Of course, I'm not Shokai, but I'm learning this empowerment thing as I go and here's my take and a few answers to your questions.
>1* Have you character and role > preferably)
That's a good start. I'd add to roleplay your role consistently.
>2* Go visit Shrine of desired >diety.
Yes, that is a good idea too.
>3* Pray there for a bit. > not sure how long)
Well, one thing that really bugs me is people who pray and then log off 2 minutes later or leave as soon as they pray. If you pray, expect to be answered. No one can answer you if you log off and Imms can be busy so you need to give them a minute to finish up on whatever they're working on. I'd say 5-10 minutes should be sufficient and if they haven't rained down hell/fire/brimstone yet, they're probably not going to at that moment, but they may be watching you.
> Now should you >bother praying any other time?
That all depends on you and your religion and your God/Godess. I think there are lots of good times and places to pray. If it seems appropriate and fits your role, do it.
>Where can all the info >about your religion be found. >Is there more to be >found apart from the help >files? And if so where? >Is is something i need >to ask about in game. >Or can it be easily >found in game? Lycuem etc.
Yes, libraries are a good place to look for other information about religions and the Gods and Goddesses. Also, other followers can be an excellent source. Use them well and you can come in really prepared.
>6* Ok now empowered - should >you be visiting the shrine >still and praying? If so >how often and how often >should you be praying outside >of shrine. Or are emotes >better used rather than annoying >the imms.
Well, that again all depends on your character and role play. Personally, I love it when empowerees continue to worship. I really do not like the notion of empowering and then never hearing from and seeing the empoweree again. You will have to use your discretion though. Some Gods/Goddesses might expect independence and others might want more shows of devotion, especially if you're looking to be tattoo'd anytime down the road.
I hope this helps some...just one perspective mind you.
