Chapter 4

After leaving Baromyr, I thought I may never see home again. Yet after
many years, I began to refer to Voralian City as my new home. But now I
finally know, my true place is within the Fortress of Light.
Unfortunately it is not a home entirely without flaws.

I have been welcomed by the Captain Morin, a fellow Paladin and Priest of
the Spearmaiden. He is no Elf, but I suppose no one can be truly perfect.
It is welcome leadership nevertheless, given my encounters with some of
his Squires.

Some of these Squires are confused. Others seem to be outright lost.
There is a Paladin, a flawed man and a former Priest of the Jaguar, who
suggests the Paladin Code is something less than absolute. Nonsense, of
course. There are others who let their rage guide them, or worse, their
compassion for our enemies. I counsel, I lecture and a do my utmost to
teach.. but thus far, it seems many have their ears closed. I must find a
way to convince them to open their minds to the wisdom of the
Spearmaiden.

Their trust may be earned in time, perhaps. I am still amongst the newest
Squires to the Fortress. Many have only just learned my name and my face.
As they begin to trust me in battle, they may too begin to trust the
Jaguar's wisdom when spoken from my own lips.

Yes, after a long wait I have been welcomed into the ranks of the Maran,
as their Squire. But that is not the end of my journey. This is only the
beginning. I begin to see my duty here. Now I must find the method to
accomplish it.
