#24138, "Reputation questions"
|
Ok, some of these might overlap a bit, but here's some questions on how the CF reputation system works.
Does killing a member of cabal X outside cabal wars situation decrease your reputation with that cabal?
Does getting a WANTED flag decrease your reputation with TRIBUNAL?
Are there factors beyond Cabal wars to increase your reputation?
How do you increase your reputation with HERALD without being one?
What factors in general affect your reputation with a cabal?

Yes.
>Does getting a WANTED flag decrease your reputation with >TRIBUNAL?
Yes.

Depends on the cabal. Some yes, some no.
>How do you increase your reputation with HERALD without being >one?
How do you think you would increase your reputation with Herald?
>What factors in general affect your reputation with a cabal?
Again, depends on the cabal. Doing things that are in line with a cabals dogma = good. Doing things that area against a cabals dogma = bad. Example: Don't quaff a lot of potions if you want to be friendly with Battle. So long, and thanks for all the fish!

There's a trail of empty flasks leading to your house.
The orphans note your freudian leakage. Furthermore, I think Seantryn Modan must be destroyed.

There is residual magic (however small & trace) that will build up over time for your use. Or you can look at it as the Immortals of Battle know and mark you as such.
Take your pick.
It's going to take quite a bit of quaffing to move from neutral to Disliked and even more to Hated. So long, and thanks for all the fish!

You mention somewhere that every star means something, my question is a mechanical one.
Do you gain stars when you meet certain criteria, such as take the item ten times, kill five members, hug 32 virgins etc.
Or do you just have a score and each individual action just nudges it a little.
I mean curiosity is my pure motive here but I wonder if the system is geared towards achieving a variety of things vs doing the same thing over and over.

When it goes up or down one star. I think that could be handy.

Will there eventually be a way to gauge how liked or disliked someone is to your cabal?
Is/will reputation going to be a factor large enough to warrant outright war against individuals who aren't sworn enemies of a cabal but, through perhaps lots of minor dogma-infractions, become hated by a cabal?
If Zulg is a potion-quaffing, pill-popping uncaballed warrior who hasn't actually raided Battle or killed villagers but becomes “hated” by Battle, is that justification for the cabal to attack him on sight?

Can Imms adjust a character's reputation manually, perhaps based on interactions/observations undetectable by the reputation code? Splntrd

No immortals cannot adjust anyones reputation. If there becomes a need for such, it's easy enough to implement. So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Seems pretty cool. I guess I'm just unsure of the purpose of the system right now, other than it being shiny. My first thought was that it could be used as a tool for both Imms and the player. It could serve as a way to evaluate how closely a player's actions align with his character's stated and assumed objectives and preferences.
Without real consequences to reputation implemented yet, what is the purpose of being able to view this information? Is it just a supplement to the role command? Splntrd

For now, it's a gauge of how you should be treating/be treated by those people. For example, outlanders hate orcs, not necessarily a widely known fact, but checking your reputation you'd know that you're disliked by them. So long, and thanks for all the fish!
