laden carts, the sandals of nomad traders, the boots of mercenaries, and
the stitched shoes and slippers of visiting merchants.  Tenements spring
up at the feet of warehouses to the south, the sound of laborers toiling
in the shipyards and babies crying from darkened rooms above you.  In
between the storehouses to the north sits the dockmaster's house and
meager garden.  To the west the Al Abbas continues towards the crowded
city market.  To the east it leads towards the docks.
