Well god damit! I said it a little bit in my goodbyes...but YOU kept me going as Igbah...little echos, everything. When you have as many hours in a char as I had, things tend to get boring, the same every day, and just plain not fun to play. You coming back definitly brought me through the slow point of the char. Again, thanks! Igbah was the first char that I had that was on 'your' side, and I can say that I am truely upset that my endless string of villagers never looked at your religion as a rp angle. Again, you brought so much to this game, and you will be missed greatly. I'm half crying right now...........just kidding. Good luck with life, and whatever else you do. If your ever in the great outback of NORTH DAKOTA, feel free to drop me a line at d-rock160@hotmail.com. I feel like just repeating myself again...but it is us...the playerbase that should be thanking you
Happy travels Derik

Well this is a sad thing for me to see. I always enjoyed watching people when you were around, as Soucivi, as well as when you were playing Eshval or Innis. There was just a great presense there that will be missed in both the rp and the general feel of the game itself. Sorry to see you go, but wish you all the best.
Offhandedly I am curious. A long while back I had created a transmuter that had sent notes to you as if they were works of art that he had crafted from parts of his victims. This was before the court when you still had the Mausolem and were going by the Muse. Just curious if you had the time to take a look at any of them or what you thought, or if you even remember~! If not no worries, and GL out there.

yeah I took a look through all the information that I had on old characters and I can't find anything to help direct the search. I think its all on my old hard drive which is stored around my palce somewhere, I just have to dig it up.
In any case it's not that big a deal, so no worries.

Yeah, though to be honest, if it's not prying, there's one other character that I have nearly everything for, and that's Nazdreth. Scion Dark-Elf Shapeshifter around lvl 36 when he deleted that you personally inducted into scion when the leaders of the Cabal at the time were just running me around.
Curious if you had any insight into him that I could know about? Especially since I don't think that was normal procedure for an IMM to induct someone when the leaders were still around and kicking.
Sorry to be asking about so many characters but curiosity is just eating me up.
Thanks for the time.

I appreciated all the work you put into Scion/Outlander, your religion, and your various agents and enemies among the mortal world. I echo Zulgh's sentiment that we always need more roleplay-heavy staff, and your absence will leave a void there.
As for the characters, I always felt you were most 'at home' as Innis, and what you brought to Outlander in that guise. As you know, I'm generally very wary of people changing roles often as an Immortal (*), but you remain one of the few who was able to do it without diminishing either.
valguarnera@carrionfields.com
(*): For players: The brief version of my argument there is that religions often take time to take root and really develop, and any change tends to create a lot of chaos for empowerees, plus a lot of hard work (shrines, tattoos, etc.) goes to waste when one is retired. I'm willing to bend when a staff member's "had a good run" in the old role, which Eshval/etc. had done.

I never got to delve too deeply into your religion but I know you enthralled your followers and enjoyed every last minute of it. And that's what matters. I remember you giving me a talk about quests and such, and showing me your room with all the nutty mobs in it for running various things. Still feel a bit creeped out from that but anyways. Even though we stood on opposite sides of the coin I was glad to have known you and I'm always around if you ever want anything.
I don't know why Cadothu doesn't have a who list with him, you, and me (Desmonn) in it..that would be a classic.
Wish you the best.

Still searching around for that who list Corr... Found this in the meantime.
<48 Human Thi> (PK) Soucivi Daneloth the Tea Pusher of the Inn, High Herald of the Eternal Star
<563/563 452 685><9023 civilized standing 11 PM> l souc Soucivi is of mixed heritage. The timeless beauty of the east, the fluid, deadly grace of lush jungles, and the clean-modeled, arrogant sculpting of warrior racers living under northern skies all find expression in her, as in the end product of some world-spanning sultan's harem.
Tall, she gives an impression of being taller still - sleek, almost bonelessly graceful, taut muscle sheathed in velvet flesh a bare shade lighter than caf au lait.
Hers is a runner's physique, costumed for the artist's eye, with long, tapering legs flowing almost uninterrupted to slim hips and high, rounded buttocks. Her belly is taut, flat - waist long and narrow. She shows just a shadow of ribs beneath small, softly rounded breasts. A sculpted collarbone draws together slim shoulders, and smoothly rounded arms. Her long, slender neck is set to arrogant carriage and holds her head at the precise angle from which empresses look down on lesser beings.
A heavy cloud of coffee dark hair lightly mixed with the silver-grey that comes with age, curls, twines and tumbles to the middle of her deeply muscled, smooth back. The curls raggedly frame a face with high, sweeping cheekbones, smooth forehead and long, dark brows. Her eyes are almondine, long and wide. Warm, bottomless, the brown of a deep jungle river, aloof and sensual, they are shrouded by heavy ragged lashes. Her nose is high-bridged, lush, beautifully sculpted, generous but not over-ripe. Her delicate, rounded jaw and chin caught midway between sharp and strong, complete an arresting portrait of racial harmony.
Her voice though, is low, soft and whiskey rough - like a cat's tongue, soothing and painful. Soucivi, a female human, is in perfect health.
Soucivi is using: <worn on finger> (Glowing) a fiery ring <worn on finger> a ring set with a single sapphire <worn around neck> (Glowing) (Humming) the Ankh of Loch Terradian <worn around neck> a wooden hummingbird pendant <worn on body> the chitinous shell of a rainbow runner <worn on head> (Glowing) the star-set crown of Ellithyr <worn on face> a filmy black veil <worn on legs> some worn studded leather leggings <worn on feet> a pair of black suede boots <worn on hands> (Humming) a pair of black enameled gauntlets <worn on arms> (Humming) the bracers of Archery <worn about body> a tattered, color shifting cloak <worn about waist> the blademaster's sash <worn around wrist> (Glowing) (Humming) a bracelet of electricity <worn around wrist> a braided silver bracer <wielded> a silver studded mace <dual wield> (Glowing) the dagger of betrayal
You dont stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing.

I guess the lesson is never disappear.
You may have had some crackpot ideas (but hey, who hasn't...let me tell you about MY idea for the mage cabal revamp...), but you definitely made a positive contribution to the game. I put you in the roleplay immortal category (man we need more of those) and I thought you brought a lot to that corner of the game. Thanks.
Good luck with your future. So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Thanks for the interaction re: Minos. I'm sorry it didn't seem to turn out like you were hoping it would - I honestly didn't ask for what happened.
If it makes you feel any better (doubtful, but maybe(?) the whole ordeal made it harder for me to get Maran'd, I think - I definitely got a "boot up your ass" vibe from Baerinika for a couple weeks after. (Not surprising, given the purity aspect of her religion and all that).
The whole experience was rewarding to me overall. Thanks again, and good luck in the future.

We've had very limited interaction with each other, and what interaction there was between us was seldom positive. At first I was not upset that you were leaving, but now I am. The things you did that I disagreed with were never "wrong," they were just different from the things I do. I apologize, because I let those things cloud my judgment to all the good things you did for CF.
I am truly sorry to see you go.
I don't know what your "RL circumstances" are, and if you don't want to share them everyone else needs to respect that. If you have problems with other staff members, that's between you and the staff. It's none of anyone's business.
My heart always goes out to people who are hurting, and so as my final words to you, Eshval, I leave you with this:
William Ernest Henley. 1849–1903 Invictus OUT of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

I took a few days before posting because I was bummed when I saw that you deleted. I had really wanted to work on that project of yours that we had discussed from your first go around.
I always enjoy our talks. Even about RL issues because we were always able to keep that part of us in our perspectives. It is about these issues, more than anything, that I wish you the best. Because this place is a game and outside of this place is where things really matter. You know how to get a hold of me if you ever need to talk.

this isnt fair. You know I decided to get pregnant just for you, so I could give you a toy baby to run rampant all over thera with, you know that dont you? I actually had to ask the nexan imms basically just how far I could take the pregnancy, raising the kid, and wrote in my role i wanted you to have it however you wanted it for your own uses, just because you made alot of this char fun, and me rl happy with having your fangs. On another char my last char you likely knew, just a char I wanted to experiment with a class I didnt know. I guess you saw with this one I learned a few things. damnit eshval, I think with about 90% of my chars you have bitten / interacted with while you were as eshval. Even as back as seffar until I burned the crap out of my hand due to me and my brother playing at work and myself deep frying it, I always loved you. I will honestly miss you, and you were my favorite imm. Just kinda wanna say thank you for being a part of cf, except the whole baby thing with this char you know I had to choke my char to make it so I wouldnt see a man have his way with my char? I am a man in rl dangit. lol. eh sigh later eshval, and hope you come back one day my next char cant be a follower of you, I think I only really ever had one. didnt get tatted wasnt the race for it, but had wonderful bitings and interactions then too. Its also so bad that I would rather be full looted each death, even lag deaths that I suffer quite often, than to lose those fangs. after the last time you bit me, I died an hour later because of lag drowning. anyway, I am out. I need to sleep, I work 10 hour shifts three nights a week, and last night was busy as hell. later eshval and good luck in rl

Spell out your reasons for leaving, or all the people who play the game are going to have no choice but to invent their own.
If the reasons look bad for certain people (whether they be Imms, Players, or some fella in "wherever the hell you live" that has stolen your desire to play with freaky voodoo sex), spit them out so people know and can have a resolution.
I am sure you won't.

Eshval's reasons for leaving are because they were abducted by alians and they put a probe in place much like Cartman's, Eshval can no longer sit in a chair long enough to play CF due to the giant Sattelite dish that deploys itself periodically from thier orfices. In reality I dont want to know why they left. I'm a firm believer that what happens behind the scenes by leadership in scenarios that have a potential negative impact on morale/unity of the leadership group should be kept behind closed doors. And if such was the case I respect Eshval's decision to do so. For all we know they could just be completely burned out on the game from putting so much effort into it and they decided it was time to dedicate more of thier free time to doing the RL things. Or they could have just gotten a smoking hot girlfriend that keeps them too busy to play. Who knows.

He might not have given an itemized list, but if you look at his posts, responses, and non-responses over the last few months you can see the pattern. This has been building for a while.
Hopefully things will resolve, but airing the laundry fully would likely cause those involved to fortify their positions rather than listen to each other's perspectives. In the event it never resolves, we can ask whoever is around a few years from now in a new addition to the conspiracy post we saw after the Cabdru unveiling.
Let us respect their expressed wishes to keep their affairs semi-private and hope for the best.

That is precisely what I was talking about. It's not much...and the poster wasn't trying to be malicious. But right there, in black and white..."It's clearly an altercation between some Imms." Hence, the rumor mill starts cranking out hate-pepper not with a rant by some loony, but by some dude who was just making an educated guess and presenting it as a fact. Next, people will speculate as to which Imm the supposed altercation was with...give it a year and it'll be presented as gospel and backed up with an intricate weave of "interpretable, but not necessarily factual" links to old posts. Ugh.
I just know how people think around this joint. Well, at least the outspoken conspiracy theorists.
Again, I am totally cool with you keeping it on the down-low. I would do the same (though honestly, if I wanted to leave without causing any fuss, I'd say it was some big RL stuff and let it die with that).

almost for all cf russians. You were our favorite Imm for a long, long time. Despite our Engrish you presented us hours of cool rp. watching us and adding depth into our characters.
I still think that both your followers (Greddarh. Taelina) were my best chars at least at RP side. You really made me want to RP not just for getting rewards but just because I can get pleasure of it.
Thanks for everything.

Wow, you will be missed. It sucked the first time you left, I was glad to see you come back. I've tried to roll a few followers, my most recent was a scion shaman but I just got sick of all the insane gangs. The character however I loved, I was really into that one.
I had always been curious about the fountain in your shrine...
Before you left the first time, I had done a follower with a role about a serpent goddess. Did that have any influence on the statue? It looked an aweful lot like what I had described.
If not...well, great minds and all...

Well this is a sad sight to see. As Innis you empowered my first empowerment character, and then a slew of failed paladins, shamans, and druids. I was sad to see you hang up that religion. And while I was never able to get into a mindset that allowed me to feel like I could play an Eshval follower, that doesn't mean I didn't want to!
My favorite little interaction was a little brawl in the inn around Halloween a couple years back. I screwed up the log so didn't capture any of the fight but this was the mob which I am 99% sure you were controlling.
(Translucent) (Red Aura) A large female stands in the darkness, licking 'something' off her finger
Hormah the Dark Sister of Tormented Pleasures concentrates for a moment, then resumes her position.
Hormah the Dark Sister of Tormented Pleasures licks the blood off of the head of Mavinero.
You say to Hormah the Dark Sister of Tormented Pleasures 'I see you have gotten your blood.'
Was even more fun because of the complete randomness of it. Completely unexpected when I poked my head in the inn.
Anyway, you were an asset to CF and will be missed. Good luck with whatever fills your time in the future.

You are one of the reasons I play this game. I find the game mechanics a bit boring, but the roleplay, writing of roles, interacting with people like you, to be highly addictive.
I tried dungeons and dragons years ago, and a guy running it was amazing. (Dungeon master) You actually felt like you were in a different world with the work he put it. Once this guy stopped running the games, the game became rather dismal. (Bunch of creeps gathering to roll dice and hack and stuff...)
ANyhow....point being, you really made this game fun for some of us.
Loved the roleplay ,the whole vampire thing. Wish there was a vampire lich class, named in your honor.
Take care,
Crulvane, Malic, Anith, and countless other creepy scion followers of yours.

My family dragged me to church yesterday, and in one of those rare moments of spiritual enlightment, I had an epiphany that can only be described to a traditional christian as heretical: God is a personification of one's community. I won't digress here to explain my leap, but interested parties can pester me elsewhere if they really want more information.
"God as community" is relevant to your departure in two ways. First, each loss of a community member leads to a loss of those differing viewpoints that enrich the whole. CF and the immortal staff become weaker with the loss of each person's unique contributions. Look at what would happen to our government if our fearless leader were surrounded by yes-men. Oops.
Second, this heretical view also means that the narcissistic "I am God", or in this case, "I am CF" is the most dangerous belief an individual can have, for it creates a feedback loop that isolates oneself from reality. The wording of your goodbye suggests that insurmountable disagreements exist somewhere in the upper echelons of CF, and although this is common in all organizations, I entreat all parties not to get caught up in some sort of destructive god-complex.
You departure does me sorrow, but in parting, may your life be filled with all that is good.
Sothlice.

In regard to my epiphany, the immortal staff is a community, just as the whole of CF is a community. As such, there can a arise out of it a communal construct seemingly with a life and will of its own. It's that aspect which makes working within a dynamic group interesting.
I respect that you say you have deleted without reasons personal or professional/immortal. At your request, I will not read into your need to either depart or the purpose of your an enigmatic goodbye, and I am sincere in saying that I appreciate the varied and diverse roles every person plays on CF. As an example of your contribution, it was your Innis persona that turned me onto roleplaying here, for prior to that I thought this mud was all about regearing, getting ganked down, and full looted. Rinse and repeat.
I would have quit playing years ago if I had not encountered your characters, because mindless entertainment can be obtained anywhere. Frankly, it is the complexity that this world offers that keeps sucking me back in when something or someone angers me, when I get frustrated at my substandard connection speed, or when RL reminds me it is more important.
Should you never return as an immortal incarnation, I hope that you will at least come back to inspire us with your mortal characters.
Godsped.

I've only ever had one follower of yours. Back before the the changes to your religion. I had been planning another follower. An eccentric, and nearly impossible role to follow. But I was willing to try anyways. Wood-Elf Druid Sphere Beauty turned Evil NightReaver.
We had some pretty decent interactions. My follower of yours was Mhaltharsta (spelling). A dark-elf healer who tore apart the bodies of various creatures and healed them together to create something totally new. I hope you enjoyed that role.
I had 2 interactions with you as Khrathtyn. One was direct, the other indirect. The indirect kind of pissed me off as it totally ruined our Hell trip. But it was nonetheless appreciated. The direct was as expected and I'm sorry I couldn't go forward more with it.
As it is, Carrion Fields has lost an amazing IMM. One willing/able to spend their time interacting with mortals.

It was an awesome trip. You made things tricky. I wished I had kept Maaltharsta around longer as I enjoyed writing the role and coming up with different creatures. Thought it was funny when you gave me a bit of Empowerment to kill someone, and I did almost immediately. Or I would have, had the thief not finished the elf off.
I guess I'll have to warp the role around something different now.
Best of luck with your book and everything else. Keep us updated in your blog.

Very pleasant to be be appreciated to this degree, but I was just one of many people who do their parts to make it all come together. Much like your observations, I enjoy a dynamic/living CF that can evolve and become better. Perhaps this is a "stone tablet" issue that will be addressed by the current player/immortal base.
After being a paper and pen DM for years (my kids grew up on gaming storied), I have learned that as a moderator, it is more about presentation and enjoyment of the players. If that is not provided along with compassion, understanding, empathy and some continuity,no matter how fancy the packaging and coding, there is no "life" in the construction.
I appreciate your kind words, and thank you.

In the end, it really is about having fun and if you believe the time you spend on the game is worth it. I imagine that I will have a fall out of the game eventually, just not at the moment.
I personally don't want to know the circumstances behind your leave. I'm fairly sure you had a good time during your tenure here. And we, the playerbase, enjoyed everything about you.
I'll be sure to keep up with your blog. You had a tremendous impact on my enjoyment of the game, and I greatly appreciate it.
Good luck.

Man this sucks. I'm so thankful to have get behind my char and even though my rp is horrible. I'm glad you understood that as a player I had my own style and you didn't throw the book at me, instead you help push me along the path that I enjoy as a player. I just want to thank you you made me enjoy the game alittle bit more. I hope whatever your reasons are they'll fade and you'll return in some fashion.

Hentogi says to Soucivi 'I need a drink called "Godfather's Sweet Lovin."' Hentogi says to Soucivi 'So I can head up to all the ladies an say.. You want some "Godfather's Sweet Lovin?"' Soucivi gives a goblet of chilled goblet of red wine named 'Godfather's Limp Lovin' to Hentogi. Soucivi says 'My work here is done.'

He was an Empire shifter heroimm, an incredibly cool guy as I remember through my limited IC interactions with him.
Could have been someone else though.

I've got a lot of fond memories of you as Odelius and Cadothu, when you were a mortal, as well as a heroimm. Actually found a log of you having a long chat with me, talking me out of deleting when times were really rough, haha. I'll miss you as a player and hope that life treats you well, wherever you end up.
I quit playing CF after Cadothu died and never got to interact with you as Eshval though. I hope you had fun though!
Quick snap from back in the day.

Why is it the good ones always have to leave...
You'll be highly missed. I would also like to throw in my vote to find out why - always felt like your ideas were top notch, especially the blog ones....was it just a disagreement on something in-game?

Even if I haven't played a follower, you seem to be one of the coolest parts of CF.

Sorry to see you go, all my favorite RP imms always seem to end up dissapearing on me, You gave CF a fresh look into a lot of aspects of cf in the same ways that Grummorum (My all time favorite IMM) did. Your RP was believable and fun to get into. Best of luck in whatever you move into, hopefully you get the mortal bug once in a while and help Enrich the CF world from time to time. You will definatly be missed.

Comparing you to Grummorum is meant as a compliment, I love RP intesive IMMs. You are ranked in my top Three with Grummy and Thrakburzug, every time I was ever involved in IC RP with one of the three of you at the inn or elsewhere you three completely oozed the essence of your char (in the case of Thrak puss as well) at all times and had impeccable RP greatly enhancing the imagery with your awesome grasp of the use of emotes and char appropriate speech. The entrance of one of you three to an event of any type that was going down the direction of blah would instantly turn around and become a highlight of that charachter's life. I know there are other imms that are good at RP, just three of you I placed as in a class of thier own.
*Scar could easily be lumped in here as well now that I think about it*

Please explain why you leaving. I sure will miss you.
Over the last week when I didn't have any power from Hurricane Gustav, I got a role dedicated to you. I was thinking to go your way and probably try to see the court.
Thank you for everything for this character. Is it any possible I can talk to you through email? Will you still be checking the "CF" email? Or is there a different email?

>There >are those among us who feel it is wrong to hop into a mob for >a minute's worth of interaction or to give someone a llama, or >even a hard time.
A minute's interaction isn't wrong.
A minute's forcing a mob to spam flurry at someone (for example) with no interaction I would say is not a good thing.
No question, when you set your mind to interaction as you often did, you were great at it. It's something the game always needs more of and I can't think of a higher compliment to pay than to say that.
P.S. Innis was always my favorite, although I think I only ever followed Eshval.

Thanks for the Little interactions you had with one or two of my Necros (think it was Nysrend).
Random pop in on people really makes the game more fun for all of us.
Best of luck with whatever you end up doing in the future
