#70, "Is an evil Justiciar feasible?"
|
I have read all the Justiciar material I can find, and I can't really see any reason why an evil character couldn't be a Justiciar. As I understand it, the Justiciars focus on investigations and implementing what they see as fit, following the results of that investigation.
I'm not sure this necessarily requires one to have the best interests of citizens as a motivation. There could be other motivations for doing this job properly.
So I have to ask, can an evil character be a Justiciar, potentially?

The positions of Justiciar, Vindicator and Provost are completely alignment-independent. That was not always the case. When Bria was running the Spire, Justiciars were good, Vindicators were evil, and there was very little to distinguish them beyond that. Most of the times when people think along the lines that you are, it's a throwback to that.
When we redid the Spire recently we seperated all three positions from each other, gave them clearly defined duties and appropriate powers to do those duties.
So in short, any alignment can fill any of the positions in the Spire. The helpfiles for PROVINCIAL, PROVOST, JUSTICIAR, and VINDICATOR will give you more information.
