobs (which often means fighting multiple mobs at once) but I don't think I ever went back after taking this. I rarely used flurry in a PK if I was fighting multiples - the chance of being evaded and then sitting there with my thumb up my ass for 4 rounds just wasn't worth it. ***
Gift to the Departed: You have learned to deliver more frequent parting blows.
*** Nice. ***
Seven Winds of Hamsah Mu'tazz: Your ripostes are merciless like the desert wind.
*** Also nice. Probably nicer on someone who riposted more, but nice. ***
Brutal Jab: Your brutal jabs power through defenses.
*** I had a hard time deciding whether to take this or not, and boy am I glad I did. Combined with vital area to weaken my opponent, my jabs landed about as often as a human sword spec (prior to that, jab was completely useless even against mobs - missing 4 out of 5 makes it worth less than doublethrust). ***
Battle Tested: Like a veteran soldier, you can fall asleep quickly after combat.
*** Nice - sleeping a little earlier is important when you have low con and need to rest hp (and low int and need to rest mana). ***
Relentless Assault: Your knowledge of rescuing techniques allows you to press a relentless assault.
*** Took this really late in life - saw it work about 20 minutes after taking it, though - Juliane failed to rescue someone from me like 3 times, ending in that person either fleeing or dying (whereas Juliane would have eaten me alive with concealed attacks). ***

Ultimately, you would have slaughtered me.

I always assumed that you had different hours to me. Howevever, given the appearances you made about me (in imm form), I realise now that you separated your mortal character from your immortal responsibilities. For that, I thank you, because Hunsobo was always going to me way more than a match for Victoria, but rp would have forced me to die to you.

I freely admit that Hunsobo was always going to tear me apart when we flashed. Only character I never came up with a good solution for. Every plan involve about a 1% change of success with about 99% change of death.

Just a wild guess, and it worked.
My claim to fame is I made you flee two or three times, making you drop your swords, and I remember one fight where I got you to writhing, all without the head. That day, and every day thereafter you kicked my ass eventually. I felt a bit sore the way you bashed the crap outta me but seeing the level of the player I guess I did pretty good.
I really like it when the imms play chars. Cabdru, Kharghurlrn, Hunsobo, they have all enriched my cfing experience and that of others too.
Just a shout out. Screw the naysayers. Make a policy of having atleast one imm played char. It raises the entire game environment and is a lot of fun. We get to see great gear in action, great rp, great pking and to square off against challenging opponents.
Saying good work is like saying good pick to warren buffet on his stock portfolio.
Was good great fun.

Fwiw, my guess was Arvam.

Knew it wasn't Daevryn because they interacted. Wasn't Zulgh because Zulgh was involved in Emperor selection. Wasn't Kastellyn because he'd just played Khargurln. Hunsobo seemed too "nice" to be Sebeok. Seemed to have that same sort of devil-may-care vibe that I got from Lariya when I was running around w/ her.

I liked Kharghurln and Hunsobo, but didn't like Cabdru. It was obvious Khar and Huns played those characters because they wanted to try the role and class plus have fun.

Cabdru just seemed like he wanted to prove he can still beat the crap out of every player in CF at one time. Doesn't make it fun for the rest of us.

What I would really like to see now is 3-4 immortals on opposite sides beating the crap out of each other. It just doesn't seem like the elite players cross paths enough.

I doubt he created Cabdru for the reasons you list. Chars evolve. As I said in my own goodbye, I didn't ever intend to hit 40 - Hunsobo was supposed to be a throwaway "help-out-Draktel-'cuz-he's-always-alone" char. We see how that worked out.

Also I happen to know that Nep held off playing Scion/Imperial chars when he had a little bit of urge to do so, simply because at the time, Hunsobo, Kharghurln, Waserax, Ktaar, Seriistian, Kanaev, Haratzi, and more were powerful.

I'd still like to know who played that arial fortress whip spec dude whose name I can't remember. He seemed to kick me around pretty well, then auto-deleted.

Hot damn, what a ride. By far my longest-lived mortal. The only other char I can remember not deleting was Maclochlan, who con-died. Lots of fun, lots of frustration, lots of very soft swearing so as not to wake the baby late at night.

Hunsobo was originally built to sorta levelsit at level 30 and retrieve for Draktel. As Twist (and some as Droba) I watched Draktel constantly battle ridiculously bad odds night in and night out. I wanted to help him have a chance, since he just kept on truckin'. My thought was a fire giant at level 30 could probably get two noremove swords, kill the red dragon, and have a nifty damroll to smack down outer guards.

Well, Draktel promoted me pretty quick for just the above, but he also ordered me to keep leveling because there were open Elite spots. So that sorta shot down that idea. But I thought well, I can still just levelsit at 40 to help retrieve, right?

Well, got to level 40 and didn't like the thought of levelsitting. We had no War Master, and I had a favorable shot of getting it. Two others (Qileor and Kargthak) were also gunning for it. Qileor got it, but by that time I was level 46 and decided it was Hero or Bust.

The rest is sorta history. I have almost every moment of Hunsobo's hero life logged, as well as a good deal of pre-hero stuff. I will admit to shamelessly starting a log board here for selfish reasons - I want to post these logs.

I'll also admit that I'm thinking "ABOUT DAMN TIME" on the agedeath thing. The past couple weeks (yes, even before I lost some of my gear) I've been wishing agedeath would come faster. I could have gone the cheap way and worn some +age gear, but I wanted to truly age death a char. I've actually had some of this pre-written for a long time.

On Courage: I know some folks think I didn't take enough risks or what have you. I think some of that perception may have merit, but some may be skewed for various reasons:
I made a bargain with Daevryn shortly after a Hell trip. I gave him a very valuable (in gold) Hell item in exchange for "sometin' from yous." I let him decide what it would be. I was hoping for one of the Empire edges (there's a couple that help you with all the various needs for gold you have as an Imperial). He gave me a different Edge that was both a blessing and a curse (though more of a blessing, IMHO): "Feign Strength." Basically this Edge made me look way better off if you were fighting me than I was. Got me to gushing? I was probably convulsing. Bleeding wounds? Writhing or gushing. And so on. This Edge was great in that it added to the aura that Hunsobo had (so I tried to keep it uber, uber secret, which often lead to out-of-group healers not healing me enough) .

Unfortunately, it also made me look like a big coward at times, I'd say. Wording out of fights where "both of us" were at 50%...except I wasn't at 50%, I was at 15%...that sort of thing.

Now that's not to say I didn't play it safe. I did, plenty. But I'd also try to mix it up a lot, too...so nobody knew what to expect. It seemed to work out in the end.

On Emperor-dom. I think we Imms need to come up with something more for the Emperor to do than "go gather all of your items." Current Imperials saw a note from me about a week ago about "Project Makesmash" but yeah...age-deathing an emperor probably shouldn't consist of 200 nights straight of login, retrieve, get other cabal items, try to find someone to kill, logoff.

On ganging: Hunsobo the char had a bit of reservation against ganging, mainly from his "upbringing" by Draktel. But in the same sense, the world was largely enemies or Imperials (Tribs and Imperial-friendly uncaballeds aside) and by god if you were an enemy he wanted to kill you. Me the player? Meh. I don't like ganging. And contrary to what someone recently said to me, it wasn't "all about the kill." Hopefully Armonk will attest to this, as a recent char that I walked past on several occasions instead of bashing. Yes, if I'd never killed you and had no reliable way of making you stick around to fight or something like that, I'd shamelessly gang you. Most of the time, though, it was either gang v. gang or one v. one.

On bashing: If it works, use it. Sorry if you didn't like getting bashed into the ground, but bash alone doesn't win the fight (Xenillia (sp?) can attest to that. Damn you Waserax.) However bash is great at making sure nobody does something that might make me lose the fight and/or get away. So yeah, if I could bash you, I did.

On roleplay: I feel like I did a pretty good job playing this role. It's definitely an archetypal role (big dumb giant warrior) but I tried to put a spin on it with the malaprops and sexual innuendo (those poor slavegirls) that made Hunsobo WAYY more fun to play than Gurgthock (who was also fun, but in different ways). My only wish is that I'd have managed to be more consistent with speech - I look back at some logs from 6-7 months ago and I'm saying stuff I'd never say now. I did stuff like calling Balator by its right name and then calling it "Balatorment" or "Balatorials". I could justify that with reasoning like "I did that to throw people off" or something but the bottom line is I tried to throw stuff in like that whenever I could, but sometimes forgot. At least I almost ALWAYS managed to call Outlanders "'fugees."

On the uberset: When I think about that set and realize I'll probably never have any char that is that well-geared, it makes me sad. But I used it really well, IMHO, and had a lot of fun. The funny thing is the set was about half-gathered and half-pked-for. Before Hunsobo I honestly didn't know where the strange bracers (for instance) came from. I half-remembered where Humansunder was/is, but it took Draktel leading me there (pre-War Master I think) on a miserably failed attempt to get it for HIM to show me for real. The gauntlets? Heard about them from Athellnon (Or Restinan? I forget.) Cloak? Heard about it from Thos. I learned a TON with this char. Even some wand locations (and places to check with future chars for sleeks..."why is there a chest in this room that's always empty?"

Goodbyes will follow - when you play a char for nearly 900 hours, you rack up a lot of goodbyes. It'll take me a while, and I'm going to forget a ton of people. I apologize in advance. Bring your name up and I'll respond if I do forget ya. I tried to make an ongoing list of people who *strongly* affected ol' Hunsobo's life - so while you'll see a Kholav, a char from several months ago that helped me get my first Humansunder, you probably won't see a Paskat, who didn't interact a ton with Hunsobo (but enough to get an "honorable mention" in this post).

Lastly, thanks to everyone - imms and mortals alike, for making CF kick so much butt.

Tribunals:
Kholav - Man, you saved Hunsobo's life in more than ways than one, on several occasions. A lot of folks thought we were "joined at the hip" but, well, Hunsobo frequently walked around with "one other guy" while getting eq/raiding/etc. You and I rarely PK'd together, ever. Thanks a million, you made Hunsobo's early life good, and kept me from deleting on several occasions just by existing.
Taqutin - Thanks for the help all those times Team Fort had a big ol' posse waiting for me to retrieve. You were badass.
Bawgor - Similar to Kholav, thanks a bunch. You helped me gather several shinies, and you were always up for exploring/gold gathering/helping me retrieve if it didn't compromise the Spire.
Nuloh - We weren't together a lot...once you built up your big unholy, it seemed like if you and I were both on, most enemies in our range weren't. There was that time on eastern (I think you posted the log)...that was pretty kickass.
Maethron - Hated you (but in a good way!). Killing you that time after you had knocked me out, robbed me blind, and then left me felt *sooo* good.
Izuhlzin - My most recent Trib ally. Thanks for everything - we got a few together, heh.
Several others - Thanks for being an ally against the "'fugees"

What can I say... I was always impressed with Hunsobo, what a monster. We did not have much chance to interact besides random neetings raiding on the refuge or me showing up to try to catch a criminal while you were beating villager on the village.

Stand at the massive giant with two or three ragers in range is somethin that stills amaze me. Great job and great adittion to the game in therms of role play and example facing bad odds.

Congratulations and return fast as mortal, you are already missed.

Empire:
Draktel - As I said above, Hunsobo was created to help you out. You were very badass, and a good Emperor. A good role model. The only thing I didn't like was you'd go out and take all the cabal items and then immediately logoff, leaving myself and maybe one or two low-levels to try to defend. I don't have a suggestion of what to do differently - if you only have an hour to play, you only have an hour to play. It just sorta sucked, is all.

Vezrith - Man, you were *this* close to beating me out for War Master, and then you like stopped showing up! WTF? Anyways we had some good times.

Kharghurln - Said a lot in your goodbye thread, but bottom line is you kicked a lot of butt, and it was great running with you the very few times we could.

Waserax - The yin to my yang (Hunsobo would have some joke involving a malaprop for yang here). The Rocky to my Bullwinkle. The Ren to my Stimpy. You, quite simply, made Hunsobo worth continuing to play. If I hadn't been pretty damn close to age death myself when you died, I might have just lost interest and deleted shortly thereafter. I know you took some #### for being the "summon/dispel guy" to my bashman, but god dammit I knew, as Twist, that you were on way more often than Hunsobo and you fought by yourself plenty. Great character, great ally, and closest thing that Hunsobo had to a "friend." (Yet I still couldn't completely trust you 100% (the vote for Emperor) which is totally how Evil "friends" should be, IMO.)

Nastagio - Tough char, dropped off the face of the earth, again, what happened?

Thos - You helped me rebuild after I lost one of my really nice sets. That whole Hell thing absolutely sucked (the thing that made you lose your big unholy). I think you'd have given me a good run for my money to get Emperor.

Tragnor - Solid Blade, I liked you a lot. The only bad thing was it seemed like everyone (Fort, Ragers, etc.) always aimed for you first in any group situation, so you were always dead and I'd escape/kill them. Good for me, but must have sucked for you. Sorry about that!

Hijrak - One of many many Blades, but you get a mention here because you were in on the kill of Kanaev that netted me one of my most invaluable shinies.

Seriistian - Man what happened to you? One day Shadow Lord, riding high with a good set and mad skillz. Next day anathema?

Ahiviln - Lead the trip that got me my gloves. And showed me several other things. Thanks!

Shalif - Part of the above trip, IIRC. At least, part of several Hell trips. And then disappeared. Le sigh.

Vryaeth - Not sure why you deleted, but thanks for the help with stuff. I could tell you were new, but you did pretty well IMO.

Adomalik - Where the hell'd you go?

Ktaar - You quite simply kick ass. Thanks for the vote, and the "good smashin'". I sincerely hope you get Emplified, you deserve it.

Zarilia - I think you got a raw deal on the High Priestess thing. But I didn't watch you other than as Hunsobo, and the DLoE (Dark Lords of Empire) see all. Too bad about you deleting. Hope you were ok with me making you anathema. "Your life is not yours, it is the Empire's to take."

Siilthlyzrin - Thanks for the help in recent times, regathering what I lost.

Tagerung - I didn't think you deserved to be War Master until today when you killed those two. That sorta made me reconsider.

Dyrin - I did think you deserved to be War Master, and still do (too bad only one can be it). You didn't have the required level, and the code wouldn't permit me to promote anyone until about 11:30 system time anyways.

And finally, to all you Oaths and such that would delete three days after I would promote you? Screw ya.

I have never met a character like Hunsobo, throughout the years I've played CF. This character was like a "Fortcouer that can PK". Hunsobo was a pure catalyst. The kind of character that would log in when 5-6 enemies are online, and suddenly you feel like the odds are even - honestly, people talk about those chars, but I have never had an ally like that before. I thought highly of Kharg, as well, but honestly, Hunsobo was one of a kind. Voting for you was actually very difficult for a number of reasons that I can't really go into (i.e. role). And my goals in that vote were mixed, as well, for those same reasons. Putting that aside, I can say that I thought you with Emperor powers would be sick and unbalanced and make things boring for you and whatever enemies stayed logged in, but on the flip side, I honestly felt like you deserved it because of the presence you brought. Afterwards I read some post by Dwoggurd saying that the Imperial voting system was broken because no one in their right mind would vote for the "strongest" challenger to the Throne - and I just tossed that in with my mixed feelings and goals re that vote. But you were very clever with your take on imperial politics, if not ruthless and machiavellian.

Anyway. This was a truly impressive character, and the most impressive cabal leader I have seen, and likely will ever see. I'll look forward to your next mort

The feeling was mutual in more ways than you knew. Yeah, I know that when Hunsobo would log on (especially toward the end), people felt like "ok, now we're talkin'" but in reality it was just me fairly often, too. Just that one other impressive presence (read: Ktaar) made me feel warm and fuzzy, like "even if some massive scion gang comes and takes the Codex, they won't have it for long."

Of course I know your role reasons for/against voting for Hunsobo (I *did* run that role contest, after all...heh) but of course Hunsobo didn't know about your role, so he was blissfully oblivious. That said, it didn't mean he *trusted* you to vote for him...this is Empire, after all.

Draktel was blessed to have Hunsobo and Vezrith around the same time. Qileor was fairly strong in some ways, but I knew he was in the pocket of the High Priest. So I promoted him and told him basically. (When Hunsobo or Vezrith get older, they get to try and kill you for it.) That attempt at Humansunder was fun, but we needed an invoker for sure. Oh yeah, that was the first time I ever fought that guy, I had just always heard he was ruthless. I think you made a great Imperial and did a good job. I hear you on the guys deleting on you after being promoted!

As for other things I said with other characters, some of it was out of frustration. I've played a few characters that are gang happy, but I think those are few and far between. I grew up in Battle under Nimbus and thats always going to be a part of my style, unless I work hard to go away from it. All that to say some of my comments were skewed by that mindset. The kind of thinking where you have the sweetest set I've ever seen, but sometimes it seemed like that wasn't enough...though it was. That edge thing is interesting. Does the code know to let someone try and disembowel?

Anyway, great job, I knew it was an IMM char (or uber player) long ago, though some people didn't believe me. It had nothing to do with the set either, but everything to do with your ability and knowledge of skills and such.

I wouldn't say you've said anything mean. You've said things you honestly felt, and I can't fault you for it. I do think you saw (with Hunsobo-enemy-chars) some of the worst parts of Hunsobo WRT to ganging/courage/etc. though. Martanis, with swarm, fiend, blurrysong, etc., was not going to see a solo-Hunsobo-raid, that's for damn sure. Aomiern and I fought a couple times toe to toe. Tromish, well, as I said, I wasn't happy about how that worked out, but it was all "heat of the moment" type stuff.

Excellent character. I was continually astounded at how you managed to keep up the Hunsobo-speak so consistently. I've tried that before with various characters, and eventually the sheer effort of it starts to get on my nerves.

One funny thing: you mentioned being annoyed at Draktel about how he'd take all the items then quit. At times, I felt a little similar towards you. That's how much influence you had. As long as you were online, nobody would bother to come retrieve. As soon as you quit, they'd all descend. The annoying thing about that is that usually I usually wanted to quit too, but had to stick around and defend to avoid looking like a total wuss. Partly because our quit-times coincided as much as our start-times, but also because it just wasn't as interesting once you left.

All I can say is: keep playing morts.

Yeah as I mentioned after that comment about Draktel, you can only play as long as you have to play. I tried to avoid leaving folks in the lurch but wasn't always successful.

If it's any consolation, there were nights when you quit first and I was in the same exact spot that you talk about - and w/o you there to summon/dispel, a lot of the enemies lost any "Hunsobofear" they might have had.

Well what can I say? This doesn't surprise me one bit. Its been a long time since I've seen you play a mortal. I believe you used to kick me around with a certain Paladin back in the day. But to whats current.

Inthulnizra: I Oathed you a HELL of a long time ago at the Church of Khasotholas. Where I believe you knelt before her and swore your alliegence thrice to the Empire, Her and Khasotholas. Yet you became an Iunna follower I geared you to the teeth in your younger years, then you vanished.

Nezlintryzn: Thanks for coming to Hell. You were a huge asset to that party and I wish you could have come further down with us. From what I saw of you then, I was beginning to suspect something. Good roleplay, beyond good PK. And a knack for knowledge of special shinies. I wish you could have been around more with Nezlintryzn.

Overall: One God Damn amazing character. Your beastliness among all other things was just wrong. I'll agree with whoever said that Hunsobo was the Cabdru of Fire Warriors.

Hijrak - One of many many Blades, but you get a mention here because you were in on the kill of Kanaev that netted me one of my most invaluable shinies.

And I also think its funny you give me recognition when all I did was walk in and pincer when Kanaev was basically dead, I believe. If I had only picked one legacy different, I probably wouldn't have lost interest in Hijrak as fast as I did.

Hope you keep pumping out amazing chars, and we can be on the same side again. Fighting you just isn't as fun as running with you.

As I said, it didn't bother me you Anathemizing me. Honestly, thought you should have slain me there as well and was surprised you let me walk away. Made it so it wasn't a "Rage Delete". I will echo one of your sentiments though, about the constant raiding, and the one time we log on, and go to do something besides gathering cabal items, we are yanked and scolded at. That was more... annoying then anything else I could think of. That was the turning point of the game being more of a job then something fun to log onto and do. And now I know who the player was, I am not surprised in the least of the skill and art you brought to the game. Good luck with your next! And open up a religion for priests to join!!!!

I was never big on anathing someone and then killing them. While it was tempting to kill you (because I knew you'd let me) to "padd the pkwin record", I tried to avoid any "padding-for-the-sake-of-padding."

The scolding was annoying, yeah. Probably warranted though! At least we pulled off that raid immediately after, killing 3 (sorry you died there too...that probably didn't help your enjoyment either! )

We did have some good times. I still remember that fight for War Master, and I'm still pretty convinced that if you didnt have tactics I would have won. Regardless, you wore the title well. Thanks for giving me War Master like you promised. I had hoped to have more time to play it out and re-kindle the flame that was Vezrith, but it didnt seem to work out so well.. Sorry to let you down, but real life always beats out CF in the long run. Well played, see you in the fields--however briefly.

It was fun hanging out with such a quality player (RP and PK wise) even if it was for only a short time. Such is life that every time I have a character where I really start to feel comfortable, my time drops to zero and I have to let them go. Your malapropisms were truly hilarious, and my biggest regret from that character is probably not being around for more of them.

Hope I run across you in another incarnation sometime... There is much I could learn.

A good character. Rolling around with you was awesom, the pure PK power coupled up with absolutely hilarious roleplay made for an amazing experience. I can distinctly remember this one time when you promoted a fire giant, and then told him to stop talking stupid, and instead talk 'intelligibles like Hunsobo'. All around good times.

Eulinda - Fun fights. Neither of us got the other, I don't think (unless you got the last hit in the Palace with the rest of them, I don't recall).

Drakgrak - You were cool. Some good fights.
Taelina - Battle bards suck for bashspecs. Bleh.
Yean - See Taelina.
Vhloughvang - I liked our interplay. Too bad the 'truce' didn't work out.
Brinkmun - Nice work getting the kill. I'd forgotten about cutoff. Then I fled the wrong way. Then I panicked. Ah well.
Armonk - Said most of what I wanted to in-game, but nice work on a standup char.

Basically if the char doesn't want to remove the weapon, the only way to get a nodisarm weapon away from someone is to pry it from their cold, dead fingers.

Which reminds me of a possible bug, there, that I need to bring up.

1 in the Palace to 3 or 4 of you raiding (stupid - didn't have a return potion in my inventory (forgot to grab out of my container) and got maledicted dex-wise too much to grab it out. That plus entwine killed me.

1 to Trurkrag at Centurions - he hit me with two DB's in rapid succession.

1 to a fiend from Taelina or Yean.

I snooped him during that fight. He had others coming to try to kill you to salvage his unholy, and had Centurions set up, but you used his own gold (from his corpse) to pay your way past the Centurions and out.

Lanning - I have to ask...Truck/Trouble, was that you?
Xinrithil - Quite simply one of the classiest acts I've ever encountered on CF. I wish you nothing but the best.
Martanis - Sorry you didn't think I was ballsy enough against you. That time I escaped both you and Xinrithil in Prosimy had my heart pumping like mad, though.
Zekaris - The rot-and-run tactic was semi-unfun but completely understandable. Other than that I enjoyed the interactions (and smashin') we had.
Linaeren - Another very classy act. And very smoove takedown, I must say. Not so smoove walking into a noexit though.

If my count is correct, Hunsobo killed Xin around 28 times. The one time I killed you, I almost deleted, for I had determined then my character's life was complete. Once you became Emperor I was far more cautious fighting you, for your damage output was increased!!?! Argh! and your newfound sight negated the Outlander's signature power chameleon, so I couldn't simply hide from you after you kicked my posterior, I had to run far, far away. Great times, great roleplay, and I'll miss you. GLWYN.

I did notice a reluctance to fight from you after I got Emplified, and I can't say as I blame you. For one, you'd done what you needed/wanted to - killed me.

It was too bad we didn't get more chances to talk after that - just seemed like there was no more "just Xin and Hun, without a lot of stuff going on." You're fighting the Trib horde, and I'm fighting the Fort horde, and we're each screwing with each other's fighting, and that's about it.

Anyways you really are a great char. Keep it up!

That one time I got you, was not necessarily smooth, you failed shove twice in a row. I've went over that log many many times. Thank you army of rangers for making that possible. Knowing about that edge now makes all of that make a lot more sense. Unlike Xinrithil, taking you down helped to keep me from deleting. 1 win against you for dying/running countless times before? I'll take it!

That noexit, my jaw hit my desk. But with you all over my ass for 30+ minutes straight with barely time to heal I was bound to make a mistake sooner or later, I just couldn't believe it was that. It was funny at least. Can't believe you trusted me to take that cloak off.

I'm sad Hunsobo is gone. The only thing I'm happy about is I won't have the difficulty of wanting to hang out with Hunsobo affecting my RP.

Please make another mortal soon. Preferably something a little more "green".

Was our fairly long set of skirmishes where you'd keep fleeing after maledicting...finally I had to go heal off the thornheart. When I came back, I switched the swords out for fists and caught you completely off-guard (I think?). With sigil and you having no preps besides prot_metals (I'm guessing?) that was some sick damage.

You ok with that log going up while you're still alive?

I still can't believe you returned all the stuff you returned. I hope others do the same for you (though it seems like the nicer you are to some folks, it doesn't matter, they still loot you or let someone else loot you).

That is exactly what happened. And I don't mind, post any logs you want. I can tell you how they all end except for that one where I actually win and one other time when you ran after a couple sunrays (I thought you were at half health). Stone skin was never even helpful because of sigil.

You were fun to fight and to have around in general, best way to keep someone around and in the mood to mix it up is to not leave them naked. I don't really care if the favor is returned, I can always do them dirty too if I think they deserve it.

I should have logged the times we fought. Most of the time, the odds were just lousy for me numbers wise, so the rot and run tactic was more like, rot, one round later down to 30%...I need to run! Even with an edge or two to help, mithril humansunders against a half-drow who was prepped was still some nasty business. And even when I had help, you would just beat the crap out of me with your fists.

The one time I thought I had a chance while we were fighting, I didn't use the rot and had prepped up pretty good. It was sort of one on one and you left the tree. Five minutes later you came back with a few tribs. Can't blame you there, I was just sort of hoping to weaken you and get the insects on you.

That being said, I just thought you were an all-around class act character who was a pleasure to interact with.

I have pretty much all of the fights we had logged (though I usually only make note of deaths or really interesting stuff). Want me to post them?

Yes you had rotten numbers against you almost always, so as I said I can't blame you one bit for rotting (and then running usually out of necessity).

I had pretty low con but never died to rot after I went and got a "+con set" (after dying to Kanaev's devil that rotted me for like 32 hours or some sick amount).

I really like Zekaris as a char. Keep up the good work!

I as a player had great respect for you. When I said it was 'all about the kill' it was definitely just Vharilius trying to strike back for his death with stinging words.

Looks like it worked a little if I got a mention in the good-byes.
I was definitely surprised when the two of you did come and kill me while I was fighting Izuhlzin, but the fact that I got my things back did speak volumes for your classiness, since Izuhlzin probably wouldn't have returned much without you making him. I did apologize for it later too, so I hope it didn't make you feel too bad, though I'm sure it didn't.

Good luck with the next, and very well done from both a pk and rp perspective.

>>, you probably won't see a Paskat, who didn't interact a ton with Hunsobo (but enough to get an "honorable mention" in this post).

Yay, I got mentioned! Anyway, you and I had kind of an uneasy relationship when I played Paskat. I ended up interacting with you again with my 4 followup chars, sometimes as a friend, others as a foe, and you were top notch all of the way. When I think about who you were, it makes sense. I think you and I have somehow managed to strike up similar relationships over the last decade or so and I didn't figure it out until after you were gone.

Anyway, I'll save the rest for when my current char deletes. Good job with another successful Imperial reign.

Edimus - I really thought your char was fantastic. Hunsobo thought you were odd.
Kanaev - Scary mofo. Taking you down the times I did (with help) was always exhilirating. Being taken down, too, actually.
Criles - Said most of my stuff to you in your goodbye thread, but nice work.
Sekhuroth - Scary. Basically a couple of things were scary for H to walk around, once I had a good set: necros and ap's. Pwk/cleave FTW!
Zentril - When I killed you at the Archmage, I got done with it and thought to myself WTF was I doing? That could have ended very badly for me.
Aomiern - That fight when I worded and you chased me down, I had 1 hp left when the hold person wore off.
Laviter - Good fights, good conversation. Too bad I never got you outside of that time with Ktaar.
Salvrazzar - You were pretty scary too. Then you disappeared. What happened?
Drezen - You seem pretty damn badass. Keep kickin' Fort's butt!
Rettis - You were sort of an enigma. Which is good for a Scion I guess!
Ravon - Scary in the same was as Sekhuroth. Anytime I saw you coming after that first attempted cleave I was spamming one-round-lag spells to make sure you couldn't try again.

Hunsobo did to me what I have done to a few people, which is spank them around and leave them wondering what the hell they could do to beat you. Only, when I do it to people they can come back stronger and whoop my ass (re: Juliane). When you did it to me I realized I probably had no chance of taking you solo, though I am stubborn and I will damn well try!

I wanted to fight you on more "even" terms, but that would mean you would have to lose some special gear, and once that happened we just did not have another chance to have it out.

I was sad to hear that you had died, even though you were indomitable in our battles. It is like when a lich dies, or a really strong AP. Part of you is thrilled, while the other part knows that the "interesting-level" of the game just took a hit.

That time I smacked you in Hamsah...it was really just something the character would do, not the player. As the player, I knew I'd probably get destroyed, but Drezen has more balls than me. Too bad Siloreelo walked in and screwed it all up!

You were definitely a role model for any warrior, imperial, fire giant, cabal leader, and/or brutal womanizer in the game.

By the way, "Pleasuresmash" will always stick in my mind. Damned hilarious.

Pleasuresmash, and other Hunsoboisms, will appear in a log (more likely several small logs), to break the monotony of bashbashbashbashgetall.coinscorpse logs.

One in particular I'm going to try to post as soon as I can find it is a conversation between Hunsobo and Waserax over CB regarding Waserax saying that the Divine Sect is merely attempting to "stoke your zeal" to Hunsobo.

You can imagine how Hunsobo interpreted that.

Usually as far as giants go, they are usually easy pickings for invokers you were an exception to the rule and usually roughed me up pretty good.
How Close was that <<<ERADICATE>>> pillar to killing you when your cloak saved you that time? My jaw dropped when I hit that damage on you, so I obviously needed to cast it again...

As for that time with Ktaar, blerg.
Two ragers, I start and get wanted, flee out because lowbie manacles is bad, and flight falls just as I hit the docks, trip fest!
Never did get you back for that, oh well.

And had I died I'd have felt REALLY stupid for not using the AMS prep I had in my inventory.

Thanks. I liked Hunsobo pretty well, though we didn't interact too much. I remember about one good fight we had, though it's entirely possible you bashed me down and I forgot the occasion. At some point people began saying the equivalent of "oh noes, hunsobo is here, let's not fight empire" and that was sad, so I always had it in mind that I wanted to go fight you, though somehow it didn't end up happening that much.

We didn't fight much, and you were the beast I expected to face when we finally tangled that one time. I should have waited for my fellow kill-Hunsobo conspirator... but I'm an impatient person and the potions were quaffed, the pills eaten, and the weapons wielded.

In retrospect, I don't actually think I could have won, but it would have been fun to try anyway. Bash legacy + auto-disarm is cruel. Good job man, you were scary.

Then I remember as Lezram all the #### you did for me there, and I looked up to you like no other, in fact all my smattering of imperials I rolled up because 'I think Hunsobo might need the help'..but you never did.

I'm sure I fought you as other chars, but those are the two that stand out. This was a fabulous character and I congratulate you on a job damn well done.

I think my first interaction with your chars was when Gharral wanted to have his last fight be against Hunsobo. At the time I was like "who the hell is Gharral?"

I always wondered, actually, whenever someone fairly new to hero ranks would be seemingly unafraid of coming to retrieve or fight me on eastern solo, if it was you.

Enarn - Prick. Hated you. You suck. (All IC of course. OOC nice work!)
Itholin - You were always annoying when H was comin' up in the ranks. Especially when I couldn't see through your improved invis.
Zephon - Class act, enjoyed interacting with you.
Acek - Same as Zephon. That "last duel" when you thought you were going to con-die was somewhat amusing to me, in an OOC manner. Heh.
Mendecirith - "Bah, it's just Mendecirith. I've bashed the hell out of WTF??? He's kicking my ass!" Virtues help a lot, eh?
Nilian - You were tough.
Miko - You maybe figured this out, but what I told you about Humansunder wasn't true. I just didn't want you to continue to attempt to assassinate me.
Marigue - You were slippery and tough.
Hrudgir - Classy, ballsy, etc. Nice work.
Desorian - Dude. Righteousness. Read the helpfile, seriously!
Aethirmeis - Enjoyed the fights, you seemed semi-suicidal though?
Vassten - You were about to become really powerful, I think, but then stopped showing/deleted.
Mersiliat - Ditto Vassten.
Niheriva - Enarn was Hunsobo's antithesis for the first part of his life. Mendecirith for the middle. You for the last. Keep on truckin'.
Thoric - Where are you? Good fights, good chats.
Kyraea - Elf Dagger spec with STSF. Ouch.
Queliryon - Scary-ass elf dagger spec with STSF. Super-ouch. Also, hugely classy after our last fight. Thanks.
Niela - Completely not scary alone, and completely scary and annoying as hell when backing up anyone else.
Juliane - Elf dagger spec but not as scary as the above two. Still beat me around good though.
Soayel - ####ing healers.
Mesashian - Good fights, much respect.

As a player, I completely agree with you about the ganging thing. However, because of my dislike of ganging, I probably avoided *trying* to gang you when it would have been the only way to actually kill you.

You were awesome, though. In every respect of Emperor-hood, you were, by far, the scariest I've fought in a long, long time.

#60371, "That Kiadana Fight"
In response to Reply #47

Fighting elf dagger specs was probably the most difficult thing for Hunsobo. Fighting STSF elf dagger specs was the worst. So when I saw you coming for me while I was resting off spores/thornheart in Kiadana, I was like "####."

I prepped with whatever I had handy quick, and it was a fairly even fight for the first couple rounds. Then I could almost hear a whirring in my head as you "sped up" and started dodging everything I threw while forcing me to eat a 9 course meal of concealeds.

So I put in q return and then like my gloves fired or I had a particularly good (damage-wise) round which brought you down to about 25% or so, and then my q return kicked in.

From your side (when you posted the log) it looked like I worded at 50%ish. And the complaints started to come out about Hunsobo being a big wuss who never stuck around to fight.

In reality, with the Feigned Strength edge, I was at I think 15% when the q return went through.

*** Caveat: My numbers aren't necessarily exact. I'll try to find the log from my side and post it here. ***

I do appreciate that you sorta "stuck up" for me over there though!

I died to you more than a few times and never killed you once. However, there was no time that I fought you and lost that I was really upset because every fight was epic, fun, classy, and fair.

The best feeling in the world, though, was where I nearly repelled you (as Emperor) and Waserax from the Fortress (three times?) and you said to me sometime during it, "You're doing a good job!" I suppose you're not supposed to feel elated by your enemies lifting up your spirits, but you had that effect on me as a player. Really, really great character. I'll always remember Hunsobo.

I still can't believe you traded me Humansunder in exchange for me ordering all of the Blades to return Soayel's gear. You had several RP angles to get out of that and say "#### no." ("I'll not barter with you, fiend." being one of them). But you stuck to your role as an Acolyte, not a Maran, and performed a truly charitable act (giving up one of the best weapons in the game for you, short of Defiance, and receiving literally nothing for yourself in return).

Classy.

I supposed having a mention here with these particular words means what I think... LOL

I s*ck at PK, but I think I made your life a little harder most of the time.

You and Waserax together were my plague... Dispel+Bash = Dead healer. Fortunately for me, I don't know how many times I fled with under 50hp in those circumstances.

You were a tough bastard, very competent and very good RP. I was sure you were an Imm.

I laughed for a while when I was alone at the Fortress and you tried, alone, to take the Orb. It went for a while until you left and said something like you would take it later... And what made made it even funnier was that you mixed "Orb" with "Codex". These littles mistakes you'd do when typing was actually helping get your "big dumb giant" thing. Heh.

You were really a beast to fight because you adapted your fighting as you stacked hours into the char. In the end, you'd know to knock me down with hand specs instead to focusing elsewhere with humansunders, and it actually made the fights a lot better and we all had to plan new strategies... Yours worked better, but still.. heh

Two thumbs up ! And come back with a goodie next time. :p

Yeah it wasn't so much that I adapted my strategies, it was that as Hunsobo I always tried to gear for not having to worry about being disarmed. And early on, I didn't have nodisarm weapons, so they were noremove, and so in mid-fight trying to switch to fists and crushingblow/stun wasn't an option.

And yeah I remember mixing up Orb and Codex. I think I said something after that like "Yous know whut Hunsobo meants."

For your uncanny ability to bash me into the dirt, Marigue often referred to you as 'the meatgrinder'. Unfortunately, sure footing never saved my tailfeathers from you, most likely due to the nerfing caused by flight.

Could you please post the log where you camped outside the Fortress, under the assumption that I had the Codex? I think it was the only fight that I ever caused any substantial damage to you, so I have to wonder if I managed to catch you AFK or something.

Marigue was actually one of the most solid (and hard to kill) Maran around, during that time. Sure Nilian was probably harder to kill but his times didn't mesh with mine that much. When you were around, it was always like "ok Fort has the Codex but I don't know if I dare even try to go look inside because I'll end up in a snare."

Good, smart char.

I will try to dig up that log, though since neither of us died it'll be somewhat hard to track down.

Tsyda - Thanks for the help you gave me.
Nanorab - Thanks for never *quite* being able to assassinate me. Oh and sorry about looting your pit - I thought you'd deleted or something, honestly. Heh.
Tumarellen - Tumaguy. Heh. You rocked as an ally, and sucked as a foe. Nice work.
Zesam - Shooloothingie. Gratz on immorting, and thanks for all the fun times. There were many. Oh and I'm still sorry about dropping that 8-person house on you. *wince*
Xilia - Annoying as all hell, but doing exactly what you should. Nice work, keep it up.

No problem, It was always fun to travel with Hunsobo, going after humansunder with the clam was fun too, your little tantrum made it to the log board I believe. Either ironic or well planned that a form you gave me helped you get shinies eh? *wink* I think I only fought you once in the Ysigrath swamp and though I got you down quite far with the walrus you still beat me. one of the few who did beat that form.

As for the age dying, I can relate, the last weeks are definately the hardest when you know it has to be coming soon but you keep lingering. Sounds like my 103 year old great aunt, she's ready to kick the bucket and she's just too healthy. I think I've said this in my goodbye thread but I'll state it again. I would love to see age continue when logged off. It may make for cheaper age dying but it would make elves always outlive humans and so forth. Maybe take a little drudgery out of it too.

Again, great character and congratz.

Quite a few good times indeed! Next to Tumarellen, you were my favorite person to interact with. It was always fun playing ally and enemy with you. I wasn’t ever upset about that eight person bomb, it could have easily been avoided had I thought to type where. You didn’t even loot! The funny story is, I didn’t realize I even had the codex on me. The entire time I thought another Nexun had it, and was running it over to the fort. When I woke from my healing sleep (with no supplications up), they were like oh you have it! So… I ran out to gate over to fort and BAM! Dead. I’m seriously embarrassed to find out it was you all along. You got to see how terrible of a Nexun I actually was, with my two gold for a sanc. Not to mention my desperate attempts at trying to get you to go to the dream land… *sigh*. I suppose in the end, it’s all very comical.

So… Well done Mr. Oltog. The most sexist giant ever *wry*.

And one more thing, why did you not try to kill me? There were a good many times you could have.

Actually I thought you did a great job in keeping your Nexus faith. It wasn't hard to know that you'd much rather be rollin' along with the guy who made you laugh and had good times with in the past than this new Fort char who you didn't even know, yet the balance dictated that you help them!

And you only accepted gold for sanc when things were neutral, IIRC (or at least when you *said* they were neutral) .

And the "Isn't it time for you to go to the Dream for a while?" was pretty funny.

The "most sexist giant ever" was of course due to getting additional CHR as part of my role contest reward. I added it to my description - my initial desc had Hunsobo almost comically overmuscled (and short for a fire giant). After the RC, his muscles "evened out" and he just looked compact and fearsome.

As for killing you - Hunsobo liked you, isn't it obvious? Duty required him to kill you more often than he liked, already - why do more than necessary?

I kinda had a feeling it wasn't about to work anyhow. I hit Kharg with an 11 stalk assassinate while sleeping and the bitch just rolled out of it. Not even a partial hit Something about imperial fire giants made them impostible to nail even if I did get all the stalks, I was just that unlucky. So after a few tries at pinning you I just saved my stalk-time up for Taelina instead

Iunnalady - It was so great to follow you. The interactions we had were wonderful. Thank you for the third legacy. I think others might have complained about the one they got, but I think it was the best thing Hunsobo could have hoped for.

Daevrynguy - Thanks for the Edge. It definitely added to the aura of invincibility on Hunsobo.

Zulghinlour - Thanks for the various interactions we had.

Khasotholas - You do a great job running Empire. Unfortunately for Hunsobo, you want Empire run differently than he was used to. So we "butted heads" a couple times, but that made things interesting!

Lyristeon - Thanks for the random roleplay moments. And thanks for the echoes tonight.

Imam - Thanks for never robbing me blind.

Fycul - Where'd you go?

Restinan - Thanks for the knowledge. And thanks for the bracers!

Ciurehra - Thanks for the help on the Hell trips and stuff. And thanks for the bracers!

Mahmud - See Ciurehra. Except about the bracers.

Gnashgaar - Thanks for the bracers!

Vadante - Dude. Don't sac 1.

Frajalar - Praise Iunnalady!

Smuerlk - Thanks so much for making the last couple nights not-boring! Good luck, sorry if my age-death leaves you in the lurch.

Vharilius - Sorry you feel like you lost respect for me. Them's the breaks I guess.

Man, you totally saved my life (and probably my eq?) that one time. I was blind, wrathed, rotting, and had teleported - no idea where I was. I think I told some Oath to tell you to gate to me and healing sleep me and I'd pay you some shinies or something.

So thanks for that.

Now even more warriors are going to flock to my shrine hoping for a third legacy. :p

You were fun to interact with, and a great follower. You weren't needy but still stopped by to visit on occasion, and I loved your unique little wordplays and prays. I didn't have a clue it was you, but after about 500-600 hours and when you said you weren't planning on ascending, I sort of figured it was somebody up there.

When I saw you log on last night, I kept thinking you'd drop dead at any second and I was hoping to be around for it, but you survived longer than I expected, and I did have a final this morning. Oh well. Hopefully someone threw out some echoes for you.

Good luck with your next. Maybe it should be a Herald.

You were way, way too much fun to watch, man. I spent more time watching you fight than was probably healthy, but it was just addictive. Though it wasn't just me; I got this a lot:

snoop Hunsobo

Busy already. You tried to snoop Hunsobo.

Always classy, great RP that backed up the Mack truck running into your enemies.

I've got some ideas for making Emperor/Empire more than just near-constant raiding (which is a lot of fun!). Even though all require a decent coding effort, I think it would be doable and and a really interesting dynamic to add to the game.

Kharghurln: Khar got nice place Fifth Circle Hell for you, endless torment, metal desk, uncomfortable chair. Yar!

I knew you'd pass me up, despite me having more hours... And you did it with about half the PK deaths I ate. My flaming crown of giants is off to you! I'll echo Nep and say you are definitely one of the best all-around players of CF, across the board. Thanks for playing!

I'm still pissed that you had that "Warrior's Tournament" at like 5:00 system time on a Monday. Who plays then? Geez.

Actually it probably worked out better that way. If I had managed to win and gotten a third legacy at that point, Iunna would never have given me one 3 months later. And while any third legacy is great, the one she gave me really sealed a lot of vulns Hunsobo had. You might have given me something else (which would have been great, too, but might not have covered up a weakness so well).

As for passing you up - I was sorta watching that but also just sorta taking pk's as they came to me. I imagine if I had wanted to just rack up a bunch more kills I could have just fought as many ragers (w/o the head) as possible, but Hunsobo wasn't about that. And realistically, with the number of people who wanted to duel me or have their last death be to me, it probably balanced out...a "griefer" char who picks on someone over and over and over doesn't get offered duels or have people want them to be their last death.

It was fun getting you humansunders with the Manta ray! And even more fun running to grab strange bracers to give to the war master with Ciurehra! I just tended to form alliances with you more often than not. Though with Ciurehra there were instances where I did think betrayal would be a fun option. Just never saw a good moment that would make that risks worth it. Perhaps we'll see each other again!

You're welcome

Actually, since the beating of the arial ranger some nine gazillion years ago, we seemed to get along pretty well. As I saw it, IC and OOC, it was at best an uneasy alliance. I could never trust you, not being imperial, and vice-versa. However, being tied up, robbed blind, and then seven marans show up, never a good time. On the same note, if I ever tried it and failed, -guaranteed- death, and then a lot more of the above thoughts being repeated. I like risk and all, but ah...thats unneccessary. Plus, we seemd to exchange a lot...rather, you continuously bribed me after we pked some of my things back, and some of them to you (blademaster's gloves, you can all thank me for that).

Now that you're dead, I think you'd have smoked me either way. I thought about it, and the best way I could figure was hope you werent -1 hour translucent, truss you, get you to a locked door, steal your sack wands etc, put plague on you, make you starve/thirst, and LEAVE. No other way I was doing it with the unarmed spec business, and I was never sure if bindings would get your swords away. Ick.

Anyway, the uneasy alliance was extremely fun, especially with two people raking up shinies like Imam and Hunsobo, and me getting them dumped on for my continued, as I think you put it, "not smacking of Hunsobo on head". Seeing me in the room with you wouldn't save you from a jacking, but on the lighter side, I'm fairly sure bindings wouldn't save me. Hot damn.

I don't usually post for a current character, but I left out anything important I'd say, and hey, Hunsubo will never know about all those ready to run/jack moments I had. WHEW!

Well, props for a well played character. Good luck on your next, as long as our chars aren't enemies..then I hope you flop with your next

You're posting about a mortal, I'll give you the same response I'd give any immortal who said this...

- On Emperor-dom.

That's on you! If the Emperor can't figure out anything else to do, then shame on him. The Emperor is given a ton of leeway in what he can, and can't do, as far as treaties go, alliances, promoting and demoting sect leaders, whatever. What I'd ask is, were you waiting for immortals to prod you in a certain direction instead of taking action yoursef? If so, then I don't really think your above comment is valid. Now, I'm only saying this because Hunsobo was a pretty fantastic character, and this response isn't just aimed at you, it's aimed at all the Emperors we've had of late (by of late, I mean over the past few years) who have taken zero, and I mean zero initiative to do anything on their own. They've been excellent characters, but not what I'd call great Emperors. Did I think Hunsobo was a good Emperor? Yes and no. Did I think he was a good character? Very, very much so.

Now, could Empire Imms do more to give Emperors options? Absolutely. That's something to think on.

I'd say good luck with your next, but who am I kidding that you need luck?

Khas

I know it's "on me" but I struggled to figure out what exactly Hunsobo could have pushed for. I did try to make an alliance with Battle but that fell through *fistshake Vhloughvang* and I tried to move "project makesmash" forward but, well, that requires Immortal action and I didn't want to put any extra work on you/us

I think the deal with Emperor (as opposed to any other cabal leader) is that you don't need to do long induction interviews with apps or anything like that. Thank god. So it seems like your only "cabal duty" that you perform with frequency is related to raiding.

As for making sect leaders - bleh, I didn't seem to do too well there.

I really wanted to make sure you didn't know who I was, for just that reason. If you thought Hunsobo was too slow to do something, I wanted to hear it!

My only thing was that Empire had one (or no) direction pre-Khaso-return and sorta took a different direction when you came back. Which was fine, but ol' H didn't know exactly what you wanted/expected/would allow, so I sorta had to tread carefully.

Which was good! It made it interesting.

I'd say more of a direction at all, than a "new" direction. Grurk had largely become AWOL even by the end of Draktel's reign. So Empire was being run by Zulg, whose time was eaten up like crazy by coding, and I and other imms would help out here-and-there. But it didn't have a solid Imm presence like it had previously.

Once Khaso came back, he sorta kicked the complacency that had developed in the rear. Got Empire back to being more what it should be. More cutthroat and such.

The challenge here was that Hunsobo's role was pretty much of the opinion that people deserved the Oath with no preamble. Anyone who willingly gave the Oath should be given it. Citizenship should be available to anyone who "doesn't suck." The Council should pretty much be full if any relatively viable candidates are present.

Huns and Kharg are the kind of characters CF thrives on. I think I told you how much respect I had for you in my earlier goodbyes, but I would like to reiterate :

By the end of of Hrudgir's run in an OOC sense I thought of Huns as one of Hrudgir's closest friends (though not in an IC sense, obviously.) You were the sort of enemy that makes the game a joy.

The Kasty bit -- I think it is awesome that the two of you played these two chars, and similarly awesome that you guys owned up to them. I don't think you will get anything but positive responses to Hunsobo.

Well done!

Lyug - I enjoyed your presence. Hunsobo was somewhat disdainful of you to others (what can I say, he was evil!) and when they asked what was up with you, he told them you had a crush on him.

Yikoti - I already said goodbye to you in your own thread, but it really was fun bantering with you.

Man, what an end of an era.

I have great memories of Hunsobo, from dealing with him as Daevryn to being mercilessly ganged down by him as at least two different mortals.

I've said for a long time that I always thought you were the all-around best player to grace CF, and it's no surprise to see a character of this caliber come from you again.

After watching you grow into hero with Verisses and fighting you one and off when you first got human sunders. To being companionable with you as nuloh (though there was one time where I almost pulled an iceball on you for the greed of those charges :p ). Then to being torn apart like a rag doll with Raagba. And now my sparse interactions with you as my current I must say that Hunsobo the character has better'ed cf in a rare way that only a few select are truly able to do. I actually had you pegged as Zulg for a while (we all know he loves those fire giants), but that kind of just didn't seem to work when I saw him and you on at the same time. I must say, and I know you have heard it so much that it probably annoys you by now, Well done and Bravo. Thank you for your contribution (both Immortal and Mortal), and I can't wait to run into your next.
