Chapter 4

Varaez had carried Nazin a few miles into the woods, and by the time Nazin had
come back to consciousness, Varaez was heating the blades of his hatchets in
a nearby fire. Tied and bound, Nazin spat in defiance "I'll never speak!"
"That is alright, I don't want you to speak...I want you to show me the new house
sign..for which you will need only one hand." Varaez replied with a smile. Nazin's
eyes grew wide as Varaez approached with a glowing red hatchet. He placed the tip
of the blade of the hatchet against Nazin's shin just above the ankle, a hiss
accompanied by the smell of singed hair and burning flesh wafted as Nazin's eyes
grew ever wider with terror. Varaez grinned, as he grabbed a nearby rock and
slammed it into the blunt edge of the hatchet, immediately severing Nazin's left
foot while the hot blade cauterized the wound. Nazin screamed in agony, glancing
at Varaez with disbelief...

Varaez practiced the Azrel house sign as he made his way back to the village. He
had buried Nazin's..parts in various places upon the way home so that he'd never
be discovered. Nazin's clothes were inside of his pack, and the house sign comitted
to memory. He had decided he would seek the advice of his Lord prior to attempting
an actual infiltration.
