You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#255, "SHapeshifter and Race"

Would it make sense to you to incorporate Character race into Shapeshifter Stat carry-overs?

For example: Majority of shifters are gnomes/human.

Humans gain a decent level advantage, 20 con which helps for hps.

Gnomes have the wisdom which translates to more HP trains. Modest con.

My idea would reward some of the more dextrous chars, that receive less hp's due to their lower con. Elves, dark-elves, would recieve some kind of bonus to their dex in form, or if maladicted their inate dextrous instincts..whatever..would kick in a bit.

THis might create some variance in shifter choices. Elves, felar, dark-elves would have a bit more nimble forms. Gnomes, humans, half-elfs would have a bit more hps. Felar would also fall into the second category but since they have lower int and limited focii choices, hydrophobia, this should even things out so we dont see 90% felars.

Might be something here you can work with.

Hope is the worst of evils, for it prolongs the torment of man.

No, but eventual shifter edges will almost certainly create some interesting possibilities or unique angles for shifters of 'unfavored' races.

At least, that was one of the things on my mental list when we were first banging out the concept of edges.
