#44654, "Orc powers buggy?"
|
The guy can spam spinebreaker in consecutive rounds and get a ranged lag attack with rush and do another move before the I even get a command in.
He rushes me, then spinebreaks, misses, unlags himself with orc power and spinebreaks the round after and I am still in his rush lag?
wtf

Masochism doesn't clear your lag all that often, but yeah, when it does it's supposed to work exactly like that.

Well, keep in mind that when it does happen it probably can turn a close fight into a kill. Also keep in mind that for it to happen requires the orc to be berserking (not a huge hurdle to clear, but one that does have its dangers and drawbacks) and for you to hit them pretty hard.
It's a good ability -- it's easily among the best arguments for shig-ru over one of the other three adaptations -- but is it better to have in your toolkit than, say, hack or soot ritual or dirty fighting? I'm not sure that it is.

Just trying to get some idea on when this skill will kick in. Saw this on Dios. And pretty sure Krunk was rocking some damage redux. I saws him taking MANGLES in the earlier log. But does the skill trigger off pre-dam redux damage? Or does it kick in once you get hit by EVIS(maybe lower) or higher damage?

I found this working on as low as mutilates, and it fired on 3 out of 4 mutilates that I landed in a fight. I didn't have a lot of logs to compare this to other than unofficals but it sounds fairly high and during my fight, I only landed these 4 attacks that were hard enough to get it to fire. Not always the same echo of clearing lag, sometimes it was the lag against me, sometimes it's riposte-like and so on. His and others logs on Dios show a similar trend. I do have the log but do not wish to post on any forum of actives.
I think this is a great ability and, hugely, a life saving one for the orc but would like to request it be looked at a little. Maybe a slightly higher starting point for it to fire would be nice and still very useful.

There's a specific number of damage that is the minimum threshold, which does not necessarily correlate to a specific damage verb. I am aware of what this number is and am okay with it.
For, what, ten years no one thought this skill was overpowered? God forbid there's finally a tough orc.

I didn't want to sound like just another person complaining but I guess that was the case anyway. FWIW I didn't know it had been around that long and was just thinking it was very similar to Snapback from one of the shifters I played except it seems to fire much more often because of the lower damage threshold. I'll keep quiet now.

But I do (obviously). If you do, you might want to review that last fight between Krunk and Golmuf again now that you've had a chance to gain some perspective. I just reviewed it myself, and nothing like this: "He rushes me, then spinebreaks, misses, unlags himself with orc power and spinebreaks the round after and I am still in his rush lag" happened.
The closest thing I could find was, Golmuf attmepts to impale, fails, round of combat, Krunk attempts to spinebreak, fails, round of combat where masochism fires, Krunk successfully spinebreaks. This is also the only time that thing happened in the whole fight, just as an FYI.

Keep in mind, 95% of orcs are the easiest things in CF to kick their ass. Maybe one in 2 dozen orcs steps it up and makes a name for himself.
Sure, every now and then you get an EXTREMELY skilled PKer that can make an orc shine. Yeah, Krunk is doing it now. But keep in mind, they had to give him a WHOLE OTHER ADAPTION and now he is kicking ass. Is anyone generally scared of orcs? Really? They are FAR from overpowered, they just match up well in some fights, and they are fodder in others.
If anything, I am all for the small boosts Daev has been adding in to orcs over the years. I think orcs need MORE love, not nerfing. Bring on the orc shamans baby!

Krunk is played by a badass player. No kidding. He knows when to prep, how much to prep so he doesn't scare you off into not fighting, and he knows his skillset pretty damned well. Like he said, most of the playerbase doesn't. Don't really think its overpowered. You just got to know how to fight this guy.

It's just people played them warriors and that really isn't the way to play them.
I will agree that for instance a Retribution/Temperance paladin is going to own each and every orc in the face. But to say they are underpowered? Not even close.

Your problem is outlined in your own post: "I have no clue of orc powers"
Thankfully, for Krunk, neither does 90% or more of the playerbase.
If you don't know what your enemy is capable of, well... the Clan always needs new whelps.

Sure he got hooked up, but he sure as hell got punked by his fair share of people(There are his deaths on dios). Its not impossible to take him down. I'm not saying you're bad at PK, just suggesting that you should try stick it out and see what works and what doesn't. The best way to learn to win is to try a few times and see what works against this dude and what doesn't. Sure, him being hooked up by the imms helps in killing you, but I'm pretty sure he'll do fine without it, in the case you described. The skill he got isn't the one that removed the lag, its his class skill.

while he has gotten some nifty stuff 95% of the time it doesn't change the outcome of a fight where you die to him. Some of it gives him a bit more survivability but if you want to mess with him roll up pretty much anything with bash protection and watch how much less scary he is (note he will still be scary but you aren't likely to get perma lagged... often)
Shifters, Muters, Shaman, invokers, paladins all can make a hero level orc look like a stain on the road.
Warriors/thieves/assassins/rangers... better be able to win with only 1,2 commands per fight.

Seriously, going by the log I saw you'd have been killed by him even if he had no rewards at all.
I hate this retarded player mentality where they assume imms have been automatically hooking up all their enemies. Even when its true, it usually has very little to do with the absolute success of the character.

That isn't happening. Why would I share logs with people OOC when I am posting so many to the Log Board already? That makes no sense. The only reason your logs haven't been posted is they are more work than most (they last longer and require editting) and there has been a large influx of logs already.

Neither of you have said anything all that bad yet, but I'd personally rather not see you arguing about this on the forums in character. Both good characters, just leave it in the game. Nothing you say as your character in this thread is going to improve the game for you, so it's best left alone.
