#39292, "Gumbldink is no more."
|
Alright, so something happened that made the character untenable in my mind. We'll leave the reason for the deletion at that.
Goodbyes:
Immortals
- Aarn: My experiences with you were by far and away some of the happiest moments I've had on CF in a long long time. You never stopped being funny, supportive, and just an all around great imm. If I decide to continue playing you will see more from me, that I can assure you. I am really sorry for letting you down this way. If I thought I could have continued on under the circumstances dealt I would have, if only for you.
- Eshval: I assume it was you who took the form of the Empress that one day since you rubbed my cheek on one of my follow-up trips to Seantryn. Thank you for that, it really gave Gumbldink something to do with the myriad hours of downtime. It is something Acolytes should probably do more of anyway.
- Innis: I thought for sure I was going to get slayed time and again for what I would often say about you. I don't know how much more emasculating I could have been in regards to you, but it was all in good fun. That time you came to us in Kiadana-Rah and covered me in the scent of summer and flowers had me laughing my ass off. Thank you.
I think those are all of the imms that were openly involved (other than as an immortal or mob) in Gumbl's life. If there were any others sticking their fingers into the pot please let me know. I always like knowing who was watching.
As for goodbyes to mortals, I couldn't possibly remember everybody that I interacted with so if you post I'll respond.
As for Gumbldink's role, which I'll be paying for and hoping that it will be up speedily...
Gumbldink never wanted to be a healer. He never wanted to be an Acolyte. He never wanted to be Prophet. He wanted to be an axe wielding dwarven berserker in the depths of Mortorn throwing himself at duergar and generally putting his life on the line for his kin. He was terrible at wielding axes, but I would often practice with axes when I was bored. I'd find some out-of-the-way place and wield an axe and do emotes of me imitating axe specialists. He was urged by the Moudrilar monks to take up the more peaceful arts and so he did, but he hated them for it and he hated himself for everything he'd become.
You can't look at him and say he was a bad Acolyte, however, because he was doing the shieldy type things first and foremost and the dwarven berserker things once he'd gotten to the bottom of his "To do" list. Everything I post in Java's thread on Shokai's forum I did and I would definitely try to do these things before I got involved in any combat situations.
I'll leave the role at that. One thing I will say though is that the hero ranks are really stupid at this point. You've got people starting fights with others out of the sheer boredom of it all. Why are neutral villagers attacking Fortress warriors? Why are druids feature-abusing to kill villagers? Why are uncaballed gnomes killing everything that moves? It's really stupid. Having a druid chameleoned outside of the Fortress while an uncaballed evil assassin (city dwelling if ever there was such a thing) kills the maran trying to lure me in is stupid. Anyways...maybe now I can get my dissertation finished.
