When I had lynx form (third tier offense), I was easily able to beat hero assassins with it (without protections).

However, I could not beat a level 30 ish polearm (I think -- some kind of warrior that wasn't spear/staff) spec with it as he could hit me quite easily.

I concluded from that that shifters were definitely more suited to some kinds of fights than others.
