New to empowerment (Guest) (Guest)Sat 21-Apr-01 04:20 AM

#29, "Religion/empowerment"

Ok heres the juice. I have never played an empowerment char before. Been playing for just over a year now. had 2 or three heros.
Now I have searched about and read up on empowerment wherever I can find it but am still somewhat shady as to some things.
I will just list the steps of what I believe I have to do.
1* Have you character and role (preferably)
2* Go visit Shrine of desired diety.
3* Pray there for a bit. (not sure how long)
Now should you bother praying any other time? Away from the shrine I mean?
4* God responds. Starts talking yadda yadda. Questions about religion likely to be in here. And why you relate if not obvious.
Now about religions. Lets use Shokai's as an example. Where can all the info about your religion be found. Is there more to be found apart from the help files? And if so where? Is is something i need to ask about in game. Or can it be easily found in game? Lycuem etc.
5* All goes well and wham bam. Empowered.
6* Ok now empowered - should you be visiting the shrine still and praying? If so how often and how often should you be praying outside of shrine. Or are emotes better used rather than annoying the imms.
7* And basically role play role play. And sweet.

Thanks for any responses.

What Jacynth said was all good and I have been empowered by her, she was awesome. Ill add a few other things that I think might alleviate any impending headaches since you shouldnt get bitter about empowerment your first time at the plate.

1. Pick a god who you see online often (you share playing times)

2. Pick a sphere and put your own interesting twist on it. You dont have to be a hard core devvotee of that imm's religion. You need to live the sphere. religion=tattoo sphere=empower

4. Send a note IC letting them know your intentions and why you seek empowerment. This will let them know to keep an eye on you. If the note is paticularly nice they will go out of their way to look for you. This is a good thing.

5. If you see the imm vis and you think "this might be a good time to log on the char seeking her empowerment" (I dont condone this but it happens). And as soon as you log the priest on, assuming the god knows your looking for them, and the god goes wizinvis....take this as a good thing. They arent leaving to avoid you, they are going wizi to watch you. Go to their shrine at this point, or a place that represents your sphere.

These helped me to get empowered pretty quickly. I think #1 is first and foremost as far as importance.
ie dont pick a dead imm to get empowerd by unless you want a HUGE challenge.

POSTER'S DISCLAIMER: "Of course....I don't play anymore, but its just my 2 cents."

Of course, I'm not Shokai, but I'm learning this empowerment thing as I go and here's my take and a few answers to your questions.

>1* Have you character and role
> preferably)

That's a good start. I'd add to roleplay your role consistently.

>2* Go visit Shrine of desired
>diety.

Yes, that is a good idea too.

>3* Pray there for a bit.
> not sure how long)

Well, one thing that really bugs me is people who pray and then log off 2 minutes later or leave as soon as they pray. If you pray, expect to be answered. No one can answer you if you log off and Imms can be busy so you need to give them a minute to finish up on whatever they're working on. I'd say 5-10 minutes should be sufficient and if they haven't rained down hell/fire/brimstone yet, they're probably not going to at that moment, but they may be watching you.

> Now should you
>bother praying any other time?

That all depends on you and your religion and your God/Godess. I think there are lots of good times and places to pray. If it seems appropriate and fits your role, do it.

>Where can all the info
>about your religion be found.
>Is there more to be
>found apart from the help
>files? And if so where?
>Is is something i need

Yes, libraries are a good place to look for other information about religions and the Gods and Goddesses. Also, other followers can be an excellent source. Use them well and you can come in really prepared.

>6* Ok now empowered - should
>you be visiting the shrine
>still and praying? If so
>how often and how often
>should you be praying outside
>of shrine. Or are emotes
>better used rather than annoying

Well, that again all depends on your character and role play. Personally, I love it when empowerees continue to worship. I really do not like the notion of empowering and then never hearing from and seeing the empoweree again. You will have to use your discretion though. Some Gods/Goddesses might expect independence and others might want more shows of devotion, especially if you're looking to be tattoo'd anytime down the road.

I hope this helps some...just one perspective mind you.
