Perhaps this is another lame idea to put out there, but here goes:
We have warrior classes, mage classes, forest classes, lone classes, and everything in between. With the exception of the healer, though successful ones are far and few between, and the bard class, a great class that has lots of diversity, there really aren't group-friendly classes. (Perhaps this is a gross exaggeration, but I digress) I propose an apothecary/herbalist class. Unlike the druid class, the herbalist is more suited to the towns, because he needs tools and measuring instruments to get the mixtures right. The concoctions he can mix would range from narcotic-like substances that could dull pain (sort of really weak sanctuary, but with some bad side effects), to salves to staunch the flow of blood long enough to get some healing help, to hallucinogens that, when inhaled, make you enemy see creatures that aren't there, causing fear and making the party harder to hit. Granted, there would be a lot of hard work as far as coding a new class. I'm sure the workload is already quite crazy. However, imagine the creative leeway! Skills completely unique from what other classes can do, and a great new avenue of roleplaying. I can see a flood of herbalistic Therans roaming the countryside, causing havoc with their mad concoctions.
Alright, half an idea, but just thought it would be neat. I'll go back to wishful thinking now.
