Depends a bit on the weapons and whether vulns/resistances apply.
If we assuming something 'neutral' in that no one has either, such as acid weapons, I'm thinking probably the arial sword. Riposte is a decent chunk of why.

I think felar spear is pretty great, but I think in straight up melee it's going to suffer vs. the arial sword because of riposte (despite being a great tank and having more hp). Vs. the giants, it has the issue that its dual wield attacks can't beat weapon resist, though I don't know that it'll definitely lose.
The pure melee stipulation does skew things. If the felar spear can drop the arial's stats at all or get one sword out of his hands, the fight swings dramatically.

Probably they're comparable. Depending on the situation, I might call spin better.
You can't tank riposte, though, and if we're assuming pure melee, I'm assuming the arial gets to keep his 25 dex throughout. At times I think dagger's (and thus concealed) been in vogue long enough that people have forgotten what a factor riposte can be in a fight that plays to it. I think this one would.

I think warrior edges (e.g., speed flurry, llorenthos) opened up enough variety to make them fun and dangerous. (Imagine people plotting ways to disarm/flurry... ok so they don't all have to be the creative sort of variety.)

But man! It rocked! I was a sheated blade under Kostyan. The build was really nasty already at that lvl. With all the nice swords at low lvl made it easy as well. (Later Kostyan throw me a ####load of über gear, even some stuff from the Silent Tower, and it became even more nasty.)
At one point I had 65ish damroll and (I'm guessing) around 600hps. Which is insanly good for an arial at lvl 28. (Or was it 29? I had riposte at least.) Always shoot first and then call whatever you hit the target.
