#18675, "Astral Doubleback unavailable"
|
Ok, so I sat down and spammed projection so I could take the Astral Doubleback edge. I've had it a dozen times before with other characters. I've always been able to take it at level 31 with 91% projection, and it was always a fairly inexpensive edge. So I try to discuss with me guildmaster, but the edge doesn't show up on the list, even though Ehren Soul is available. I think maybe the requisite percentage has changed, so I spam the spell to 100%. Still nothing. So then I wonder if perhaps the cost of the edge has been increased, so I got rake in several thousand observation and several thousand exploration xp. When I get back, still nothing. Then, just for the sake of comparison, I spamm up conjure angel and lightbind spells. Then I choose the edge Student of Virtue (I would have taken it eventually anyway) so that Sword of the Heavens will show up on my list. I discuss again, and sure enough, I have enough edge points for Sword of the Heavens. Now I KNOW that is a very expensive edge. It seems highly unlikely to me that Astral Doubleback should be more expensive than Sword of the Heavens. Sure, it's a cool edge to have, but let's be honest, it's not THAT spectacular. Therefore, I assume it must be a bug. About a year ago, I played another conjurer that ran into this same problem. I bug boarded it at that time as well, but never saw a response to it. I even searched the board for astral doubleback, to see if it had been answered while I was gone, but there was nothing. As far as I can tell, I meet all the prerequisites to take the edge. Below is a log to prove it.

Astral doubleback has an Immortal XP component to them.
When you find an edge that discuss prereq shows nothing that you are missing there is usually a hidden prereq that you don't have (for example: immortal xp, observation xp, PKs, invoker affinity, etc.) So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Which is why it is specifically called out in the helpfile.
Discuss prereq will provide you a list of basic prerequisites (specfic stats & skills required, if you're too low level to learn it, or whether you'll never be able to learn it). It will not tell you if you need something special like imm experience, observation experience, some number of player kills, etc.
So long, and thanks for all the fish!
