There are more PK considerations (including but not limited to skills/spells/communes) to eating/drinking than just that. I can see how it's lame to have to "care" for your character the same way my kids have to "care" for tapfish or the like (side note: kids suck at caring for their tapfish) ... but at this point in CF, there are a crapload of PK tactics around food/drink so that removing it from the game will have an negative impact on your desire to "make the game more about fights" IMO. Something for you to consider, at least.
