I haven't had this particular stunt pulled on me recently but I can't say I've seen any posts about it getting fixed.

Doing this deliberately would be clearly against the rules, specifically exploiting in-game mechanics to get an advantage. If someone does it, pray and we'll check it out. If you're considering doing it, don't!

Thats a weak answer, no offense Aarn. I may never abuse it, but I think you guys should atleast try and come up with a way to fix it, as its pretty devious and CLEARLY abuse.
And I know for certain someone will do it again.

Oh and I know quite well you guys would rather spend time on other projects, I just don't see any point if I'm going to die to some random abuse of code while exploring some neato area you guys just slapped in

Reward- Small increase in the chance of a nightgaunt working, assuming it locates and returns the victim.

Risk- Ending up in the Realm of the Dead because a staff member noticed you using an OOC trick to try to achieve an IC effect. Level 40 conjurers take some time to replace.

I haven't looked at the technical end of the problem. If there's a straightforward fix, we'll do it. If there isn't, or the fix would break 10 other things (example: Unlimited scroll may cause your link to break when you view the room), we can deal with the offenders directly instead.

You could just send an 'There are more stuff buried beneath the piles of stuff' echo if there are more than 70 different objects lying on the ground...

On a side note:

You might wanna do the same with the empty command. I was thinking how I would like to abuse that and it popped into my mind.

It might be better just attacking the core of the problem and making your commands go through even if there's a present. So a flee with that would both give you the rest of the spam and make you flee.

Could have a togglable status variable, sort of like corpseguard, autoloot, etc. Call it "groupitems" or something similar. If it's de-activated and there are more than N items on the ground in a room, everything over N gets lumped into a generic "numerous other items" echo. Have N be reasonably small (e.g. 10). If someone wants to view everything in the room, they just toggle "groupitems" off.

Though, this wouldn't address Marcus's idea re: empty.

I have seen rooms where there was more armor than that, used in nightgaunting.

I'll send up a pray, but, really, its one of the last of these stupid cheesy methods to kill so it'd be cool if there was a way to make that just not happen.

Not horrificly hard to have the code adjust that by character's scroll. I just don't think that it's a good idea.

Seems like it has more uses than just nightgaunts. Could use it to snag people you've just summoned into a room, stop someone spamming down a road, etc.
