Just don't roll up another Outlander for....a year?

You were a frustratingly effective opponent who had excellent RP and never talked smack, reguardless of if you were winning or loosing.

Hell, I'm just tempted to roll up a sphere destruction druid and pray to the new ancient.

Damn thats a lot. I always liked when you came into town because you caused enough turmoil that I could steal a bunch from your cronies and even Tribunals on Duty without anyone noticing until it was too late. Ooops..I've said too much. Anyways...great char even though you hated me. HAHA.. Kind of what I was going for anyways. I dont think the Kingpin of the Thieves Guild and those that seek to destroy civilization should be on friendly terms. Just my thoughts.

Your char has made me want to try and Outlander druid but I still have some years left in Desmonn so we shall see.

See you in the fields.

I meant to put you in there but forgot.

Desmonn is the one character I really wanted to kill but never did. Man, were you frustrating. It seemed like every time I went into town I got cleaned out - you were like the small nightwalker of Galadon! I looked everywhere for Desmonn tracks, but as far as I could tell, you didn't have a pattern. Mutter. Good job doing your thing, though -- for some reason I didn't realize you made Kingpin.

OVERALL
This is a challenge to write out goodbyes and parting thoughts for a character that I’ve literally played throughout a year of my life. I’ve age-died characters before, but never one with this many hours – this character was around longer than some Heroimms. At times I didn’t think I could do it. It’s kind of like being involved in a long-term relationship. Sometimes I had amazing fun. Sometimes I was bored. Sometimes I got really pissed off at circumstances – this was the first character that I’ve ever rage deleted. But overall it was much fun. Alright, in the interests of clarity, I’m going to offer parting thoughts for those that are interested in this post (I’m an avid reader of the Battlefield forum, myself), and make a few other posts for goodbyes to certain cabals. If you have any questions, ask and I’ll answer. It would be impossible to say everything I’d like to, so I’m going to stick to things I couldn’t have said while Tjok was alive.

Basically, I rolled Tjok because I wanted to try out a cloud ranger to see if they were better than a human ranger. Turns out, I think they are much better – bearcharge suddenly gains purpose. I didn’t have a role, but made a sphere (Destruction) that I thought would be fun to play out as some back-corner outlander. Then Therisa deletes a few days after I’m inducted. A week later, I’m surprised to see that Tjok is tapped to be leader – without a written role. This was actually a GOOD thing. Because as it turns out, the lack of written role helped; I just assumed the role of a “Harbinger”. I have to admit, that part of me was excited to be named Harbinger because I thought it would be cool to finally get to use “insect swarm”. Word to the wise: don’t expect to get insect swarm. I freely admit I wanted it, though.. you cannot imagine the carnage I would have been able to unleash with that power.

I did rage-delete this character once. It came at a time when most of the Outlander heroes had deleted again, there were a bunch of Empire/Tribunal types active, and I had been the only Outlander Leader for a good 400 hours. That’s a long time.

Then I read a thread re: Outlander/Tribunal where Velkurah said that two low-range Outlanders with “Trepidation” could and had defeated two-hero Tribunal, one of them a Vindicator – he wrapped it up by saying “I don’t see what the Outlanders’ problem is.” It was such complete BS (no offense, Velkurah, but it was) that I fell into “rage delete mode”. I figured I’d delete after Tjok’s next death – which was to a Blitzenturt/Mummy summon/bash (Pretty funny, actually, I thought I’d be smooth and recite a return scroll rather than quaff before the summon – I mispronounced the scroll ). Anyway, when I hit delete the second time it said something like “you admit crushing defeat to Blitzenturt”.. and I just couldn’t take it. Admit defeat? To Blitzenturt?? After fighting for so many hours??? Hellllllll no. In for a penny, in for a pound; I was determined to age-die this character. Coincidentally (I’m assuming), a day or two after I reactivated, the Outlander Imms made Thresinok the Nightreaver, and I felt an immense burden lift – it’s strange that the thing which spelled doom to Thresinok’s character was what lifted doom from mine. And at the time I knew I was benefiting at his expense (this was driven home when he posted his goodbye thread). This is my way of saying thanks, Thresinok. While you were around, you made things much easier.

I also admit I got choked up when Tjok finally did die. It was harder to “let go” than I thought it would be.

GAME BALANCE: OUTLANDER v TRIBUNAL:
Although I see an imbalance between Outlander and Tribunal, I have a somewhat skewed viewpoint – it’s from the perspective of fighting in the cities/spire as a ranger. I have to give up almost every skill a ranger has to do that – including “dodge”. It’s like asking someone to play an Anti-Paladin without spells, special-unholy-attack, Bash, or Trip, and then telling them to charge into multiple sets of special guards, PK enemies, and gate-guards-on-crack that can break weapons, et al. What kind of Anti-Paladin would subject himself to that situational abuse? And yet, I had to do it time and time again. So my viewpoint is skewed because Tjok had to give up a lot to take part in the cabal warfare – if I were playing a class that did not have to give up so much, I might not see an imbalance (although players I respect like Karrel, Ehlynn, and Cathoria saw an imbalance, so I’m sure it’s there). It’s more than a little annoying to see Tribunal-types that have never played an Outlander claiming the reverse is true – that charging into the spire is like charging into the Refuge. To those I say: Take a moment and think about it. You are giving up nothing – none of your class skills, a couple of you aren’t even giving up your cabal skills. The Outlanders can in no way restrict your ability to magically leave the area. You’re in no worse a position than any other player. Outlanders, though, in particular rangers, give up almost everything to fight Tribunal.

On the other hand, Beast Call has got to be one of the most versatile and useful powers in the game. It’s like your ace-in-the-hole – like the nitro injection system in “Fast and Furious”. It’s what you need to bring down that mage. It’s what you need to neutralize that thief or polespec warrior. It’s.. it’s just a great power without being overpowered. I can see why thieves and some mage-classes would be tempted to whine about it, though, because who wants to be winning a drag-race only to discover the car next to them has a nitro injection system.

MOST CHALLENGING ENEMY:
Hands down, Blitzenturt. Mace/Pole giant warrior that had the Cabal Power to see through camo. That is one serious challenge.

BEST FIGHT:
Traba and Lemath raiding Outlander; when the dust cleared, I somehow managed, against all odds, to take the fetish back from Traba’s corpse. Wish I had a log.

PARTING SHOT:
Valg. You guys have got to stop hammering on Valg. ESPECIALLY if you enjoy playing Outlanders. He was incredibly receptive to comments and ideas and has done so much for the game and the Outlander cabal. Thanks, Valg.

Cabal-Specific Goodbyes/Thoughts to Follow

In response to Reply #16

SCIONS:
Re: that “Scion War”
I heavily dragged my feet re: Scion. Partially because of internal Outlander-decision making that Amaranthe told me when I was made Harbinger. Partially because I had around 700-800 hours on the character when the situation came up and I didn’t want to age die and leave the cabal with a mess that I created ala Agorinth/Minalcar. Partially because there aren’t a whole lot of Outlanders, we were already fighting Empire and Tribunal, and at the time Scion had 4-6 heroes that regularly logged in at similar times. And finally (maybe most importantly) because I had to keep a focus on the “Goals” of Outlander. Basically, Amaranthe cleared me to take the Scepter if I decided it was best, and I gave an “exit strategy” to the “war” that could be invoked in case Tjok age-died in the middle of it (I basically blamed it on five named Scion members – when those members were controlled, the war would stop).

My (somewhat OOC) hope was that I could make Outlander a political “device” for certain Scions (that I liked) to use against others and gain power in their cabal – to reign in the Scions I couldn’t stand. Kind of like the First Crusaders arriving at the gates of Constantinople. Obviously, I’d never admit this in so many words, in character. Really, it was targeted at Restraal. Ironically, Restraal was the main Scion that people wanted to kill; but for some reason I liked that guy.

Anyway, what make it possible was that at the time, Outlander was almost a “who’s who” with gutsy powerhouses like Cathoria and Karrel, and powerful, determined personalities like Jaeiin and Aesrira. If I’d known Tjok would live a couple hundred more hours, maybe I would have done a few things differently. But probably not. Overall, the end of the war was fine with me – something like that really needs the "Full Council" dynamics to be truly fun.

Other than that, I tried to maintain a chilly relationship with Scion. If Andrlos is around and reading this: What the heck were you talking about when you “called me out” over CB about my consistently traveling with Scion. I grouped with a Scion once, in ~900 hours of this character, and it that was actually after you “called me out” (I was desperate and outnumbered, the fetish was on the line, and I broke group as soon as we’d retrieved). I’m still confused about that.

Restraal:
Like I said in Granaak’s goodbye, I saw the two of you like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Just basically respected your character even though I couldn’t show it IC – had to maintain the chilliness and there’s no way I ever would have grouped with you. Moreover, you and Granaak put some serious, serious hurt on the Tribunal. Sometimes more than the Outlanders did. Why would I want to get in the way of that?

Akscereh:
I didn’t want any worse than a chilly relationship with you, either – part of it was you had the owl form

Vanzokh:
I learned a bad pattern you had of running through Shadow Grove when you logged in. So I set a fool-proof trap. You escaped. I’m amazed you escaped. Obviously, you knew what you were doing and I’m happy you didn’t lich

FORTRESS:
Didn’t travel with the Fortress much.. mainly used the area outside it to trap wayward Imperials/Scion. Also think I covered most of the people I know in their goodbye threads (e.g. Kelin). Oh yeah:

Kelin:
When we went to war with Scion, and you asked me, as a friend, NOT to let Outlanders attack Scion in front of the Fortress? That was impressive. It would have been so easy to say “Bring the fire!” especially considering how outmanned you were at the time, but you didn’t go the easy route. It’s too bad you never led the Fortress because I think you would have been great.

Iramath:
Granted, didn’t talk to you much, but you seem to be on the right track.

Your relationship with Restraal never seemed 'chilly' to me. You always had a 'Tjok greet' or a salutation of some type for me, and unless you were busy usually made time for a word or two, and even a chuckle now and then. The other, more bloodthirsty Scions, yes I can see you trying to distance yourself from. However, just because of the kind of character Restraal is and kind of player I am, I never saw a point in fighting with Outlanders.

Ironically, I think the war started about 20 seconds after I sanc'd a certain stoogie Outlander druid. I was wanted, I had just sanc'd this person, and made a joke about how really I was there to help the Tribunals (Shhh! Don't tell anyone!). This druid then attacks me, and Cathoria wanders in and assists. I was not so happy with this, especially since I had been helping the Outlanders against Tribunal, and set the dogs loose. The rest, as they say, is history...

In any case, I always enjoyed talking with you.

ps I am not a Granaak/Restraal amalgam. I'm just Restraal.

Well, it could be that I flunked in the "chilliness" department. Like I said, I flat-out liked Restraal, and maybe that came through even though I was trying to create a professional distance. Mainly, I was trying to explain why I never tried to group with you or spend too much time nearby you: there was always the chance you'd summon a nightwalker or something, which is almost like popping a pill in front of a 'rager

And yeah, I know you're not a Granaak/Restraal amalgam. Although I have to admit, without looking at a dictionary, I have no idea what "amalgam" means.

That's funny, considering that one of your previous characters you mentioned, Agorinth, and one of my previous characters were basically arch-enemies (I always wondered what happened to you). We fought in the Palace, we fought in Balator...hell we fought every chance we got. No love loss there, but I think it was always an IC thing. OOC I had to give it up for Agorinth and the Eclipsing Moon. More on that later...

I was using him as an example of a cabal leader that started a war with another powerful cabal, and died in the middle of it (obviously the dying part was no fault of his own), leaving his cabal devastated and having to pick up the pieces. The other example was Minalcar, who started a war with Arbiter - for a while he won, then he died, and Arbiter just relentlessly crushed Battle until they capitulated. Unlike Agorinth and Minalcar, I had a rough idea of how long Tjok had left, I didn't want someone else to have to clean up after my mess.

Mind giving us a nudge into who you were as a player? I've been impressed with Tjok for quite some time, and would like to know the face behind such a cool character. If not, completely understandable. But I thought I might directly address you with such a question. Good times.

Tjok was just one of those characters that deserved and received respect. Granaak was bloodthirsty and mean and you know what? I just could not bring myself to even be rude to you. =)

Good job and good luck in the future.

You have my respect, definately enjoyed our scant few interactions. The only one that really had something behind it was when we both decided to end the 'war' that was brewing, it would have been bloody and I kinda wish it would have happened just to see the turn out. I cant say anything more that hasnt been said already by everyone else, so just know that my hats off to ya

OUTLANDER:
I went through a lot of ups and downs with this cabal. I guess the thing that made me stick with it was sheer determination – I didn’t want to leave unless the cabal was in a better position than it was when I became leader. And it seemed like everytime it was in a better position, key people would delete Maybe it’s fate, I don’t know, but Outlander is on the most promising upswing right now that I have seen while playing (almost since the beginning of the cabal). For a long time, I’d wondered what this character would be doing when he age-died. I just didn’t want to be gathering preps or reclothing or something stupid. As it turns out, he age-died at the Spirit, having just successfully gaining the Scales and getting revenge on a Tribunal. I laughed.

Anyway, I think I’m hooked on Outlander; I opened my eyes and saw the True Evil in CF: the Tribunal cabal. I just freaking hate those guys. If I rolled another character (I won’t be able to for a long time) it’d be another Outlander-type. It would be a healer so I could pull a Restraal, make some warrior type 10x as powerful, and make those damned Tribunal “bleed through the ears.”

Imms: In general, I really want to thank you all. You gave me so much latitude and freedom and overlooked the roleplaying mistakes I made (although the ones I can think of were in desperation to get the fetish). Retrieving and to a lesser extent raiding were hands down the hardest aspects of Tjok’s life. The best thing you can do for a mortal leader is give them the kind of latitude you did. Thanks. Much.

Andrlos: If you’re still around, take a look at my post below re: Scion, and tell me what the heck were you referring to? I’m still confused.

Players:
Going to stick to things I couldn’t say in other Goodbye threads:

Nok:
I couldn’t say this before in your goodbye thread, but now that Tjok’s dead, I can tell you I vividly remember that time we were camped outside Blackclaw waiting for .. Ok .. I can’t vividly remember the Mummy’s name. Anyway, when you up’d and ran into Blackclaw, knowing he’d summon you into a noexit room that neither of us could get into or out of? Even though you died, I was flat out impressed and humbled. I don’t have it in me to throw myself into an impossible situation like that. Then, after you died/were full looted, when I increduously asked you why you did that, you said your senses overcame you with the smell of such a broken thing (Mummy). I was even more impressed and humbled. Then I read your goodbye thread – obviously I’m still impressed, but a little less humbled (only because it wasn’t your own motivation). Really, really good job. I’m almost sure I’ve never played with one of your characters before, so it was a pleasure.

Krystia(et al.) and Aesrira: You’re both tied for second in terms of roleplaying. In fact, I thought you were played by the same person until Norkie died.

Krystia(et al.): I know I posted in your various goodbye threads, but just to reiterate: I hope you don’t lose your ability to make IC sacrifices and suffer legitimate setbacks in order to keep to your role. Sometimes I can’t do that. Rarely do I see other people do that. You did it all the freaking time. It was amazing. Sometimes inspirational. Thanks for the fun and good luck with that photojournal project you’re working on.

Aesrira: Good luck. I have a feeling you’ll do an amazing job. You don’t seem to get wrapped up in things that burn people out. For me, it is the raid/retrieval continuum. I really like how you’re able to keep a laser focus on “creativity” and “thinking outside the box” – kind of like storywriting. Kind of Thror-ish.

Cathoria/Karrel: OK. Impressed by both of you. Inspirational in a different way than Krystia – you guys made people want to push harder and challenge themselves more. You guys were just feared and fearless. If everyone played the game the way you did, it would be 3x as fun.

Rogue’s various characters: Sort of like proto-Cathoria/Karrel. You weren’t feared, but you were absolutely fearless. You charged into situations where I never would. Now if you could figure out a way to win those.. you’d be on to something. But for now you have the right attitude to make CF fun.

Reggie: You’re the only guy I’ve ever inducted with a borderline name Basically, I liked your style. I think there’s a danger to playing invokers, though, where you get lost in the spam and forget what it is that makes you want to actually “play” that character – so don’t get caught up in that trap.

Interviewees:
Maybe I seemed harsh sometimes. But I wanted to challenge people and see where they really stood. Also, the Interview? That’s realistically the ONLY time I get to talk in-depth with people I’m going to be in the same cabal with. It’s FUN to sit down and talk, but who has the time? Not me. So I exploited that one opportunity.

It's easy to give a cabal leader latitude when they consistently demonstrate excellent judgement.

I was amazed that you stuck it out through thick and thin times, and yeah, what a great time and place for you to go, but in terms of the literal timing of your death as well as during a cabal upswing. It almost does seem like fate is playing a role there, doesn't it?

Your mention of periods of frusteration and burnout was the reason I made Aesrira Harbinger prior to your death. I know this move confused a lot of outside observers. I saw your playing times flounder, and you were so close to age death, and just had been leader (and as you point out, the sole leader), for SO many hours, it just seemed like a repetitive and boring way to snuff yourself out of existance.

I suppose I'm saying this more for the benefit of the confused onlookers, as I think you already understood the reasoning, but I should clarify here that the baton of leadership was passed on to Aesrira largely for Tjok's benefit, not because Tjok was lacking in any way. I tried to make this abundantly clear with the title and such. When I saw how close Tjok was to age-death after the holidays, it seemed like a good time to "relieve" him of the burdens of interviewing and such that just consumed so much of his time, give him a cool title, a tale of impending ascention, and another gift for the "twilight years" - a "second wind" so to speak, and let him go out in an unfettered blaze of glory. And the events of last night, definately icing on the cake.

I think good start, and remember your promise to me! I just got wary of invoker-types. They all start out so strong, but then get mired in the basics of the invoker class and wane out as time passes. I know this happened to me with my last invoker. To me, though, you seemed like you have a firm grasp of what Parantl is. Good luck!

Well, after interacting with you with Thays and Ajelon I cant give you much more praise than what everyone else has. You were the outlander cabal for a long while there. Ill never forget a few moments with Thays and it would just be me and you and we would count how many people in outlander, i think there was 7 at that time. I know what you mean about being hooked on outlander heh, its just a.....great cabal. I really know what you mean about the ranger fighting in cities. Urgh. It was always nice when we could fight the captain flee quickly to the weald and rest up and not even having to worry about them coming. There were a few times when they came and tried to get us. But there wasnt many. Well, very very well done on the character, and it really was just a pleasure to interact with you.

There is one thing I wanted to say to you that I couldn't say in your goodbye. Basically, when Thays came around into hero range, I was getting burnt on the raid/retrieval continuum with Tribunal and Empire. It started to seem repetitive to go through the hassel to take the items when I never got the chance to defend against the cabal members. From the very beginning you were so enthusiastic about getting involved, and that enthusiasm spread. Thanks much.

I find it funny that pepole think my name is so borderline when it is a typical name. Unlike some of the major odd stuff that we see in this game, I just find it funny that normal is "bad."

Loved Tjok, and I understand what you mean about spam. I wanted more time with you to become a killer and I do mean killer, combo. Anyway, from what I saw, you were great, I hope you make another Outlander.

I probably went through 10 outlander characters under you, even though only getting higher level with a handfull.

Psyrel was probably my most successful char I had under you, and from start to finish, you were always impressing.

It was a blas gathering preps with you, and thanks for showing me all the things you did. You go down in the books as one of those chars names and roles I wont forget. Thanks for everything.

I want to start with saying you are the one who has had the most impact on me as a player of all the players I have interacted with during my time on CF.

I was a vivid Warlock player back in the time when the cabal existed but had to take a major break for a long time (before it was destroyed.) I think I had a one year or so break before I was able to get back into the game... I rolled up a player just to find the fun wasn't there anymore and the layout of the game was changed... I felt like when I first started the game a few years back.

Finally I dessided to roll a communer and I wanted to join a cabal... Since I have been playing uncabaled players for a looong time now. I talked with a few outlanders and finaly got in a long interview with you. I was exhausted after the interview, and you really pressed me and I tried to not back down from my views of things and I hope I did not.

When you inducted me I allmost fell from my chair since I felt I did a bad interview all things considered, still I got the feeling of a real acomplishment getting into outlander... Even my empowerment interview was easier, and it turned from being a turndown imm died to a turnabout "custom religion" more or less

I loved when you were around, and I really wanted to get up so I would be able to interact more with you, and do things together with you.

I just wished I had a comback char under my hood before I tried outlander... I must have come of like a major noob in the start *blush* but I hope that I came into it better after time passed. It was extremely anoying when I actualy was promoted twise at work so I hardly get time at all to play, but I try to stick the character out, and most of it is because of Tjok!.

I am really going to miss you, for a long period of my life I was solo ranking and tending the cabal alone, since the short hours I am able to play is within sleeping outlander and imm time it seems. Still I do hope I have given you a better last impression then first

And I hope the next player you desside to roll will become as successfull as Tjok, CF need people like you so people have someone to look up to and learn from. I know I learned a lot from you, bouth RP wise and otherwise. I really had a hard time learning what makes a druid, had noone to ask, only you as motivator.

I just wish you would stick around for a little longer time so you could push me into ranking the last ranks I find it hard to motivate myself for ranking when I dont have that much playtime, so it tends becoming hunting or exploration instead (hey its way more fun).

At the same time it tears me that you will not be around to "help" me on my quest... I was soo hoping to be able for you to imbew "it" with some of your spirit to make it stronger in the end.

Thanks to you (and the outlander imms) for letting me still play as outlander even if I am not able to put more hours into the game.

Where to begin? I could write pages and still not cover it by half, so let me hit a few highlights.

I've a good chunk of my role written about you. You were just that great! Like a big steady rock. A pker, A Roleplayer, all rolled into one larger than life package. I even liked that name of yours... Tjok! Short, steady, to the point, like Wolf!

I hope you didn't mind my nipping at your heels like a kitten too much, even when it caused a few problems ... like trying to waylay someone with me hanging about! Very amusing as a player, but you always took it with grace.

I remember when Amaranthe made me Harbinger. You were off hunting and I asked her if we could wait till you came, but it was clear you had two tribs in your sights. So I told Amaranthe, well he's got two birds in his paw and we both smiled. You were living the life and it was good to see!

Oh, and just to second what Amaranthe has said, although I know you know it. My being harbinger was just to give you a break at the end. I would not have taken the job any other way. Amaranthe knew what you meant to Aesrira, so this allowed her to look to you as even more a mentor. Or as she would say, to have your big, meaty paw guiding her!

Anyway, to wrap it up. When I started playing Aesrira, you were just another character. I had no idea who Tjok was. By the end, you were a living memory! Truly a part of CF. Thanks for all the good times.

Aesrira

Well, I've had the chance to say goodbye to you three times. Every time I interacted with you, I always had fun. With Kelara, I got to see your beginnings in Outlander and got to see you become Harbinger. You were different back then, just running around tearing up people like they were paper. It was when the new stuff came out with exotic weapons and you'd carry around a midnight dragon claw ripping things. Then I got bored with Kelara because a lot of mistakes had been made and I never really stayed with a character past forty.

Then I rolled up Krystia for the sole purpose of being able to interact with you. Rose up through the ranks and joined you at hero level. You're very responsible for me having my first hero and wanting to stick around for a while. I just couldn't do that with other characters. With Krystia and Tjok, anything was possible. Raiding was sooooo much easier. But, being a healer, everything was just plain boring. Beast call was fun, and exploring was fun, but I just couldn't find anything interesting enough to keep me going.

Norkie was a release of frustration at the seriousness of Outlanders. I wanted him to be fun and gung-ho. If he had endless con, I probably would have played him out as long as possible, but it wasn't in the cards. After your comment on knowing that Krystia was also Kelara, I knew I needed a drastic personality change so that you couldn't recognize who I was. Interacting with you a third time was like having your own personal immteraction. I'm sure if you would have been able to make room echoes, people would have started praying to you.

Each character became a die-hard Tjok fan and tried to be the best outlander they could be (i.e. all the sticking to my guns I did) and you really inspired a lot in me as a player. Good luck with whatever character you play next, and it'll be quite a challenge to live up to the legend you created in Tjok.

If you feel like e-mailing me, please do. I'd seriously like to hear from you. My e-mail is llylandria@yahoo.com. I also have some questions that I can't ask on the forum.

Kelara/Krystia/Norkie
And sometimes just plain Jane

This is way out of right field, I'm sure, but I have to say that I was always intrigued by you when I was up in Asgaard. I actually rolled an Outlander that I ended up deleting (Grathus...it was a short run and I deleted out of sheer boredom and frustration at the inability to rank), and I have to say the best part about that was probably interacting with you and Nok.

Normally I wouldn't post to say anything with such a limited exposure, but I think Tjok was really probably one of the best characters that CF has ever had, and so you deserve all the praise you can get.

Also, I am urging you to right a very in-depth, non-ranty (not that you'd rant) post about Outlander vs. Tribunal and the imabalances there and post it on the Gameplay board. I don't think that anything you can say about it will be brushed off...I mean, who could say you don't know what you're talking about when you so obviously do?

#35050, "TRIBUNAL"
In response to Reply #16

TRIBUNAL:

What can I say about Tribunal that hasn’t already been said? If Tribunal had 3-4 players with Kelrizza’s mindset, the cabal imbalance would be obvious. As it stands now, Tribunal doesn’t draw players that have the will to “hunt” outside of Galadon – you can basically flee from the Captain, run about 11 steps to the Weald, and be free from any reprisal. Really. What is so scary about a snare if you know one’s going to be there? The one thing you guys never seemed to hit on is that all it takes to fight a ranger is to (1) know he’s online and nearby, and (2) have the guts to pound it out and see it through.

I took so much “IC” taunting from you guys for not retrieving against odds. But seriously: if it was an even fight, I’d try to retrieve. Every time. If I had 3-1 or sometimes 2-1 (depending on how many low levels were around to call multiple guards), I’d raid. Every time. I got so sick of 95% of you consistently NOT doing that, that I made a promise to myself that I’d followed those “rules” I just stated in the hopes (futile) that you’d follow suit and we’d gear up for a fun war. Not to be. Most of the time, I’d just have to vis, and that would forestall a retrieval attempt until there were 3 or more of you.

That being said, I had a lot of fun 1 v. multiple-Tribunal fights defending against you guys. More importantly: There are obviously are exceptions to what I just said.

Vargblot is the first Vindicator that I actually think deserved the job (from the POV of a cabal enemy) since Odrirg. I seriously underestimated you based on our first encounter (it was a 2v2 retrieval at the Spire where you died to serpent striking – and you absolutely did not have to pincerspam yourself to death there). But what I like about your character, and what’s been missing since Odrirg, is a sense of initiative – maybe I’m wrong, but it seems like your sense of initiative has only increased with your new Vindicator powers. But boy did you luck out yesterday – I lost connection twice in five minutes, once just before you entered Prosimy, and the second time while you were writhing and I was bearcharging at the spirit. Mutter. Would have been nice to go out with some more vengeance.

Onikaroth recognizes that he can flirt with danger and escape it.

Melacarfina: Hehe. I think we can sympathize with each other fighting in Galadon. But I think you could have sang reveal and followed me into the Weald. But then, I think a snare is really not that scary if you’re expecting it.

Klendalstak: The poster child for the IGNORE command.

In response to Reply #20

If you remember, when I played Baendra, I'd come out of town to hunt all the time. However, you just used to snare me, ambush me, and I'd have to flee or make a life or death gamble on a sleep spell (which I think lacks finesse and any skill). So after a while, I stopped bothering.

There was even the time that Lyristeon or a lowbie outlander with you grabbed my weapon when you disarmed me.

I'm not sure you appreciate the importance of getting first attack though. It is a big advantage to outlanders in the wild that shaman can get wither off, etc, and that their enemies don't know how many people they face.

And yeah, I consider beastcall to be the special guard equivalent, but maybe that's from playing a mage. It is wierd to be able to soak up damage from a pc but not the beastcall.

But I seriously cannot remember fighting Baendra, especially with Lyristeon there. I saw Lyristeon one time before the last month or so - and it was while I was camped at the Refuge, no one around. Maybe my memory's going, I don't know, but are you thinking of someone else? Zadatak, maybe? I wracked my mind when I saw your post.

Anyway, I was referring to "venturing outside town into the Weald" especially in those situations where the Tribunal have the fetish, AND they outnumber the Outlanders. In that situation, there wouldn't be a chamo'd Outlander shaman. There wouldn't be beast calls. There would just be standard classes duking it out the way the CF Immortals intended. I think that would have been much more fun than the way things more often than not panned out.

Unfortunately, I can't speak to the exact situation you described.. though I imagine if I ambushed a necro and he faeried and blinded me, I'd try to run; and maybe anything less than a fight to the death would look "useless" to the necro.

I think it was you, maybe not.

It was not all that long after outlander went in, if I recall, so it would have been early days for both Tjok and Baendra if I am right.

Not sure if Lyristeon got my weapon. I just think it was him in the room when I got snared and someone got my weapon that I couldn't see.

But yes, I think there should be a pressure on Tribs to hunt outlanders outside of cities. At least a branch of tribs, besides Vindicators.

Yeah, you were fearsome. It definately showed with the vibe I got from other Tribunals. It seemed like that last night we talked you were trying to get me to talk trash about you not raiding or something, but that just isn't Oni's style. Hopefully you saw that I didn't really ever care who was on, I still came to fight. Of course, I'd usually just end up snared, but I guess that was part of the fun. I liked to flirt with danger, as you put it. Overall, I really wish we could have "chatted" more, but I guess I came along pretty late in your life and for that I'm sorry. Best of luck if/when you return and with the rigors of rl.

Thank you for the good talks and the many fights. We spoke of the tactic against snare. After thinking about the numerous times i went into your snare it really depends on if you are alone and how much damage your ambush does. The unspeakable ones are bad for morale . I tried to entwine a few times after the initial ambush and your "agile body " usually avoided it. I felt that if the entwine hit, you would be in trouble.
As for the time when i was lucky to escape allive, i was certain you were gone. You didnt show up when we slayed the huntress and got the scales back, so i pressed on. Why did you not put the usual snare outside the inner? It would have ended me...anyway, i had many narrow escapes from retrieving and raiding. Better lucky than dead.
I am glad i got you twice...otherwise my selfconfidence as player would be shattered. Now it ended sort of even i think.

You were a fierce opponent and you deserve all the good words coming to you. Thanks for everything, and good luck with your next! Since you now can use coins again, perhaps go out and take a few beers in Tjoks memory...he deserves it.

fighting in town is terrible, but at least I give it a try. And me getting into a snare usually means dead mela... especially if you hit me with a crazy ambush. Oh... did you usually use a lagging ambush or something? I don't know a lot about rangers but I'd get ambushed put in a command and then get bearcharged by you... sit there waiting... waiting... more waiting... bercharged again... dead. I didn't understand how you could ambush and then my command wouldn't go through. Anyway well done. I really really wanted to get you that time I woke up at the executioner and you were there so I fiended... but you eneded up just fleeing and quaffing. I was sad. I know that one time at the dragon tower I was so irate. You bring that damnable bird/panther and lora and myself walk right into a snare. We both just got finished fighting dragons... had about half elf... and I had no mp... And I sit there and watch you prep up. Why use all that? It was really not needed concidering we were both so hurt as it is. Then we come back to see everything sacrificed grrr! I just thought it was sooo cheap and yet tjok and jhuyzi took so much pleasure in it, like they got the big kill. Oh well. I will say after that when we went to fight dragons, we never went out together. Good luck with next... try something else.

I interacted with you with a couple characters but I choose to post as this one because I believe it's where I got the best interaction.

I remember one time you were raiding and it was myself and another lowbie there with our lvl 30ish guards...it was obvious we weren't having much affect at all, but I remember offering you pie to stop. For a moment I actually thought you considered this because you asked what kind, and people responding to my humor in kind always makes my day. Anyway, fun character, I never got into your pk range as an enemy, and I truely wasn't looking foreward to it anyway.

You make it out to sound like you didn't constantly talk trash. Oh well, I guess people just never want to admit that they cant practice what they preach. Anyway, had alot of decent fights, and thought you had a wonderful char. You talk about tribunals not being brave, but I think deep down in your heart you know you didnt come out of the shrubs for long with poor odds. Not to say that's not smart, obviously it pays off if you want to live 900 hours. Before Klendalstak I had a hero assassin outlander applicant Woonuku that talked alot with you. Ended up deleting him when i figured out I would lose hide and assassinate. But had alot of fun talkin to you and finding out what you were all about. Anyway, sorry you couldnt take the same trash talkin that you handed out. So long and take 'er easy.

All you did was talk trash and not back it up. No exceptions, nothing. You were a brat and now you bring it here. "You make it out to sound like you didn't constantly talk trash. Oh well, I guess people just never want to admit that they cant practice what they preach." You are still being a stupid little brat that yells and points fingers, then runs and hides. I NEVER saw you back anything up, or act like a tribunal, ever. It doesn't matter if people talked trash back to you, you provoked it. endl;

I don't like to prep myself, and I was always afraid of getting to the spirit and taking an unspeak from a nasty ambush, so thats really what kept me on my toes when I knew you were around. I played many sylvans about three-four years back, and I know what you mean about no powers in town, but perhaps before you yell at the tribunals, try playing one? it is a bit hard to come against the refuge and get stomped by those you can't see. though I haev been on the sylvan side of that, just can't let go of my usage of coins to play an outlander yet. =P Anyway, well played and good luck in the future.

#35051, "EMPIRE (Vladamir may want to read):"
In response to Reply #16

EMPIRE:
Blitzenturt was hands down the most challenging opponent I came up against with this character. A polearm/mace warrior that can see through camo. That’s a serious challenge. In general, any Imperial with that Power is a challenge. But you give it to a Polearm-spec and it increases exponentially. I had to work out a few ideas, but it required Blitzenturt to put himself at risk. Anyway, I didn’t have to face the combo much because I think Blitzenturt put Outlanders fifth on his list of cabals to hit – oftentimes there’d be a 2-4 imperials, one of them Blitzenturt, and they’d make the rounds to the different cabals, only to skip Outlander. Empire seems to also place second on Outlander’s list of cabals to hit.

One funny thing about Blitzenturt: I thought it was bad play, too, that he’d grabbed Vlad’s leaderweapon multiple times, so when Blitzenturt died one time to Outlanders, I grabbed his. At first I was going to offer it to the Ancients for sacrafice it at the top of the Jade Mountains, but then I realized the Ancients wouldn’t really care about it. So I gave it to an Acolyte as a mini-quest to have Selric destroy it – which Selric did. Anyway, given Vlad’s repeated posting on the subject, I thought he might rest easier knowing that his weapon was righteously returned to the Light.

In General, though, like I said above I think we were fifth on your guys’ hit list, and you were second on ours – so we didn’t have very many knock down drag out fights.

Urog: Liked your character, a lot. Just a gutsy, clever guy. Don’t autodelete your Imm, man! Get working on that area!!

Veulios: Don’t think I posted in your goodbye, but you were smart and memorable. You’re a good example of how to take on a ranger with a class that doesn’t seem suited for it.

Ceiekalak: You were definitely clever and wily, but through no fault of your own, suffered by comparison to Blitzenturt. Also, through no fault of your own, Empire seriously waned in power because you apparently couldn’t log on – it’s hard to throw in the towel and tell the Imms to appoint someone else, but sometimes it’s got to be done.

For quite some time I did show up at least four hours out of the day for at least five days of the week, and I'd try to have two of those days be eight hour sessions.
I'd normally be the only near hero Imperial, fine.
I'd help other Imperials out some with ranking at times, or I'd promote as per the Immortals pushing me to do so damned much. And all the people I'd put the effort into would delete after a week, probably to go play their Fortress, Scion, Villager or Outlander *Wry*
That right there wears you down, pretty much everyone appointed to be Elite or on the Council would just stop showing up after they got promoted to said position. Damned f*cking annoying.
Either ways, I had fun, and I had fun with you, good luck with your next.
As to the stepping down, I had considered it of late to a degree, but I had seen absolutely no promise among the Citizens, and this is in my entire time as Emperor, for one to raise to the position.
See you in the Fields

Later on you took Laelthir under your wing and taught me alot to say the least. Had a blast with you and luck with your next.

#35054, "Quick question on motivations against paladins."
In response to Reply #16

What were Tjoks motivations for killing paladins?

I ask this for a certain reason. Most definitely because you smoked my temperance paladin(Thaydan) outside the Elven vaults at one point or another. I'm not bitter, I don't even really care about it from a player standpoint. I'm more curious because I could walk with some outlanders as a paladin, but others I couldn't. I've not ever really taken the time to study outlander set up reference other races and classes and to be honest, it totally caught me by surprise. Hell, you're the first ranger I've died to in 3 years. I do have something to say about that certain fight.

1. I didn't even know you were online.
2. You taught me why I should walk through certain areas with Sanctuary up . To be honest I didn't do it often because of the virtue I had, and who I thought my enemies were. That coupled with the duration time and casting cost of the sup I figured I'd save it so I could fight longer in a battle rather than have to flee and recommune it(saving on mana).
3. You hit me so hard and so fast that I couldn't even get the word of recall through. You were a ####ing truck man. Ow.
4. I'd have asked this IC and I think I tried to but you were camo'd, it didn't seem like Tjok was an approachable sort of guy, so I figured I'd leave it until now and I dropped it.

Anyway, thanks for humbling me, and I gotta say you did a fantastic job. Now all you have to do is stop being a pansy outlander and bring those quality characters *BACK* to the fortress.

Good Job, and thanks for beating.

>What were Tjoks motivations for killing paladins?

OK. I specifically remember attacking your paladin. Why? Because it's one of the few times I did it.

I don't have the greatest answer for you, though, because my motivations toward paladins were constantly "evolving." I started out by picking a sphere (Destruction) that I knew would give me latitude to actively kill paladins (I wanted to fight Lariya), but then I got tapped for Harbinger, and I toned that down to represent the "Goals" of the cabal, especially Balance. On the other hand, there are three paths in the cabal, and for the majority of the time I was playing, I was the only cabal "leader." So I sort of felt this pressure to "represent" all three paths to some degree. Also, for a long period of time, the "Tenets" (written rules in the cabal HQ) were ambiguous on various points - they've since been clarified (Go Amaranthe).

It was difficult to work it out, but the long and short of it was, at that point in time (somewhat early on I think) I didn't actively hunt dwarves, duergar, paladins, and thieves unless they were targets of opportunity and there was another Outlander around that it would be important to "show it was OK to hunt these people." Your paladin happened to come along as a target of opportunity in that situation. It sounds kind of harsh - but I only sac'd your coins! It wasn't the ideal move on my part; it was probably a bad compromise. As time passed, I became more secure with my decision-making and Tjok's role, and was able to stay firmly rooted in "Balance". At that point, I generally wouldn't even attack "targets of opportunity" unless I had some strong suspicion that they stood in the way of "Thar-Eris". I had the ability to detect order, so that helped, as well.

I'm not sure if that answers your question. In summary, mid-late "life," I'd avoid attacking "targets of opportunity" unless I had some strong suspicion that they stood in the way of Thar-Eris. Early on, I'd generally not actively hunt them, but would if they were "targets of opportunity" and Outlanders that potentially would hunt them were present. And basically it's possible to be an Outlander that attacks paladins regularly (with limitations - you have to keep cabal goals in mind) or one that doesn't.

It was always a good time when you logged in. I even kind of felt bad for deleting Djesoe because I felt like I'd be leaving you hanging. When I played both Illisza and Djesoe it never seemed like there were many other outlanders, and it was rare that a fair amount would be on at the same time which became very boring. You having played for such a long time know what I'm talking about, I'm sure. I have no idea how you hung in there so long, but I guess that's what playing a outlander should be all about. Nicely done.

I was very impressed with Tjok the character, but also with Tjok's player, who stepped into a cabal that a number of "veteran" people tried for 10 minutes and gave up on. My impression was that Tjok made a lot of people give Outlander a double-take- he ran with the background and theme of the cabal well, he showed that they could own the wilderness effectively, and he helped it step away from a lot of the old Sylvan thoughts.

We're still tweaking it (as with all large projects for the first year or so, really), and I'd appreciate it if you shot me an email with your thoughts on Outlander as a whole.

You are walking on a thick organic ramp that has grown from the
trunk of the enormous, ancient tree that looms to high above to the
north. The ramp zigzags and spirals in an organic, chaotic fashion
that makes it difficult to navigate. A thick and dangerous bramble
of thorns grows profusely at the edge of the path, making ascent
impossible save for a singular path that meanders its way across the
wood. A round knot in the wood forms a ledge here, forming the only
flat area on the ramp. To the north, the ramp continues to ascend while

The Circle of Thorns
You are walking on a narrow ledge that protectively encircles the Tree of
Ages. The ledge is hewn into the great tree itself, and from the edge,
massive thorns have erupted, forming an impassable barrier around the
tree against anyone who would try to arrive here save up the main entrance.
The ledge has thus become known as the Circle of Thorns, the way by which
the associate enclosures of the Outlander Refuge may be safely reached.
The Circle of Thorns rounds the Tree of Ages to the west and east. To
the north, you may enter the sacrosanct hollow of the Tree of Ages itself,
while to the south an organic wooden ramp formed of the tree begins to
slope downwards towards the ground.

Didn't really get to interact with you much even though we were contemporaries and either you'd be camo'd or i'd be hidden. I didn't really know anything about you either, other than you were an outlander so that assassinate attempt on you was just me practicing as usual, wasn't personal. I never thought it'd come back to me. At the time I just felt rangers were a weak class in addition to lack of sylvan powers.

But, I have to say, that kill you got on me on the way back from mortorn was the coolest kill I think anyone's ever gotten on me. Especially at the time, I had a full set, hadn't died for a really long time. To get surprised like that especially with me being an assassin and being the one to ALWAYS initiate combat just renewed my love for the ranger class. Albeit I was hurt and stacked with maledictions from fighting Mlyarir I could've waited them out, but I had no idea you were even in the realm. You completely turned the tables on me like a ranger is supposed to. Then asking for peace after, kinda brought everything around and since then I just thought you were awesome. Well done, and much respect.

Having a failed Heroimm under my belt, I know what it takes to fail. I would have liked to IMM to "give something back" to CF, but at this point in time, it would have been another unsuccessful run.

Interacted with you as Ehlimsron and Arisnus, and you were a badass. I think I even interviewed you as Ehlimsron, though I had no induction power.

Your skill was unmatched by any ranger I've seen in ages, and you did a lot for the cabal. Was hoping to play another character under you, but I guess it's a bit late now.

Anyhow, good job. You weren't Griimbling, by chance, were you?

What a great character. Tough, fun, smart, and colorful. I'm glad I got to play with him, but sad it didn't get to be for very long.

Come back and play another Outlander! We need that patented Tjok cool in a new form.

I hate to see this, but we all have to go sometime. Too bad mine was so much sooner than yours, a fact that I still regret often because I quit for the wrong reasons (women trouble at home is never easy to deal with). You were a strong fighter and your roleplay was great. I don't know much else to say, glad I was around to see your character while I was. Good luck with your next.

Tjok...where to begin. I've known you through two characters now (perhaps even three if I strain my brain), and I was never less-than-impressed. I think you were one of the main reasons I did not personally jump in to the Scion/Outlander war; I had way too much respect for you, and did not want to be pressed into a situation where I would have to become your enemy. Thank you for choosing to broker a limited cease-fire with me.

I enjoyed all of our brief talks, and the few longer ones. Whenever I saw you visible, I made it a point to gate to you and greet you in person. I was never disappointed in that you were able to balance the ferocity of an Outlander with what I thought was very shrewd political cunning. I just wish we could have caused trouble together in the cities more.

Thanks again, and a very hearty thumbs-up from rich uncle Resty.

I don't think words are going to express what you meant to the cabal. You had a lot of responsibilty placed on you that would have made most characters crack. When things were slow in the cabal and the odds were lousy, just logging in made for a huge shift.

The roleplay was stellar. In 919 hours, I don't think I saw you slip once.

When a tribunal, who shall remain nameless, bragged to me about killing you, I did a head count. Combined, the entire criminals killed count for all tribunal heroes was only 1 more than Tjok's total. I forget how many heroes were actually in tribunal at the time it happened, but it was at least 10.

You definately fall into that very small category of kickass hero cloud rangers.

The best part of Tjok was how consistent you were with everyone who interracted with you, be it foe or friend.

I sure hope to see you again in the fields doing your thing, whatever it may be.

Lyristeon is great for the cabal. Although I didn't get to interact with you very much face-to-face with this character, you're a driving force and there was something missing when you were absent. Now that you're back, let the good times roll! Thanks for the compliment, hope you've recovered well from the multiple hurricanes, and good luck.

Kick ass character.

You had a tangible presence and my image of Tjok will stay a long time I
wager. I liked the wisdom dripping out now and then. You didn't preach, just
lived the right way and commented on things naturally. When I had done
something moronic for the zillionth time and ending up dead, Tjok would say
'Something wrong with Drahke?' and I would explain my embarrassing mishaps and
you would leave it at that.

I also appreciate the time you took to go through the script with Drahke. I
imagine you sighed inwardly when I said I couldn't read

I have one suggestion, when you induct someone, please let them know that you
can talk to the cabal guardian and ask about the items. It took me a lot of
time to figure out, especially the part about where your own item is.

You obviously knew what you were doing. I should have stuck around you some
more and learn something, but our playing times didn't match so well.
Fortunately, I was lucky enough to be there when you age died. Cool way to go
out.

I have a log of your final moments and can post it if you want.

We'll I've interacted with you as several chars. Some midranked elf tranny that never got in, recently as Ruffleguff, and as Bjai.

I'm not going to go into too many specifics except to say that Tjok was hands down the best char I've ever dealt with in CF. And I've had some pretty memorable experiences dealing with cabal leaders (I had a conjurer under Dauwryn, I was Grogrimms first induction when battle was empty, and I was Jinrohs first induction when battle was empty.)

Just wow, I liked Tjoks melancholy, I liked his aggressiveness...

Dealing with Tjok was more like dealing with a rank 55 IMM char, a force of nature with a soul, than dealing with a mortal.

Well, well done.

Here's to My Nizza, Tjizza.

I've played quite a few outlanders and it is/was by far my favorite cabal. Be it as preval discussing where we came from up north, or be it as triyet uninducting me because I lost my spirit you were always great. The outlanders seemed to rally around you like a pillar and always seemed ten times stronger then they really were thanks to you. It was also great the way you would always talk to all your inductees, giving them pep talks and wanting to get to know them. You were absolutely great and well, outlander is screwed now for a while .

As my orc chieftain, Ogrets, other outlanders would just point and yell SLAVERY when I had the horde/orc slave but what was great, is when you asked "Is that slave?" And in orcish RP for greater allies I debated it with you, and eventually got you so you wouldnt strike me and I Even helped you raid trib once. I never got total protection but it felt realllly awesome having a char debate with an orc about slavery. thanks a lot

It's generous to have kind words for someone that uninducted you, so thanks. I did it because at the time we (the cabal as a whole) were getting our asses kicked - and there you were saying you lost your spirit and drive and wanted to end your life. I don't know, it's silly, but something in me said "Too many people have went through Hell fighting these odds for him to be able to delete and have (OUTLANDER) in front of his name". When you went and reactivated, I had to make it hard for you to get back in because I wanted you to "appreciate" it - it seemed to me that people who have to do some serious work to get reinducted turn out to be the best and most memorable characters. Anyway, it would have been cool if you worked your way back in.

What a blast of a character you've been to watch and interact with. For some reason, you've always been memorable, even from your character's earliest days as a roleless cloud giant, the low-lying sphere destruction giant with zero pks that I had dubious feelings about. With a little prodding I got more out of you, and I remember the day I made you Harbinger, it was a toss-up between you and another character who I remember nothing about now. While vocalizing my dilemna to another staff member, the scales tipped towards you, because, of all inconsequential things, you had a nice warcry. I remember having concern about having yet another grunty-voiced Outlander leader after Andrlos, especially when he had no role, but I saw the promise there and made what felt like something of a slightly weighted coin toss at the time. But boy, I never did regret it.

I do not think many will argue with me in saying that you have been hands-down the best Outlander the cabal has seen in every aspect of the word, and I only hope you had half as much fun as I did.

Even at the end. I logged on this evening and when I saw you so close to age death, I had to stay to witness the finale. Waaay past my bedtime.

(And in case you were wondering, no, I had nothing to do with the exact time and place you died. I was just sitting there, waiting. That was 100% purely random!)

Here's the finale after you were gone, as I imagine you missed it:

High above the land, soars a mighty raven, its dark wings spotted with white flecks of unseasonable snow...

Beneath the raven's wings blows a frigid wind, blustering north in the heavens...

The raven caws and the winds gather to form the apparition of a mighty titan, a great spirit soaring after the raven to the north..

Beyond sea and sky and mountain the pair travel, until the raven is but a dark speck on the horizon, and the wind is nothing but a howl in the distance that fades away.

An Ancient has been born.

Take care, and hope to see you around the 'fields again in another form soon.

Even though I have much less to work with from an outlander standpoint, as I don't get to "see" it all. I would say you are the best outlander I've ever interacted with be it friend or foe because I was on both sides of that coin. I really appreciated your friendship as a mortal and outlander will truly miss your strength.

You weren't the "cookie-cutter" woodsy guy and I really liked your whole "giant from the north." Your in room description was awesome too, props to Amaranthe for that one. Anyway, great job and I hope we interact in some other way. I'll save a little bit for when you actually post.

Thanks for everything. *Especially* for staying up Waaay past your bedtime Funny thing is, I was actually getting hesitant to log in that late because I thought Tjok would die when Amaranthe wasn't around.

You did a lot of little things that I appreciated at the time, and also inserted a few little things that I never noticed until later - fun surprises (like Tjok's description). You gave me latitude and freedom to make decisions, and trusted me enough to string my own rope. I think that's so key for cabal leaders. I remember one time the IMMs were grousing about players not taking initiative, and my response was "take off the straightjackets, give them more control! Let them make things fluid!" So thanks.

As for having fun, you betcha. Sometimes it felt like I was playing a Heroimm that still got to mix it up with the players.
