#88271, "About raiding"

>As Frorania, I don't deny that I've said something about you
>being cowardly and wimpy, which is because 90% of the time
>you're always with someone.

Which is quite innaccurate.

>1) You hardly solo raid, as a duergar ap empire, wouldn't it
>be the case that you take all the items that belongs to
>emperor rp wise?

About raiding
I actually had a deep reasoning in how I approached raiding. I didn't address it in my farewells, so I will try to explain myself here. I understand that many would disagree, but I did put some time into thinking about it and I hope that people would put some time into thinking about it too before jumping to conclusions or blaming me.

RP wise it would be nice to raid as much as possible. But gameplaying wise it would be bad.
I know that I didn't raid as much as I could and I guess Twist noticed that too .
But my reasoning was completely different from what many would think.
From the gameplaying point of view raiding is designed to make conflicts in CF and give people more opportunities to fight each other. Thus, I tried to balance between RP requirements (raid as much as possible) and gameplaying for everybody (myself including).

Below I'm going to put several reasons of me avoiding to raid. Keep in mind that those are just general guidelines and in each specific circumstances I could act differently (there are too many factors to talk about them all).
- Various obvious reasons. Like not being able to raid solo without long resting or not being able to raid because of strong opposition.
Being out of wands or having less than ~50 charges. These numbers may very depending on eq and cabals. For example, Spirit requires more efforts as he is resistant to many weapons or Destructor may go crazy.
- I usually avoided raiding when there were no opposition. RP wise it would be a cool opportunity to take items freely, but gameplaying wise it often results people of opposite cabal to logout or not login when otherwise they could. Ultimately, it works against the major idea of cabal system: to promote fighting.
I guess imperial imms were thinking about me being lazy and I can't really oppose this IC/RP wise. Still, I usually let it slide if I felt I could get away with it. Plus, afterall, it is boring and waste of wand charges.
- no defenders against low level retrievers. Because of me being scary, my enemies tend not to defend at all (nor come to retrieve) if there were lowbies who could do that instead. As a player, I understand them and I tried not to abuse this "hit the outer and call them to fight" tactic that much.
- I tried not to stomp a guy who already had rough time and perhaps died severals times in raiding/retrievals prior to that.

>2) There was ONCE that I SAW that you solo raid against Fort,
>when I arrived back to Fort you have finished watcher, I
>attacked you, but you ran out? As a duergar ap empire,
>wouldn't it be your duty to finish the defenders of your enemy
>cabals?

I think I remember that, so here is the log.
The real reason of me leaving:
You were no match for me and I respected you for your pre-maran behavior. I could easily stay and destroy you, but I didn't feel that I want to punish you for coming to defend against a badass AP solo. And I also think you were worth 0 charges at that point, so I didn't even had *that* excuse too.

>3) You don't really avoid Frorania, you came, only with
>numbers, with Glurgick, with Ahtieli etc etc.

I hope you understand that with the number of charges I had, you didn't have any chance. Not sure what makes you think I were afraid to fight you solo.
If I came with numbers, it wasn't to kill you, it was raiding for the item. I couldn't say IC to Glurgick: "Sorry, cow, I don't want to raid Fortress". If he asks to help with raiding I had no choice but agree.

>4) If Frorania is conservative, she wouldn't have con died.

I think Frorania was very brave pre-maran and I respected her.
But it changed once you got maraned. Of course, I'm talking here only about things I could see from my eyes. You became much more conservative and developed mouthing.

>If she is conservative, she wouldn't run in and retrieve solo
>against Glurgick and you, ended up being successful in doing
>so.

As I said, I let it slide sometimes. Not hurrying back to defend, etc. I wasn't really interested in multikilling you.

// Raid vs Frorania.
// My barrier dropped at the end of raiding but I didn't bother
// to put it up again as the Watcher was nearly dead.
// If I were wanted to kill you, I would zap it right away.
// Very likely I could outdamage you even without it by simply spamming lashes.
// It was *unforced* decision to leave because I already had the Orb.
