Chapter 6

I always wondered if there was no night, or if there was no day. If nothing
divided the passing hours that was distinguishable. I was inquisitive, so I
sought to find out. It was not immediately obvious how one would go about
finding out the effects of an environment of total darkness. I happened upon
an alchemist in his lab one day, and he was feeding mixtures to a rat. The
rat would suddenly grow large and stay that way..then go back to normal size.
I asked him why he used a rat? And his answer was that if a potion worked on
a rat..it worked on a human or other being.

It was there the beginnings of an idea began to take shape.
