I really like Shokais role, but I doubt I would make Maran. I failed twice. (Shut up all you marans!) I would like to try your empowerment. Is it possible to have your tattoo without being a maran, like a dawnie or something?

Not to preempt Shokai here, but this is taken from the helpfile on his religion:

"those who wear the mark of the silver phoenix
are known as the Maran."

So no, I would say you cannot have Shokai's tattoo and not be a Maran.

Though empowerment, that might be another story.
