Chapter 10

She awakens.. feeling far from normal, and habitually reaches at her chest
quickly.. "Where is my jewel?.." she thinks quizzically as her body lights up
with pain.. she squeezes her.. eyelid. She feels her face in horror and tries
to scream as her jaw unlocks and falls out of place. She pushes it back and
rests her arm on her breast as slowly as possible. Her eye is gone along with
the eyelid.. her nose.. lips.. gone. She looks around and notices she is safe
in her bed at home, covered in bandages. It is night time and she can hear
the gentle hoot of owls outside of her window. There are some medical tools
next to her on a table as well, and her mind can do nothing but wonder in
amazement as what has happened as she slowly drifts back to sleep.

She begins to dream.. so vividly though, as if it's etched itself into her
memories.. Everything moves so quickly yet so slow at the same time. A
menacing Duergar stands over her screaming.. holding a blue jewel in her
face. She shakes her head violently and he slaps her with brute force. She
opens her eyes to her limbs being held down by many creatures as her face is
cut away mercilessly by the Duergar.. still speaking about the Jewel. She
cries and cries, then passes out from the pain. Her eyes open once again,
bleeding onto herself.. The Duergar stands in amazement, and holds up the
Jewel slowly.. his mouth begins to move but she spits blood in his face
before words escape. He grabs his torch.. and lights her on fire.. but he
hears screams coming from outside.. he turns to look at her, grabs his axe
hanging from the door, and makes his way outside. Turning to look at her for
the last time, he throws the jewel on the ground and smashes it with the axe
as he slams the door. She howls in piercing agony as the fire engulfs her for
minutes.. she feels herself slipping as she looks around the darkness.. A
blue aura from the broken jewel shines brightly and consumes her,
annihilating the fire. She moans, binded to something, for over a half hour
until the sound of battle becomes enraging.

Teldasill wakes up gasping for air, and moves her eye about the room quickly.
Nienna sits next to her crying.. knowing her nine year old daughter shall die
soon. Teldasill tells her it is fine, that she will get to be with her
father, Hworan. She tries to be strong for her mother has already lost half
of her family, she does not want to die and leave her with nothing. They
speak for some time and the Priestess walks in with a look on her face most
would think not suitable in this situation. The Priestess kneels down next to
Teldasill and begins to speak.. "Telda, I have some grand news, that you may
fully thank the forests for. I begin by asking you if you wish to live or
die..". She looks at the priestess with a blank look and Nienna quickly says
that she wishes to live. Teldasill nods slowly. The priestness nods and fills
a needle with a strange liquid from a fuschia vial, afterwards injecting it
into Teldasill's heart, then nodding sagely says, "Our alchemist has
concocted this potion from a rare plant within these woodlands.. It shall
null your current pain to mere irritation, preserving your body like a fossil
that has never been fossilized. The only concomitant action is that your
physical growth will be stunted permanentl
