Chapter 3

Nazarates' mother immediately took the boy from her
sister's and they walked in silence for many hours
until they came to an old, abandoned graveyard where
the al-Caliik were said to have once worshiped. She
forced open the rusty gates and told her ten year old
son to go in. She closed the gates behind him and as
he walked deeper down the path she turned and walked
back toward home. Neither of them looked back.

Nazarates wandered until he found a mausoleum which
looked unique compared to the rest of the graveyard.
It was made of pitch-black obsidian which glimmered
under the setting sun. He walked to the doors and
kneeled before them and sat like that for many hours
into the depth of the night. He waited, for what he
was not sure, but for the first time in his life he
felt at home.

Sometime after midnight the door creaked open.
Nazarates rose to his feet, bowed before the gate
and then walked into the darkness before him. He
was welcomed by a similar figure as had visited
at his birth. The cloaked man hissed: "Welcome,
Stillborn."

And with that Nazarates was welcomed into the
Order of the Black Sepulcher. Named for the
center alcove of the mausoleum. A place that
radiated ancient and unholy power. A place that
the al-Caliik believed was connected to the Hells
themselves. A place so dark that no mortal light
illuminate it's corners. A place where Nazarates
felt a great kinship.
