Chapter 4

Day after day, it is the same boring event. My father seems so fond
of his accomplishment, most notably, that one of such attraction as
I came from his useless seed, that he presents me even to those he
beds. It is a bore, a waste of time, when I could be partaking is
far more interesting tasks. The daily life of the court, the glamour
that so many peasants and citizens of Udgaard envy, does have it's
merits I must admit. The laws and rules barely apply to me, as I
am well known in my father's city, and even the most suspicious
of my actions are passed over. Freedom from oppression, at least
as far as my father permits, seems to be my daily routine.

I suppose this discretion gives me the freedom to do as I please
at night. Those nightly routine, with the Leader of the Covenant,
are not without risk. Several times I have found maids and janitors
nearly discover the hidden chamber deep within the cellar. How
unlucky of them. I have far advanced my studies in the shape of
animals - there blood will be sacrificed for the cause of the
Nightborne Queen. Certainly one or two servants will not be missed.
In return, we drink in Tribute to the Nightborne Queen, and the
Leader enlightens us. His powers are unique and vast, almost as if
he is part of the Court of Dark Jewels that he so reverently
describes. At certain times, it seems he is peering deep within
our minds and souls, his gaze filled with such intensity, judging
our worth...And then, there is the aspect of the chalice. It brings
us so much closer to her, my Lover, my Dreamer, the one I devote
my entire existance to. I hear her speaking to me, caressing
my soul, steadily drinking and draining me, always lovingly, always
with such pure tenderness - it terrifies me before I drink the
chalice, knowing that I will be swept away in her mere presence.
And yet, I cannot resist the temptation, the unbelievable and
knowing terror that I will subject myself to. Every journey I
embark on to Her lair, I learn something more, and I am brought
closer to the Marquessa of the Alseigodath.

To stand in her physical presence...I fear I will be swept away.
