#41782, "No graveyards in underdark?"
|
I think I've searched whole UD and didn't find it (could be mistaken, but I think it's not there).
Could you make at least one? There are a lot of bones and zero graveyards. Graveyard location would make a sense.
/descends to the Underdark to gather bones and place them all together.

I'd take it, if it would be an option, but I think it's only for dark-elves (and probably half-drow). I think at least one room could be a graveyard (it could be somewhere far from the usual tracks), and could have a special greater undead too.

There is 4 rooms filled with bones in UD, and none of those rooms is a graveyard. Just thought it would make a sense if at least one of those rooms would be a graveyard, thats all.

Isn't possible to have that location as your "special undead" and not be able to get the edge is it? Seems like something you guys probably thought of, but thought I'd throw it out there.

SUBTERRANEAN GRAVEROBBER (1686)
Necromancers with subterranean origins know that the stench of death lingers throughout the underside. These mages are able to treat areas of the underworld as if they were graveyards, dredging up the long-forgotton bodies and energies of the dead.

Sounds like it turns most of the UD into a graveyard... So, I think that rules out it being a location for any "special undead".

It's not something you need to worry about.
On top of everything else, consider that there's multiple locations to get most of the special greater undead.

If you don't think that's a huge combination for a drow necro we definitely are playing a different game.

You wouldn't be able to summon people who are already in the underdark to you. They are in cursed, no-summon rooms. You could summon npc's from outside the underdark who are normally summonable, though. So...you could basically have a nice hidey-hole to make some zombies, or stand your ground with corpse thrall. There is probably a cool greater undead down there too.

How many times have you fought a necromancer in the underdark? I believe in 7+ years, I never have. In fact, I just searched for the terms underdark + zombie on QHCF, and the most recent log is 6 years ago. Why? Because who the #### wants to fight someone who can sleep and blind and has an army in a cursed area with aggro mobs, whether he can summon or not? And also, it's just not a highly trafficked area, so you'd have to bait people. "Oh look, Joe the necromancer is trying to bait us ragers into the Underdark for the third time this login. Let's go stand north of the crevasse and spam cranial for when he gets bored and leaves." You think necromancers with an army have a hard time getting people to fight in an area with a locked room? Try getting them down there.
You might say, well then you'd have a safe area - but there are tons of relatively safe graveyards in the game if you just look. And just about any area with doors can be dangerous against a necromancer, look at the gangs of people who tried to take down Tavlin in HLK. Not to mention that edges aren't free and necromancers have one of the most diverse lists, so shooting off edge points on some niche thing that you may never get any use of isn't the best choice.

However, maybe we value "safe place to raise army without getting molested" differently.
Also look at the last Tavlin log vs. Nukahv and others where he actually dies in the Underdark if you are looking for a necro in the Underdark log.

Nukahv and Cotzibue went at it for like, 45 RL minutes in the underdark. I can look for the log, but I doubt I have it. Of course, it's a little different being a caverndweller rager and challenging a mummy there, and being a normal anything else.

Basically no one is going to be dumb enough to fight you down there unless they don't have to worry about being summoned to a graveyard.
Apart from the one unfortunate guy who does in your 300 hours of playing the character.
Seems like a sub-optimal use of edge points to me.

Have you considered that for some characters, it might be advantageous to have extra places where no one is dumb enough to fight them?
It's not what every necromancer wants or needs, true.

Something that's at least in part on purpose, to me.
Like - maybe they don't want you hiding down there making zombies for a number of pretty good reasons. I'm sure you can think of them since you made this post. Splntrd
