Chapter 2

I remember a time when nightmares plagued my sleep. Nightmares
I could not escape, no matter how I pleaded and begged, for my
body was exhausted from the torment my father inflicted on me.
Everclinging, shadows would chase me, torturing me, laughing
at my worthlessness. The deadly whip my father uses, dripping
of blood and skin as it entangled my body. The cruel words
of my peers, laughing and goading at me because of my difference.
And yet, eventually I learned to embrace these nightmares,
to control them for what I sought. The goading and laughter
turned to dull buzzes in my ear as I commanded Shadows to
cover my ears. The pain of the whip turned into pleasure as
the blood dripping from it oozed back to me, instilling me
with an unfathomable sense of worth. And amidst all these
nightmares, I sensed a being looking after me, slowly gaging
my worth as it's crimson eyes directed my nightmares to chase
me, only to be drawn into my traps. The shadows of my past
became mine to control, and I molded them, turning them
in beasts and demons covered with fangs and claws.

Funny how those within my nightmares come to my beckoning.
As I dwell more within the Chasm of the Eternal Night, I recall
more of my dreams, more of those Shadowy beasts that come to
my beckoning. Tricksome and fearsome, they seem to resonate
with my nightmares, and their claws and fangs draw the sweet
nourishments that I have so become addicted to. As I have
complete domain over my nightmares, so to will I seek to have
complete domain over my nightmares that have come to life.
