Chapter 3

I. Laws are in place to protect:
I have studied the law of magistrates, and power is found within the
constraints of civility and order. Self-policing was a tactic I learned here;
by having laws and tenets to follow- one could create a system where
individuals are more inclined to self-police one another-allowing you to focus
lethal force on the few deemed deviant. I believe in and adhere to a system of
checks and balances. I find power in walking the tight line when necessary and
adhering to the Imperial aspects of lethality and vengeance.

Simply put, Laws create a bulwark of protection amongst its citizens and its
hire-ups. It indoctrinates one into the inner workings of civility and order,
which can lead to prosperity and conquest instead of chaos and disorder. Laws
protect the institution of civilization.

II. Banks are in place to protect your wealth: We are a system-a system of
checks, balances, and ripple effects. With the protection of my wealth within
the Banks, I can rest assured in the system that I also project to the
citizens beneath me. Trust the system, give your money to the banks, and we
will care for you.

As I prepare for my oath and ascent, I have stored seventy-five gold within
the Bank. It was hardly a small feat for someone of my stature, but it was
merely the beginning.



III. Those in power shall be worshiped and obeyed.
I have experienced the crushing power of the Maul and the magic that is the
earth. Lord Rillan is to be worshipped, exalted, and, most importantly,
obeyed. Speaking directly to my Lord out of term cost me but taught me all the
same. I threw myself at his talons and was reborn anew. This is the power
behind this tenet. I will be worshipped by all other mortals, especially
within the palace. Even the High Herald acknowledges and regards me only by
the title of
*Your Grace*.

IV. Be The Man of the People
Power is not defined sheerly by strength, wit, and charisma. It is defined by
the eyes, mouth, and ears of those who view you as their leader. To be of the
people is to win them over in heart, mind, and soul. You can remain grounded
in their needs and create a veneer of tolerance while pushing forth your
agenda and vision.

I have begun this by working closely with my peers in the Empire and liaisons
outside of the palace and Imperial Way. With these connections and networks, I
can lay the groundwork for a name that carries weight and, hopefully, the
possibility of a vote.


V. Control the narrative: I excelled at this, perhaps due to my charisma or
intellect. But psychological warfare and the ability to demoralize an
individual was innate to me. I recognized that I could keep a pristine name
while subduing and poisoning individuals who got in my way. This combination
worked wonders in controlling the narrative surrounding me and my ambitions. I
recognized that the higher I climbed, the more likely I was to slip. This
could become of me.
