I would have liked to have known my father, I believe. What stories of the
wilderness could he have shared? The endless blanket of bright stars
cascading down over the peaks of the jade mountains, the cold sleepless
nights of frigid blasts where one might trade his soul for a warm blanket and
a warm body to share it with, the ever present vigilance against intruders of
any race into the virgin landscapes of his home. I would have treasured any
of the tales greatly. My mother said he was a valiant and brave warrior,
that his presence was gentle but commanding, as if the sun and moon rose at
his bidding. It is a very romantic tale, but not one for our purposes here.
How she, an emissary from Darsylon, was to confront the secretive culture of
the jade elves and establish a rapport and possible trade connection, how she
was separated in a blinding blizzard from her fellows and nearly froze to
death during this time, and of a forbidden and passionate love that rose out
of her timely rescue. Far-fetched as it was with the culture barriers, it
goes to show that love knows no bounds, among other fanciful clichs. I will
never be convinced that his death was truly taken during a routine defense of
the mountains he knew like the back of his hand, but again, it is a tale for
another time.

My mother was nobility, of course, or she wouldnt have been trusted to such
important duties. Her house name is unimportant, as I myself will never carry
it, being the bastard child that I am. Her story you could probably tell
with your own voice as it is a tale of ordinary nobility, save for the
journey to the Jade Elves in which she lost her houses favor and status
therein. Life certainly changed upon her return. The nobles of Darsylon
have pleasant hearts, no doubt, but let them sense weakness and a tainting of
bloodlines interbred with 'The Untamed and Uncouth', and you will sense
malice where there was once warmth, and scorn where there was once praise.
