It's obviously some sort of contract between the guilds and the town healers. Town healers resurrect you, and you pay them fat whenever you are hurt, poisoned, blind, plagued, malaria, cursed, have a cursed item, etc. etc. etc. The guilds contract this with the healers are mutually beneficial... can't have their members dying off with a stiff breeze, the who would pay for all the practicing?
