Chapter 1

Born to a family of outcast svirfnebli, due to the families mutated traits of
a strange and beast like nature, Foedett spent his infancy near the underdark
sea, deep beneath the surface of Thera. Divers from the pirate ship
'Faegurgilt' snatched his sister, the one with paws of a beast, and him, the
one with legs and feet of a beast, to sell to the traveling freak shows. His
sister fetched a more handsome price, but they ended up keeping him and
naming him Foedett, a pirate slang and insult which loosely translates to
'Driftwood from the wood of the head', or the ship's outhouse. These men, you
can imagine, were not pleasant to the svirfnebli. As he grew, he became some
manner of house pet, combined with a punching bag. Foedett was ever trying to
be pleasant, though at the time it was likely little more than a survival
mechanism.

He was also a born tinkerer, fiddling with brooms and mops and other things
he was tasked with using to make them more useable for himself, what with his
strangely bent hindquarters, so that he could hop about the deck and soap and
mop all at once. After showing such inventiveness, in an attempt perhaps to
join the crew not as a servant, he even figured a device that would
automatically sweep any 'misses', we'll say, into the toilet hole. The
captain met this of course with little more than a chuckle and a dismissive
swat upside the head and orders to clean said toilet harder. And so, Foedett
made his finest contraption yet: a one way chute for the head that lead into
the ocean.

Our hero makes a fine swimmer, and is, in short, well adjusted. Bad smells,
unsavory characters, and all manner of bad luck seem to roll of him like
water off a duck's back. He chose to study thievery, to lens out said
unsavory characters, and to work on his tinkering with traps. And as a
tribute to his freedom, and to help others find it, he will seek out the
Outlanders of Thar-Eris.
