Chapter 1

The Jade mountains is where my small family resided. We were the warmth in
what would call the 'cold' times. Adventurers of all types would make the
pass to vaults of my kin. Or wants to be just a little southward bound to the
heated desert. I spent my days with my Uncle. We saved who we could from disaster.
Many did not know the trails as we did. For it was our home and foreign to their
taste. Or simply She--the earth--plays fickle games with those who have tried to
rely less on her curves and more on themselves.

He was a strong preacher and was able to cleanse the seemingly cursed. In return
we always received smiles out of embarrasment and little discs that always seemed
rather odd to us. They called them "coin". They represent wealth and power. I was
always gifted them since I was so young. My friends and I would flip them or see
who could make them fly the furthest. I was told later that they represent power
and wealth to those who have enslaved themself to the coin.

That is where our story turns. It was during one escavation of adventurers that
we stumbled upon a pair of armored warriors. Not too unusual considering the
grandeaur of many of those we have helped in the past. What happened next, however,
was unusual. They convinced my Uncle to come see how the coin can give power
and wealth. He was my Elder and I was learning my path through him. So I was bound
to go with them.

They made way--of course with our help--back to the worn trails of the forest west.
And soon we have entered a city only known to me through storytelling. The supposed
city of Seantryn Modan. Guards brought us to the palace where we were rushed in
a greeted by many. A table of prepared and one of the armored soldiers rescued told
us he was one of the noble lieutenants of the Empress. That we were to be his guest.

He showed us how the coin could buy food. We did not need to hunt. How it clothed us.
He showed my Uncle how it could get him love. It corrupted him. Not to dwell but he
became a 'priest' in the local temples offering healing for coin. Part of the profit
was for him and I. But the majority went to his 'partner' the Lieutnant.
