Would it be possible to make the minotaurs either not assist or naturally spread out a bit? This might be a broken repop. Right now they seem to always pile up into groups of 8. Aside from this they look like ranking mobs. The natural maze and disease of the area do a bit to keep people away as it is.

They were intended to be ranking mobs. I'll see about getting the area file and taking out the assists.

For how hard they were. I think I was playing a swamp ranger at the time (it has been a few years) and pretty much anything else I could kill with comparable effort was worth more exp and didn't involve wandering around an area that becomes impossible to navigate at night.

I as a ranger took a bard there. By the time we slept and killed two out of a group of 5+, they'd all wake up and kill us. They were too much even at 'few lucky blows', hit too hard too often.

I've leveled there with a couple chars. It's not great, but I kind of equate it to places like Crystal Island and other "really remote" places. It's not great exp but it's a place that you can take a group if you've got that one guy in range that checks all of the "normal" spots and is a beast that your group of 3 won't win against.

I've actually been thinking about removing the prog that does the randomization. It's never been the intent of the area to completely randomize every exit every sundown. Actually that was the intent, but then it's supposed to revert back to actual layout every morning. The second part of that seems to have never worked right. I'll ask for the area file, look at it, and see if I can't find a way to dress up those mobs a little better for leveling.

I wrote it in 2001, I can't remember what I compared the mobs to when I wrote them. I remember the intent was wilderness ranking alternatives. Believe me when I tell you all ... there's a reason I've only authored one area.

Granted, I've never bothered to see if the exits change all that much, but east gets me out of there and westish gets me to the hidden part I like to go to.

So, you sure the second part isn't working?

It's just the same old song.

That movie is horrible, but in a weirdly hysterical way. And Demi Moore looks fabulous in it, so....

I mean, if we are picking Tupac movies, that is definitely at the end of the list. Even Gridlocked is better than that.

My impression was that it randomized every exit at sundown, and then continued to do so basically every tick (or less) from then forward, but I haven't been to the area in a very long time, so that could be a mistake.

Actually that

That part always worked for me IIRC.

With disease + random nights + wilderness navigation + low exp that area was always a fail for me for wilderness ranking, even when I was playing a solo-ranger that could rank there in relative safety, I could find better places that were just as safe. Even if it is way out of the way in general, it is really close to Seantryn so people seemed to poke there heads in more often than say headhunters or Aran'gird.

That is true for half the damn mud. I know you know it. Anyone who hasn't rolled up a good solo char and just gone through the area list by levels checking every nook is missing out.

It's so tedious, but man, it can be worth it. I just recently discovered a new room in an age old area that I never knew existed. After all the years the little knowledge adds up

Tedious, but still likely my favorite part of the game. I look forward to waiting a few more months for area rewrites to finish and race-only gear to go in. Then off to re-asploring!
