#472, "DOC/README for all commands?"
|
Hello. I am new to the MUD environment and before I go out on the deep end I want to read a list of the majoraty (if not all) of the commands that you are able to do and when and where, plus a short description of them. I was expecting this to be on the help page but it doesn't seem like it is. I just want to read over all this before I actually start playing. If anybody know where such a document is please tell me (: thanx.

Every command should have a helpfile, which will often be cross-referenced to related helpfiles. You can search our helpfile database on our website using the "Search Help Topics" in the left margin.
Optionally, you can roll a level 1 character, read as many helpfiles as you like, delete that character, and begin again.
I don't recommend either of the above, however. I recommend rolling a level 1 character, reading 'help newbie1' and 'help newbie2', and proceeding into the Academy. (You'll begin there, so all you have to do is avoid leaving. If you do leave see 'help recall' for a way to get back to a spot near its entrance.) The Academy is designed to teach the game while being more immersive and entertaining than reading a pile of helpfiles.

Here are all the commands (I think - using the command button):
exits gaze get go inventory kill look order suggest succumb practice rest rehearse research score scan sing sip sit stand tell wield areas bug changes commands compare consider count crawl credits equipment examine glance guild help idea motd news read report rules skills socials spells supplicationspowers story time typo weather who whois wizlist worth graveyard autolist autoassist trustgroup trustcabal trustall autoexit autogold autoloot autosac autosplit brief color damage compact description deshield delete english nofollow noloot nosummon outfit passwor password prompt role scroll wimpy deaf emote gtell invoke music noreply note quiet keepreply reply uptime users say esay sayto yell cb fc clan pray newbie use brandish close drink drop eat empty fashionspearfashionstaff fill give nogive norescue heal hold list browse lock open put quaff recite remove request sell take sacrifice destroy dedicate unlock value wear zap trap gentlewalk concoct apply flee murder suicide unbind untie exchange ethos follow gain group cityties hometown pay quit recall save sleep speakwithdeadsplit sphere train legacy visible wake where whisper whisperto wt withdraw familiar famsee elem throwdown td banish release relinquish demotion
Now we just need and explanation of them and when/where to use them.

Anyway, when I started playing CF MUD, I was stumped by the numerious comands. I don't have time to read with all the scrolls and understand what each commands does.
What I did was to activate the log function in my client and then read the newbie helps later. Helped me a lot.
With your suggestion, perhaps the Imms helping newbies can compile a limited scope of newbie help text file for newbies browsing this site can read and download the various help and commands.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm supporting you and crossing my fingers.
