#9850, "Just an idea re orcs"
|
Why not let orcs keep their ranking bonus all the way to 45?
Would mean that more orcs are running around at any point in time, and those that want a light-hearted char can play one.
There'd still be the extra push if you wanted to get to chief though. Or maybe even keep the ranking bonus and rely on inter-orc challenges to make chieftainship harder.

Well, you'd probably have a higher occurance of people with orcs that they don't really give a #### about...however, since they would be roving in hordes, massacring people who have to rank the hard way, and care more about their characters, I don't think it would be a pretty picture.
Also, you'd probably get a lot more of the "my roleplay begins at hero" kinds of characters, which sucks.

If I'm not mistaken, they keep it all the way up. It's just more visible at lower levels.

Allow the Orc chieftan to join a cabal (if one will take him etc.) and the entire clan becomes a part of that cabal.... sharing some of the protection/benefit (if items are downed by the cabal the chief belongs to they get the clan benefit, whereas only the chief gets cabal powers) that being in a cabal gives. This would give the chief a very specific goal, and give people a reason to try and get a particular orc in power. For instance, if there are two middling orcs the empire might take interest in one, while scions attempt to subvert the other...
With this, you'd have to allow the current chieftan to kick out members of the clan, making them hunted by the clan or whatever to enforce the clan is extension of cabal X.

The point is that in every fantasy world I've ever seen, orc end up being mercenaries, and it happens in CF too.... this would just give them a tangible benefit.

I think this is a great idea. Definately adds depth of roleplaying to Empire and Scion. And also gives them a good reason to fight.. who controls the orcs?
Never having dealt with outlander, what is their take on orcs? Perhaps they could be involved as well.
...Rome...

That orcs are slavers and defilers that are to be destroyed. Outlander is one of the two enemy cabals orcs have.

Because when I played a trib, Rogue's druid outlander gave the item to Tremblefist so that I couldn't retrieve it.

if grouped with other orcs.
Just two orcs together can get over 1k exp per mob very easily as lowbies. Last orc I played managed 1500 in Arendyl (with one orc groupmate and one non-orc groupmate).

Some bonus for a 2-orc group, big bonus for a 3 orc group.
Sort of like you get some XP bonus for a normal group of 2 but a group of 3 is where the money is.
