#43570, "Growing more confident in Shifter Form"
|
I have two questions now that I am trying to come back after three years off. Great to see the Fields still going strong btw and have been reading up on a lot of the changes. I looking forward to playing again.
One: Is how quickly you grow more confident in a form as a shifter aided at all by the new bonus to learning that has been put in? The one dependent on how many players are logged in.
Two: How come growing more confident does not give you exp like improving a skill or spell would? It would seem that it would be the same thing as improving in second attack, etc.

Probably not at all, and since it isn't that hard, and takes like 20 minutes of being in form while ranking... who cares?

It isn't a skill, or is a hidden skill they don't want people tracking so they never bothered. You are looking at something like a max of 1k exp per form. Not likely to be worth the effort.

It almost seemed like it was reversed in my experience. I seemed to grow more confident quicker when there was no learning bonus, which prompted the question.

I remember a loong time ago it was changed so that confident basically meant 100%. People use to notice, even after they became confident, they would still improve in the form. That, to me, means it is a skill. Yes, it is a small amount of exp, but I would be curious why it would be treated any differently from other ones.

Mechanically, it's not a skill.
I'm talking guts of the mud code here.

Really? interesting. my former programmer self is curious as to what the difference is in the code, but I am still recovering and do not really think I should find out... I'll stick with my routers and switches.

Not even a smart @$$ answer? I checked the older posts and could not find the answer. It is not like I am asking anything super secret. I even started out with a nice compliment to try and garner some good will for an answer... and I got nothing...
That hurts a bit.

Sorry, just thought they were legit questions and no one could even both answering. Kind of annoying. But thanks for the smart @$$ response! Now if I can get Nep to give the real answer my day will be complete!
Edited to add:
And my day has been long already, if you could not tell from my post, but thanks for asking!
