#22033, "Suggestion re: Dex Change"
|
So I have noticed that people with high dex tend to go dagger. Besides Igbah, who was outfitted with awesome eq, most people with low-mid dex don't seem to have that good of a chance of beating out the dagger dex-monger.
I suggest changing parry so that it compares how heavy your weapon is as opposed to the enemy. By no amount should an elf wielding a dagger be able to parry a fire giant swining heavy axes easily.
This way, although dex helps dodge, str + weapon weight would help parry.
Thoughts?

Parry is largely strength-based. (n/t),

Depending on the circumstances of comparitive damage/hp/DR/etc., parrying less is potentially advantageous to a dagger warrior -- you need to dodge to concealed, and parry is checked before dodge. If you hypothetically reduce the dagger warrior's chance to parry to zero, he'll get hit more -- but he'll also deal more unblockable hits in return.

That would
A) Power dagger down considerably, which I'm not convinced it needs and B) Make it work much less intuitively -- for example, giants would probably be the best dagger specs

Think that might be taking it a bit far, considering that I believe it is dexterity that let's you land a lot of the other skills. I could be wrong on this but highly doubt changing concealed to parry would cause an overrun of dagger specialists - they'd still get destroyed by most dexterity-based warriors.

...just stating that if concealed was parry-based, giants necessarily wouldn't be the best dagger specs. Maybe the best warriors for concealed, but not the entire spec.

Hey, you're welcome to your opinion. It's not like I don't have a pretty good idea of how the other dagger skills work.
We'll probably never know for sure how it would play, because I don't see this change being made.

Daggers are already terrible weapons to parry with. Yes, even for the high dex elf dagger fighting the fire axe.
