Chapter 1

Varaez values knowledge above all else, he believes that knowing ones enemy
is the greatest key to victory. This is a lesson he put into practice during
his ten year training within the academy.

Varaez is the youngest amongst three male brothers of his house 'Azrel'. His
older brothers Zinjin and, Tarzael had both shown aptitude for wizardry and
had been trained as wizards. They were valued much more by matron than Varaez

During a running in which his house participated, Varaez was betrayed by his
brothers, they wounded him grievously. Varaez was narrowly able to evade them
by doubling back upon his own blood trail. Unable to track him down, and
knowing that he was badly wounded, they assumed him dead and returned with
the raiding party to the underdark.

Varaez was able to tend to his wounds, using methods employing soil, and
various plants he had learned about from veteran surface raiders. He
narrowly avoided an Orc attack during his travels and eventually found his
way to the city of Galadon.

Because of the betrayal at the hands of his two brothers, Varaez has a strong
hatred of magic and those who use it. He has devoted his life to seeking out
ways to kill wizards.

Varaez will always seek to learn, and perfect new methods of combat. His
belief is that when one stops adapting, only death remains.
