You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#634, "Corpseguard realism?"

I'm glad the corpseguard was implemented, but I had another thought... not sure how much more coding would be required though.

Basically, if you have guy A (A warrior) standing over the corpse guarding it after the kill and guy B & C walk up to grab stuff.

Guy C goes to take something but fails he would get this:

As you reach for a charred leather bracer guy A swats your wrist away with the dull side of his blade.
Guy A's blade swat MUTILATES you.

As he stops, but guy B goes on trying to spam grab things. The first one does MULILATE but as he keeps trying it progressively gets worse.

Of course, maybe this would be another option that could be toggled, should some characters never wish to react this way. Thoughts?

( A further elaboration assuming the system would be of interest would be more detail, if the warrior was using his mace, or axe, or whip... or if a mage would retaliate by doing damage via a spell cantrip... all for added flavor)

You won't ever see corpseguard doing damage to people out of range. If they are in range, you have the ability to type murder.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
