#45130, "[TRIBUNAL] Hilamar Ta-Hatan the Prophet of the Winds, Magistrate of Seantryn Modan"
|
Hilamar Ta-Hatan the Prophet of the Winds, Magistrate of Seantryn Modan
DescriptionSmall by even by the typical civilized cloud giant, Hilamar is just slightly over ten feet tall. His loose and flowing granite gray hair contrasts with his milky white skin. His vivid aquamarine eyes peer out from underneath bushy eyebrows, while the rest of his face is clean-shaven. The nose is smashed close to his face, just above his pale, thin lips. He is dressed, as you would find a priest, with a long white bear cloak tucked around his back. His body is not as massive as many giants can be, but he is not weak by any means either.

RoleChapter 9 Return of Khor'Mun Added Sat Dec 29 16:32:17 2012 at level 38:A sense of dread filled Hilamar when he stepped into the Spire for the first time on his return. He wished to see the Provost, but blood stains could be seen throughout the Spire. Both the Captain and Executioner where slain, as was a magistrate, upon his last bit of life. In the year that Hilamar was away, it seemed the spire itself rotted away. Hilamar and this magistrate talked long, and Hilamar's feeling grew worse. Eldrinoth told Hilamar of how the leadership was seldom about, how magistrates were stuck in Seantryn Modan, and how chaos was spreading. But Hilamar would not be daunted. He went about his tasks, trying to inspire the spire once again and praying to Fjarn to send one to aid the Spire.
In tales told by the campfires, many will say it was luck that brought the ship to the docks of Seantryn Modan while Hilamar stood guard in the city, but Hilamar felt deep in his heart was his prayers, for Fjarn in his ways had sent aid to the Spire in the form of Khor'Mun the White Lion. Khor'Mun, by some tales, a once powerful force within the Spire had long be out to sea, far from the tri-port cities. He came into town, and found Hilamar, asking of the Tribunal and how it fared. And Hilamar, listening and watching the winds surrounding this man who stood before him, told him the truth of how bad things were.
Khor'Mun was curious, seeming not to believe Hilamar at first, but Khor'Mun also knew that chaos was taking sway in the city ports. Khor'Mun had Hilamar prepare himself, for together they would ride upon the seas to the ports in the north and see this chaos for themselves. Together, they quickly found a smaller vessel on the seas and rushed after it as he sped towards Hamsah Mu'tazz. As the smaller vessel approached the port, Khor'Muns vessel was finally able to sink the smaller one, but not before a man dashed onto the port, heading deep into the city. Hilamar and Khor'Mun followed in quick succession, hunting for this figure, one whom Khor'Mun recognized as Arcanus. But they lost them in the city. Hilamar called forth for others to come and aid the Spire, and though others came to the city, none came to help the Spire. Some came for fame, others wealth, and others to spread more chaos. Assassins of Arcanus soon lept out of the shadows, attacking the gatherings, letting all know that chaos had taken hold of Hamsah Mu'tazz. When none but Hilamar would step forth for Khor'Muns calling, they retreated for the moment, for Hamsah Mu'tazz was in chaos and none could stop it.

|
RoleChapter 1 Safety Added Sun Sep 30 07:32:49 2012 at level 9:Air. Since the beginning of creation, air has been present. It is what breathes life into mortals and when they leave this world, it is the last thing to escape out of their bodies, believed by some to carry the soul with it. Some even believe that air is the souls of past mortals and immortals, watching as the struggle for life continues throughout the ages. They see all, hear all, and know all, for air is everywhere. It has been said by the cloud giants of the north, throughout history, there are those rare individuals whom are so attuned to the element they were born of, that they can actually hear words upon the winds. Hilamar is thought to be one such giant.
Nothing is known of his parents, or none speak of it if they do know. He was discovered when a strong gust of wind blew a paladin, on her way to crusade against Udgaard, into the bushes on the side of the road. There, she found the baby giant, bundled up in a blanket, not making a sound as his eyes darted left to right. Not knowing what to do with the cloud giant, but knowing that the order was working with other cloud giants, she took him with her, nursing him as best she could. Once the paladin arrived at the village, she handed him to the cloud giant priestess, and went to see her commanding officer. The paladin was slain the following day in a fight against an Udgaard patrol. The village, though it was struggling to survive, accepted the child as one of their own, and all giants pulled together to help take care of him.

|
RoleChapter 2 Nurturing Added Sun Sep 30 07:37:30 2012 at level 9:Raising a child is a hardship in the best of times, but the struggle for life in the village was poor at best. Constant attacks, poor hunting and harvest, and aiding the paladins had caused the giants stocks of food to fall short. Everyone was already trying there hardest to survive and prosper. The King, in his wisdom to share the burden amongst the villagers, decreed that the child, who's name would be Hilamar, would spend one month with each family, then be passed onto another family. Himself and the priestess would also watch Hilmar for one month each year. No family would have to watch over him twice in a five year period except the King and the Priestess. And so, Hilamar's life on the move began.
At first, most of the village did not enjoy Hilamar within their homes. He was young, and a child still, of no use. But as the years passed, the view of the villagers changed. Hilamar became a good child, always obedient, and willing to do whatever it took to help those that he lived with. And in turn, each family gave to Hilamar, teaching him different skills, from cooking, sewing, hunting, and carving. When he was with the King, he would learn the wisdom of diplomacy, watching the King deal with others of the village and abroad. And when he was with the Priestess, he would assist in the prayers, and tend to those that were injured. After nearly thirty seasons, the villagers actually expressed interest in adopting Hilamar, but the King did not wish that. He wished the boy to continue to be passed about, to learn as much as he could. And so it went, for fifty years, Hilamar was the child of the village.

RoleChapter 3 Puberty Added Sun Sep 30 08:22:50 2012 at level 9:Somewhere around his fifty year of breath, the King decreed it was time for Hilamar to live on his own. All around the village, everyone helped to build Hilamar his own hut to live in. Hilamar finally had a home to call his own. Though young still for a cloud giant, he was also given the choice of how he would aid the village, and after though, Hilamar went to the Priestess and asked if he could assist with the temple and religious aspects of life. He never felt more alive then when he was within the temple, tending to the needs of others. And with that, the Priestess took him under her arms and taught him the ways of the healer.
As Hilamar became more conscious of the divine beings, and calling upon their power, he began to be disturbed by nightmares. He would awaken himself by tossing and turning, unable to recall what scared him. And the dreams got worse as his awareness grew. He told the Priestess of his problems, and together they tried to consult the Divine Bear, but as was often the case, no answers came forth. She started making him herbal medicines to take before he slept, and though it did calm his nightmares, they still persisted.
Several more seasons passed, before Hilamar first heard the wind speak to him. He was within the temple, in the back room, preparing for the evening service, when a strong gust blew into the room. At first, he thought nothing of it, but then a whisper was heard, "Udgaard Comes. Prepare.". So startled was Hilamar, that he rushed to the King and told him what had happened. Though, confused, the King ordered the giants to prepare and stand ready. And that night, just as Hilamar said, Udgaard forces were at the gates. With the warning of the King, they were easily able to repel the attack, and the village was safe. If not for Hilamar, many would have perished.

RoleChapter 4 Words Upon the Wind Added Sun Sep 30 08:26:36 2012 at level 9:As time passed, Hilamar heard more and more words from the air. He knew when a strong winter storm was coming, where to fish upon the waters with success, which path the deer might take. All these, from the whispers heard upon the wind. He also heard at times, whispers of words, that were not successful, such as the strong rains coming, and how one day would be nice and beautiful, only to turn out horrendous. And then even some days, when great events would happen, the winds did not speak. The people of the village praised him when his predictions were right, but also cursed him when they were wrong. Why could some prove right, and others wrong? Was it that Hilamar did not understand fully how to hear the wind? That was what the King and Priestess thought in private conversations. They were certain Hilamar was one of the ancient Harbingers of the Winds. It is what the cloud giants called those that are attuned to air. But neither had heard of one in many generations. And so few were the Harbingers, that some thought they were just fireside tales.
As the years passed, Hilamar's skill at listening grew worse. His "prophecies" became more and more less accurate, and the village conditions began to worsen. Food was becoming even scarcer, and the constant fighting was wearing upon the lands surrounding the village. Hilamar wished the best for the village, for he had come to refer to the entire village as his family, and felt a bond to all the people within it. He felt obligated to insure the village's survival, so he put forth as much effort as one could possibly expect. Still, things slowly got worse.
Then one day, while out by the lakeside looking for food, he heard strong words upon the winds. "Hilamar leave village. Go forth. Find strength in Wind. Return stronger." The voice seemed deep and sincere, wiser then anything he has heard on the wind to date. Hilamar thinks upon the wisdom of this course of action a little then goes and talks to the King about it. The King listens, and thinks upon this. He does not wish Hilamar to leave, but he can also see the wisdom of him going forth. He reaches behind the throne and pulls forth an Academy Token. He gives Hilamar directions to the Academy, and sends Hilamar off onto his adventure, reminding him to come back some day.

RoleChapter 5 Joining the Blood Tribunal, Part I Added Sat Dec 15 19:38:31 2012 at level 33:As often happens, ones path in life can easily be steered in a different direction by a strong wind. And so it happened with Hilamar. Hilamar did not see himself becoming a Magistrate of the Blood Tribunal. He saw himself more as a wandering preacher, speaking of the glory of Fjarn, and learning more of the gift he was given as well as where he came from. Three winds of fate finally steered Hilamar to the Spire.
The first was when Hilamar was in Hamsah Mu'tazz, just after coming from preaching to merchants on the Caravan Road. The Sultan decided to be generous that day, and began an auction of rare items to aid the orphans. Hilamar, though he did not have much gold, attended the auction to help support the Orphans. As the auction proceeded, a young transmuter by the name of Grippledank came in and thinking Hilamar a weak minded giant started attacking him with his mental jolts. Hilamar fought him off, but the ensuing chaos disrupted the sultan's good work. Grippledank then proceeded to lecture Hilamar on the use of coins and serving order, just for attending an auction to help orphans like himself.
The second incident took place in Galadon, while Hilamar studied within the guild. Panza, a goodly felar of the warriors' guild, who worked as a Magistrate in Galadon, was standing duty when two villagers came running into town, quickly striking him down. Both were known as Berserkers, and not a single mage was within the city. They reasoned that since one of them was a criminal, that made Panza a raider and could then attack him, especially since he had two guards with him. After seeing these two berserkers constantly attacking magistrates that had no tie's to magic, Hilamar began assisting the magistrates whenever the village came to Galadon to cause chaos, which was surprisingly often, and then quickly return to the village.

|
RoleChapter 6 Joining the Blood Tribunal, Part II Added Sat Dec 15 19:45:56 2012 at level 33:The final incident was a crime committed by one of the Fortress members, a bard by the name of Baqizr. Baqizr had sung a shaman of the empire to sleep at the gates of Galadon, and then proceeded to sing more songs upon him. What struck Hilamar wrong, besides the chaos this bard was causing, was this bard did not care about the guards, children, or citizens that his songs were affecting. Then the bard did the unspeakable, he used a staff of plague, which quickly started to spread throughout the city. When asked about how Baqizr intended to stave off the plague, he did not care, and continued to his chase after evil, leaving the citizens of Galadon suffering from plague. Hilamar spent the next several days, curing the citizens, in an effort to stop the suffering of the plague.
Good, evil, or balanced, few seemed to care for order in Hilamar's eyes, and the winds that Hilamar related to best, shared his views as well. He rested for a day, listening to the winds, then went to stand before the Spire and pledged himself to the Blood Tribunal. Though, it was a while before he was inducted into the Spire, he had developed a reputation amongst its members for aiding and inspiring them in their times of need, and in her last act as Provost, Ziruanja brought Hilamar into the spire, before retiring herself.

|
RoleChapter 7 Trouble at Hilamar's Village, Part 1 Added Sat Dec 29 16:12:00 2012 at level 38:"Some can hear, but do not listen. Some can listen, but do not understand. And then there are the rare ones that understand."
The words were spoken by Fjarn to Hilamar when they first met. So many years ago, and to this day, Hilamar holds them dear to his heart. Hilamar has felt that he has come to understand the meaning of those words, even if he does not fully understand the words he hears. He has progressed to the level of listening, able to discern between the various winds their intentions. Some still seek to spread chaos, while others seek justice to what became of them. Others wish to see order done or tasks accomplished, and yet still others just wish to see the world go on. Hilamar learned how to listen to the winds when messages were important, but to most, he just simply hears the message.
It was just one such incident of listening that caught Hilamar's attention. He heard upon the wind the words of the one he considered the "imp", a malicious figure long forgotten by Thera. The figure was gloating, about the plague decimating a village far from the city of Seantryn Modan. As one of Hilamar's most feared things, the news of plague always caught his attention. It was then, he heard a kindred voice upon the winds, telling him of the plague in village of his home. Hilamar quickly took off his badge of office, and informed the captain of the guard he would have to travel home once more.
.... continued in next chapter.

|
RoleChapter 8 Trouble at Hilamar's Village, Part 2 Added Sat Dec 29 16:18:10 2012 at level 38:When Hilamar arrived, things were worse than he had heard. Nearly the entire village had contracted the plague, even the great priestess. Hilamar set about at once, first healing the priestess then the King. He worked tirelessly for a week, until the village was cleansed. That night, he slept in a room at the temple, his old house now home to another family. When he awoke in the morning, he discovered he himself had contracted the plague, and the entire village again was covered with plague. He closed his eyes and went about his prayers once more, cleansing the village of the plague, only for it to reoccur again. For six months this continued, everyday curing more of the plague, while taxing himself. Then suddenly, just as if the sun rose and vanquished the darkness, the plague vanished. Hilamar found himself in his village once again, around those that he felt were family, and he became complacent. He was now known as a plaguetender, one who helped the plagued. He preached of Fjarn, explaining the ways of the wind, and helped the priestess and king when required. He had grown much since he left, and all seemed pleased. It was at this time that Hilamar considered retiring from adventuring and settling down within the village to live out his life.
Then one day, after returning from prayer, and assisting the king, he walked into his room, and noticed for the first time in a year, the badge he had been given when he first joined the Tribunal. Memories filled his head, and he felt he still had work to do. He gathered his belongs and bid the village farewell once more, returning to Spire, to spread the wisdom of Fjarn and bring order to the cities.

RoleChapter 10 Rise of the Blood Tribunal Added Sat Dec 29 16:37:48 2012 at level 38:Over the next several weeks, as Hilamar spread the words of Khor'Mun amongst the Spire, Magistrates long thought lost began to reappear. First amongst them was Provincial Xupreth, whom Hilamar introduced to Khor'Mun. Xupreth was then tasked with bringing applicants into the Spire for training, while Hilamar tasked with spreading the word of the Blood Tribunal to all, and gathering new magistrates. Both worked diligently towards this process, and soon, new magistrates were filling the halls of the Spire.
Shortly later, Khor'Mun called the magistrates to a Tavern in Arkham, away from prying eyes. At this meeting was the Provincial Magistrate Xupreth, and Magistrates Hilamar, Tirlan, Bshmark, and Colfax. Each was given a task to perform, to aid in the return of the Blood Guard. All dispersed accomplish their set tasks, and soon, Khor'Mun called upon Xupreth and Hilamar to the Spire. There, Hilamar was promoted to the rank of Provincial Magistrate to aid the rising of the Spire. Xupreth was given the choice of Justiciar or Vindicator, but Hilamar felt the winds upon him, and said what was needed. Though Hilamar knew Xupreth would do justice in either position, Hilamar saw that the Spire needed a Provost, and Hilamar put forward the thought that Xupreth was ready for the position. Xupreth accepted, and a new Provost was recognized within the Spire.
Provincial Perr also awoken at this time, and began to berate Hilamar and Xupreth for welcoming into the Spire this Khor'Mun, thinking him an agent of Chaos itself. He saw that the both Hilamar and Xupreth had also taken it upon themselves to break from tradition, and bring within the Spire those of the dark arts. Hilamar interjected though, pointing to the fact that the Spire can not look upon people as good or evil. That each person must be judged by order or chaos, that good and evil must be blind to Justice. And that the Spire had long been swayed to the ways of the light. It was then that Khor'Mun promoted Perr to the Rank of Justiciar.
And then after time, the old Provost awoken, Purmodin, who had given so much to the Spire. He was left as a Magistrate of Galadon, but Hilamar listened to the winds once more. He asked Khor'Mun to given Purmodin a position of responsibility, and Purmodin had always sought the position of Justiciar, and so, for his service, he was assiged the responsibilities of the Justiciar.
And so the Spire grew in numbers and strength, though still, unable to bring order to outside of the cities where chaos awaited. Then, Luthien the Red, Blood Guard of Thera began appearing around the realm. The winds swirled, and Hilamar could feel a new power of order growing within the Spire.

RoleChapter 11 Beginning of the Family Matters Journey Added Sat Dec 29 16:50:23 2012 at level 38:Beginning of the Family Matters Journey.
As is known to all Harbingers of the Wind, air contains the souls and memories of beings of the past. They have lived their lives, and fate has determined when to take them. Some share those memories and knowledge, while others guard the knowledge like a dragon guards its gold. And for some reason unknown, when the winds wish to keep a secret, even those that do not wish to keep the secret can not pass it on.
Hilamar has long sought the answers that any orphan wishes to know. Where did he come from? Who are his parents? What happened to his parents that they no longer wanted him? He asked the winds on multiple occasions, in varying ways, about his past, but the winds remained silent, for something did not wish him to know of his past. He let it go long ago, figuring it was something that he would never learn.
But, in one of his pilgrimages to the Mountain Temple, Juelen spoke to him. She used her divine powers upon Hilamar, trying to see into him, to see the winds. And though the winds answered, she was unable to provide Hilamar answers. It was told to him, that he would need to seek the answers out himself, for only then would he be able to complete himself.
But where to begin. Hilamar had become accustomed to the winds providing the answers or guiding him, but what he sought, the winds could not show. He knew the thieves guild held many secrets though, and paying the Galadon and Hamsah Guildmasters's their dues, he asked them to seek out knowledge of his parents or past, whatever they might find. He might not like where the journey takes him, but he was prepared to follow it to the end.

RoleChapter 12 Winds of Fortune Added Wed Jan 2 16:36:20 2013 at level 38:It was a day of celebration throughout the lands. Hilamar could see the people of Thera running to and fro, but he did not understand why, so he gathered up his belongings and headed down to see what was happening in the land. He spoke to the newly promoted Provincial Magistrate Urses, who told Hilamar of how the Goddess of Love had scattered boxes of fortune throughout Thera. Those that would find the boxes would be gifted a small boon, should they retrieve the box and bring it back to the Bathhouse. Urses then suggested to Hilamar to check the Spiderhaunt woods, so Hilamar went there, but something was amiss, and Hilamar did not feel the winds guiding him.
He went to Seantryn Modan, thinking upon the boxes when he could feel the winds pulling towards the south, towards the village Aturi and the farms there. Hilamar went there, and walked upon the fields, when suddenly a strong gust of wind from the east smashed into Hilamar, knocking him over and onto his back. He stood up slowly when another burst of wind flew forward, knocking him over as well. Hilamar had known winds, and felt their force before, but nothing as strong as the winds before him, not even when in the presence of Fjarn. He hunkered down and moved against the winds, fighting forward when a wind then came from the north to knock him off balance before another wind from the south came and struck him, knocking him back again.
Hilamar knew that something caused these winds, and he would need to find out what. He surged forward again, bracing himself. The wind came, but he was prepared for it, then another from a different angle, so he shifted himself slightly to fight against that wind. And so it went, as Hilamar glided down the path, fighting against each gust of air. And then he came upon the golden chest, with a scroll in it. He had heard of others talk of trading and bartering the scrolls that they found, but Hilamar did not wish to barter. The winds guided him to this scroll, and so this scroll is what the winds saw in his future.
He took the scroll to Lady Rayihn, who looked at it and seemed surprised. "Ah, this one" she stated, and as she looked at Hilamar, Hilamar could feel that his persistence had paid off. For while facing the winds, he had learned how to better balance himself, and was now more nimble then most giants of the clouds.

RoleChapter 13 The Family Matters Journey, Part 1. Added Mon Jan 14 19:56:24 2013 at level 48:As Hilamar should have known, when dealing with thieves, be prepared to be robbed. He did not have much hope that the thief guildmasters would find anything, but he sought a place to start. One thing Hilamar did not think of at the time though was how thorough Paladin's guild was on keeping records. It was his fellow Magistrate, Tirlan, who pointed out speaking to the paladin guildmaster might be a wise choice. And so it was. Hilamar was sent to speak to the commander of the paladin forces fighting near his home. The commander's squire came in with a large tome, and they panned back the pages to the day that Hilamar first arrived at the village. And for the first time in his many years of life, Hilamar had a name for the woman who found and saved him. Helaina. She was directed to follow a road out the west gates of Galadon, through the north, avoiding the main roads. And with her record of her travels to the commander, Hilamar found that he had been found near the South Dairein Settlement.
With this information, he went to Justiciar Purmodin, hoping that his records might help as well. And they did. for they showed a battle at the South Dairein Settlement on that date, between the militia and savages from the wild. No casualties were recorded, but the commander of the settlement, a giant by the name of Muritel, resigned his commission that day, and was never seen or heard from again.
Another clue in the chain of finding his past, but with the name of Muritel in his grasp, Hilamar focused upon the winds, seeking out the one named Muritel amongst all the voices, but Hilamar could not discover a way to speak with this giant. He would need to find a way to strengthen his ability to listen and speak to the winds.
His search for a means to contact this giant took Hilamar to the Celestial Lyceum, Gypsies of Barovia, masters of the arts of conjuration and necromancy, and the priestess within his village. All of which pointed to the same thing. To be able to pull a spirit and talk to it the way Hilamar wished, Hilamar would need to be on the brink of death near the spirit world. Hilamar began to gather the reagents he would need to make a potion of death mist.

RoleChapter 14 The Family Matters Journey, Part 2 Added Mon Jan 14 20:01:08 2013 at level 48:After preparing the potion, Hilamar sat on a ledge high atop a mountain, within a animal hide tent, a small fire burning in the middle. Winds could be heard howling about the outside, but they did not penetrate the hides. The idea was simple, as the fumes filled the tent, Hilamar would fall into the deep sleep of death, his final breaths, and in this time, be able to see and speak to the spirits of the air. No longer would they be able to hold secrets from him. His hands would be tied to straps of the tent so when the poison began to take affect, he would fall over, pulling open the tent and dispersing the fumes away from him. The toxin should quickly dissipate upon the thin air at that height.
Hilamar poured the potion into the pan that sat upon the fire, and with a quick sizzle and pop, the fumes spread throughout the tent and Hilamar felt the poison enter his veins. It did not take long for Hilamar to begin his final breaths, and in those breaths he called out to Muritel, to come forward. The light of life slowly began to fade from Hilamar's eyes, as a giant figure began to take form before him. Then, all at once, everything became clear. He stood there, upon a beautiful cloud in the skies, the sun just beginning to rise in the east. Another giant stood there as well, Muritel, looking like a much older image of Hilamar.
"Hilamar, son of Sutymae, should not have come. Muritel knows of what Hilamar has done. And Muritel should not have kept secret from Hilamar, but feared for what Hilamar might do if knew truth of family. For Muritel is Hilamar's grandfather," the elderly giant said to Hilamar. Muritel then went into details of the past. Unbeknownst to Hilamar though, his plan for ridding the tent of the toxin had failed. He had fallen forward, with enough slack that the tent did not fall over, and he continued to unconsciously inhale the death mists.

|
RoleChapter 15 The Family Matters Journey, Part 3 Added Mon Jan 14 20:17:40 2013 at level 48:Muritel went on to explain to Hilamar what he knew. His wife, Syatae whom was Hilamar's grandmother, was gifted as Hilamar was, with the ability to hear upon the winds. Many in her family were gifted with the ability, though the family kept it a great secret for the winds often lied and drove those that could hear them mad with time. Had the family known of Hilamar they would have taken him in, yet none knew of Hilamar's existance until it was too late. Syatae perished giving birth to Hilamar's father, Sutymae.
Muritel was a militant man, rigid in discipline and order, and he treated Sutymae as a commanding officer would treat a subordinate. Muritel expressed regret in this, not realizing during his life that he himself drove Sutymae away. Sutymae did not like being told what to do, and as time went on, he grew more defiant and adventurous. The bond between a father and a son never grew between the two men. But Sutymae began to stew with hatred for his father, for he blamed his father for Syatae's death during birth.
In Sutymae's excursions to escape his father rule, he came upon the druidess Lyrase, a fierce and combatant giant who at first thought Sutymae sought destroy the grove that she painstakingly took care of. She came at Sutymae, but Muritel had been sure to teach Sutymae how to properly defend himself, and he was able to match Lyrase blow for blow until they both collapsed exhausted. Each had earned the respect of the other, and a friendship blossomed. That friendship blossomed into love for one another, and Lyrase began to teach Sutymae the ways of the ancients of Thar-Eris. Soon, the two ran off together, not to be seen or heard from for several years.
Muritel took a position within the South Dairein Settlement as commander of the guard. He was a good commander, and kept the settlement at peace. That is until one day two cloud giants came down upon the settlement, screaming of Thar-Eris, and how civilization was destroying her. They began attack shops and citizens, howling widly. Muritel gathered his weapon and went out to meet the two giants. He did not realize that the first giant he clashed weapons against was Lyrase, for he only met her once or twice, but his training and mightly blows quickly penetrated her defenses, and with one mightly blow to the side of her head, caved in her skull. She dropped helplessly to the ground. Muritel heard a mighty roar escapes the other giant, just in time to look up to see Sutymae rushing at him, his axe high above his head, ready to end Muritel's life.

RoleChapter 16 The Family Matters Journey, Part 4 Added Mon Jan 14 20:28:01 2013 at level 48:Muritel could not believe his own son fought him so fiercely, but when he looked into Sutymae's eyes, he could see the rage there had washed away the remains of his son. He knew this day, he would die, or his son would die, by one or the others hands. They fought the mightiest of battles, landing blows upon each other that would outright slay a human. For nearly six hours the two battled, while the villagers watched on from their homes. And then it happened, Sutymae overextended and Muritel saw his chance. Muritel dodged to the left, then brought his hammer down hard upon Sutymae's upper back and the sound of the vertebrae shattering could be heard. He turned Sutymae upon his back and knelt down beside his son, his hand resting upon Sutymae's chest, while Sutymae glared back at Muritel in disgust. "Know... this day Muritel, that your... line fades from... Thera...," Sutymae said with his last breath, his rage and hatred consuming him. Muritel passed command to another that day, and took Sutymae and Lyrase's bodies high atop a mountain peek, the same peek that Hilamar used to communicate with Muritel unknowingly. Muritel burned the bodies, and then floating out off of the mountain side, let himself fall down along the mountainside, until his body came to rest at its base, smashed and shattered, a lifeless husk.
Muritel continued talking to Hilamar, "Now Hilamar see why Muritel keep secret from Hilamar. Muritel did not know of Hilamar, or Muritel would have been there for Hilamar. And so Muritel beg for forgiveness. Sutymae did not wish Hilamar to live, further punishment for Muritel, so Muritel force silence upon all. Muritel tell name of forefathers, Tahatan, though ask Hilamar not to use name. Name has been shamed, by Muritel and Sutymae. Hilamar better then both. Find new name, make kin proud to be of lineage of Hilamar." Suddenly, the clouds began to darken, the sun turned black, and thunder could be heard in the distance.
At that moment, a falcon who had been clawing at the side of the tent, screeched and flew high into the air, before turning and diving against the side of the tent, pushing the tent slightly onto its side, just enough for a strong gust of wind to grab hold and push it off the side of the ledge, taking an unconcious Hilamar down with it.
(Gave 30% chance of success, rolled 25, Success!)

RoleChapter 17 The Family Matters Journey, Part 5 Added Sat Jan 19 22:14:43 2013 at level 51:Hilamar came to crushed against a large tree, held from falling farther down the mountain by it, but his body was injured badly. He tried to call upon his faith, but even that was beyond him. He held in his hand an orb of travel, sending him back to where he calls home. Provincial Urses and Provst Xupreth knew something was wrong when Hilamar was unable to answer them clearly. They began searching for Hilamar and then found him. They gave Hilamar items to eat to counteract the poison coursing through his veins. And then they stood over guard Hilamar as he recovered. Is recovery was not swift, taking several days, and his faith slowly returned over that time. He thought upon what he had learned and traveled to speak with Juelen, the Windgiver.
Juelen was happy to see Hilamar return, and listen as he told her what he had learned. Hilamar at the time was not sure if he had found his name or not. He felt that though his blood was that of "Tahatan", his family was the village. Juelen though interjected that perhaps there was more to this name of Tahatan. And so with those thoughts, Hilamar went on to the libraries of Thera to research more of this name.
After an exhausting search, Hilamar found the information he needed. The name dated all the way back to the days when the giants of the clouds first began to awaken. They were one of the first to awaken, and took the name of Ta-Hatan, meaning Cold Wind of the Northern Peaks. The forbearers of the name were never kings, but often seemed drawn to causes that were in need of aid. They would gravitate towards these causes, and after time, strengthen the cause the believed in. Few within the line were ever worshippers of the divine, though all of the line respected the power of the divine.
As Hilamar read more upon his forbearers, and the meaning behind the name, he was certain that Juelen was correct, that the path he walked brought him to this name, though he decided to take the more traditional name of Ta-Hatan. He would continue as his forbearers did, and bring strength to Blood Tribunal and Village for those were the causes he fought for.
