Entrance to the Mine 
  This large tunnel has been hewn into the cavern wall.  As your eyes adjust 
to the darkness, you see that the rock walls are of a mixture of shale and 
granite supported by large wooden beams.  The tunnel slants downward and to 
the south opening up into a large shaft going downward.  Many booted feet 
seem to have walked here covering up grooves from wagon wheels that have 
not been used in a while.

A plaque is posted outside the entrance to the tunnel.
