Chapter 4

The journey goes on for Foedett, and he has had many successes by his
interpretation. The tree has grown and now rather than surviving, as he
thought it seemed to when he was first brought in among the refugees, it now
flourishes. New pledges come to learn the teaching of thar-eris in droves,
sometimes so that he must glean the ambitions, motives and minds of two or
more at once!

But the search for his sister, combined with the overwhelming drive to rally
the men and women who seek to aid the tree and Primeval Spirit in efforts to
cure the wounded land near the tree. The issuance of this desire provided a
large number of responses from every branch of the tree, and he feels that an
effort could be made soon for a ritual to attempt the cleansing. This will be
the next step, with the help of the ancients of course.

But as it is, though he does not share it with others, he has turned inward
with his pain to a degree. The stress of his unclear past and lineage, and
the lack of answers found thus far as to the whereabouts of his sister kin
have brought him pain in the nights he sleeps on the high branches alone. He
does not wish to burden others with the magnitude of his pain, but such is
the condition of mortals. Each time he knows it may be in error, but so far
he feels as if he must keep it to himself. As a result, though he is
physically and spiritually flourishing, his psyche has become a bit stretched
thin of late.

And so, he has begun to pray for the answers, in hopes that what he has not
been able to find in the realm of mortals, he can perhaps find in the
previously uncharted realm of the divine. Though not the religious sort, nor
strong of faith, he is as desperate as he is true of spirit. Some manner of
comfort has come from this, but surely for the wounds of the land to be
healed, he will need to come to terms with his own pains first. This is the
only true revelation he has been able to come to in relation to his pain of
late, but he thinks that it is a critical and important first step to take,
and so his spirits are somewhat lifted by it.
