#21873, "Your thoughts"

Been thinking about a warrior build myself. Maybe you guys have some input for me. Duergar mace/polearm with trapping/fist and hopefully Scion powers? Your thoughts?

Couple things... having played my share of duergar/dwarf, human and giant pole specs I can tell you that a duergar doesn't get a whole ton of mileage out of polearm. A lot of your skills are size based, so duergars don't do them well. It still has it's uses, particularly entrap and cutoff (and the occasional chargeset) but overall you'll get more out of other specs w/o something in your package that plays off of what the duerg pole spec is good at. (IE, my dagger/avalanche/cutoff build)
Having also had trapping on a pole spec I'll tell you that your heavy polearm choices are *somewhat* limited. The only two -really- good ones are going to be difficult to get solo, and the two that are juuust heavy enough to make trapping fire are not exactly easy to get. Not insurmountable, by any means, but it just seemed like between disarm, weaponbreak etc. I never held on to my prize polearms long.
In general I am unimpressed with trapping. "Back when" it was a great legacy choice, now I can't think of many scenarios where I'd take it over some others. Even less so on a duergar, even if you do take fist of the titan.
Now, I think if you did exactly what you are talking about but went fire giant, and dropped fist in favor of something else... (Maybe Fires!)It's a viable build. As a duergar though... eh... I think your in for a dissapointment.

My thinking went like this. Duergar is always going to have problems with paladins regardless, so I just have to deal with that. He should be dealing fierce amounts (if I can get the heavy weapons needed) of damage between the trapping and darkfist. Wasnt thinking so much on the sealing the kill side of it, as much as raiding and defending. As far as preps go, I can have a stoneskin and a shield at any given time, of course protection. Still working on the haste, cant seem to find one for a warrior. As for the neither bash/cranial working against a smart invoker, thats a matter of luck really, as he cant have the shield up to protect from bash and protect his head at the same time other than with a piece of head gear.

IMHO, Trapping is not your best choice if you're not one of the giant-sized races. The subset of maces that are very heavy that are also generally good maces and are also not two handed seems too small to me.
That being said it probably would work decently with the pole spec.

You sure can't. As far as I know there isn't one anymore, unique pieces of gear notwithstanding.

Shield of waves?

Yes. But if he has shield of waves then he can be bashed correct? Or am I mistaken in that he can only have one major shield at a time?

All of the major shields, including shield of waves, stop bash. (Technically, shield of ooze doesn't, but it's a little odd.)
