Chapter 10

Sometimes the only way to judge yourself by comparing yourself to foes. And
sometimes by comparing yourself to friends. It is a never ending road
attempting to be as good as another, you can only be as good as you can be,
and nothing else. And once a lifetime you meet someone who is not only good,
but one who makes you better. Talisin the drunkard was my muse of sorts. As a
fellow chalice bearer he made me think deeper and harder into things I took
for granted. I have become better since I met him and I think I will contunie
to grow.

The Grotto rang with the sounds of songs and battle, dust and blood
flew upon the crimson winds. Two battled until only one stood, over the
corpse of fellow chalice bears final corpse, A friend and student and so much
more.

In honor to him I will help to contunie to grow the island and to
teach the ways of the magistrate militant. Since I am now the Avatar of
Akresius I will take those respoibilites with the respect the need and
derserve.
So I no longer stand alone atop the cliffs I know atleast there is
one cherub flying the crimson winds looking down upon me with a smile if not
more.

Chapter 9

Stading upon this cliff I hear many ghosts floating upon the crimson winds.
In my long years I have seen many come and go, be they young as a green
sapling or old as a gnarled oak. As I grow older I find I wish to pass on my
knowledge to those who follow behind me. Not just my martial knowledge but my
knowledge of Thera and the Island I also do not wish to die with me.

I have come upon many barriers to this as I walk the fabled lands of Thera.
Combat calls at me from deep down in my soul, I find myself as much drawn to
battle now as when I was just venturion out from the academy. This hampers my
time and holds my attention most likely more than it should. But the island
also calls, I have not seen the meter in such a long time I fear he has taken
his own life, but still I must bear that burden I swore to do. So I speak
with the young and answer thier questions truthfully and gauge wether the
island is where they need to be.

When I finally do have time to try and impart my knowledge it is hard to find
one willing and able to listen. To many of the young are so full or burning
desire they don't want to listen, and the old are so set in thier ways they
think that they know it all already.

Am I some prophet sent from the heavens no, do I believe I know it all...no
But I do believe I know some, and would desire to find a few to pass it on to
before I myself join the cherubs on the crimson winds.

Chapter 8

The life of a chalice bearer is more than I had hoped and yet still not what
I expected. Truly from my end I do not think anything has changed, but others
they see the chalice as something from myth and legend. I try and tell them
all it is something to be respected and honored but tis no mythical thing
that none can obtain. If a unbroken cliff jumper can bear it than they have a
chance also. I teach when I can, speak when they will allow it and follow the
ways of a chalice bearer always. I hope by my words and leading by example
others will find the way.

The island is acting the the tides in a storm, one moment we are full and
lush, crashing against the shore shaping the world to our will. The next it
is calm and flat, a lone lighttower against the storm is all that stands. I
hope the young that have entered will contunie to grow and prosper like they
should, and we will help the world stay at balance like it needs.

All in all things are going the way they should I believe, I feel a bit more
spring in my step and the banshee's have retreated a bit so I will not be
joining the cherubs on the crimson winds as soon as I had thought.

Chapter 7

When I look up from the bottom of the cliff amid the rocks and debris I see
the path that I walked to get down here. The old me would have jumped and
hoped for the best, hell would the old me have even stopped to look, probably
not. That life takes it toll though,my bones creak a bit more, and I notice
not as much spring in my step. But my steps are still sure, and firm.

The Island is progressing well by my standards, much young blood has entered.
Hell enough young blood that I feel like a grandfather watching out for my
little neighbors children, but they are truy grown and doing well. They will
make a strong core for when the banshee's finally take me , for my life is
not one to be spent in quiet solitude to die in bed of old age, my life will
end with blood on the ground, and sounds of battle in the crimson wind that
floats above the battlefield.

The seeking of the Chalice progresses as all things do that are to be earned
or learned, slowly but at a steady pace. A winged Cherub spoke with me and
told me to stay my path, that I was walking true and avoiding to many Cliff's
along the way. THe breath of crimson wind that blew around me when they came
to touch my head was enough, I grinned a bit but then returned to what is
true to my life. My skills are progressing with my age as the should, mistake
I learn I attempt to not make twice, and any flip of the coin I try and make
land my way but as in all things we can only contunie on in the pursuit of
what we love and cherish.

Chapter 6

As I stand atop a wind swept cliff, I look out towards the island. Hells I
guess I should be calling it my Island now, since I have become the Rhyme.
How did this happen, as a young and cheerful warrior who found the island by
accident and threw himself off more cliff's than ones he was pushed. Now I am
in charge and I share the burden with my old friend and now meter Tovyn. As I
stand to walk back down the cliff side path I feel old scars pull at my skin,
my muscles ache and my eyes are not near as sharp as they once had been. But
I will contunie on, because the island needs me. There is still plenty of
fight left in these old bones, but now I am going to have to use my head a
bit more than I have before. I will think a bit before I charge in like a
rampagin bull, I will act the title of knight and try to protect and let the
island prosper. So now begins the path of the Rhyme and cliffjumper. I will
try and merge the two into something we can all be proud of.

My plan for the island is to speak with all the applicants and give them
thier fair shot, I will be easy on none, but I will not make thier task
impossible either. With each I will have them write a missive to the island
to describe how they see the balance, and how they think we can help it. I
believe a broader perspecive will help us all Old and New.

Chapter 5

The past, the future and now. That is what occupies my life at this very
moment. I seem stuck in one, and forever searching for the other, and never
living the one I need. I worry to much about what has happened and do not
look foward to what comes. I guess I truly am a cliff jumper.

My plan if I can exucute it, is find a teacher of the Sanguine Challice. I
have heard little of Arkersius's teachings throughout the lands, and
even since I was litle I have looked for them. I guess I must take the trip
to his shrine. Even though I do not feel I should walk in the halls of those
who bear the mark of the Chalice it seems that is the only way I shall be
able to learn.

I have lived my life as I think a bearer should, but who is to say my
thinking is right, I have been wrong many times before. Once I gather the
courage I shall make my trip to the mountains and see if he will grace me
with his presence, Or even send a spiritual tacher my way.

Chapter 4

I have noticed something this day. I treat all my decisons as the same basic
question. Should I jump off the cliff or not. I don't check for water or
shrubs at the bottom of the cliff. And never once have I checked to see if it
is a five foot drop or one thousand. Is there a path, or a differnt way down?
Those two questions have never entered my mind. I see the cliff, I decide to
jump and then I jump. Then I learn what is to happen to me on the way down.

I have come to decide it is time for a change and try to look at things from
more than one angle. It does not have to be black or white. Fight or flee, be
sane or crazy. There needs to be a balance of all these options in my decison
making that so far I have left behind like I did my forest home.

So from here on out I will try and take a step back and look around before I
jump, I will balance that hopefully with my quick decisons of the past and
not think so much that I become a statue. Quick thinking is still good, but I
need to consider more factors into everything, instead of basing it on the
simplest of thingsas I used to, I must plunge down into the deeper layers and
then make my choice.

This will not be a easy path, but the path I have travelled so far is
littered with the wailing screams of my own ghosts and so many times have I
looked down upon my own corpse that it is starting to look a bit to familar.
And that scares me more than I would like to admit.

Chapter 3

I always say a grain of sand can make the differnce in a fight. It also
appears a grain of sand can push you over the edge. Today I let anger take
control of me and push down a dark path. It was not far, and it was not long
but that one grain was enough. I thought of slayng innocents and taking the
fight to people who did not deserve only because I could not see my own error
of my ways. I did none of those things but I was on the edge, a small push
farther and I could have went down a path I am not sure that I could have
come back from. This wil be a lesson in loss and desire to win, you cannot
let either overtake you.

Chapter 2

Marintok's life began like everyone else, he was born into this world from a
mother and father. THey both loved him very much and gave him all that they
could. On the day he decided to leave for the warrior academy they smiled
happily and waved as he walked down the path, with promises to write and
visit on everyones lips it was a happy parting.

Once he bagan his warrior training he felt like something that was missing
was not complete inside him. He loved the feel of weapons in his hands, sweat
and blood on his brow and the heart pounding feel of combat in his veins.

Once he finally left the seclusion of the woods where he was trained he began
to experience life as he never new it before. So many new things, it
bombarded his senses almost to the point of overload. It was a Nexun that
help him take it all in, and after many discusions he decided to join the
island himself. Balance was what he was looking for even if he never knew it
himself.

After many moons of traveling and exploring he finally found himself at the
pinacle of his guild. It felt like he had reached the end of a road but
didn't know why he was even travelling it. But his purpose remained clear, he
would contunie to explore the ways of combat and balance. To see if he could
bring it all together into something unexpected for himself and his life.

A wood elf that left the training halls to explore the world, hone his
fighting skills, and persevere the balance by action.
