Chapter 4

And thus came the fleeing. It came with a slap of an oil-lamp upon the head of
a bored Brothel guard half-awake during the mid-day. The favored times were
morning and night. Little traffic in and out made it ideal. And with that I
sprinted nearly dragging this poor girl southward to the nearest gate that
seemed manageable from my sight. There was no stealth. Only confusion and
desperation. Somehow, we managed on the a road. To this day I do not know how.
The sounds of armor and rallying signaled what I thought to be my death.
But I managed to find rest in the lush fields of a small town not too far away.

It was here I found a temple. I did not know the people around. Nor did I trust
them with the escape so fresh. It was unlike any place I had been before.
It bore a feeling of solace. So we resided here often. I read the texts of
literature there. And would frequent this woman who claimed herself to be
"The Mother". She possessed the most enduring sense of spirit i've encountered.
The young girl I had such a delightful time splashing within the pond of
"The Maiden"--as she called her.

I studied the ways of the Coven of Amaranthe. I found that I would end up
taking up the way of prayer like my Uncle and many of my family I have long
since seen. I would take up clerigy in the arts of healing. I would resist
corruption. I would resist the Coin. I remain true and stand against the the
threats and defilement to the Great Cycles. I would became a Sunwarden of
Thar-Eris--as during my time I began to understand the power of the Ancients.
And how the Goddess herself, was one. I was not going to live for myself but
be hand of restoration.

Much like the moment that drew my freedom from the Brothel, I would continue
to embrace just that. It was that innocent child that brought that freedom.
It was that undeniable passion and empathy that I will forever cherish and
invoke. There are many others like that. Living in slaver and surpressed.
The Ancients, children, and even the old. They need a hand. They need to know
to endure because the return is coming. The Cycle's are spinning. There is
hope.

As to what happened to the young girl. I'm uncertain. on one of my returns to
the temple she was gone. Perhaps her own personal adventure to start. Perhaps,
just perhaps.. She was going out to give revelation to another capable person
just how powerful they can be. A form of empowerement and motivation. Even so,
I do hope to meet that girl again in my life. And thank her--I know what I did
for her. Saved her life, I'd dare say. But she also gave birth once more to mine.
And for that I cannot thank enough.
