Chapter 16

Born and bred by assassins, Ginharq was a child accustomed to war, stealth and and death.
Her parents were merciless and cruel mercenary killers, who killed as gold was proffered.
The night on which she was given birth to, her father had just returned from a huge raid
and managed to loot much treasures home. Thus, she was named Tarra, meaning Bringer of
Treasure. And how the treasure was obtained, was by the slaying and killing of many who
guarded them.

In her cradle, Tarra's parents' placed a poisoned dagger, and a sharp two-edged sword, swearing
their daughter's life to assassination and success. From a young age, she was put under strenous
and vigourous training in the martial arts of the assassins. Small mistakes were severely punished,
and excellent executions were sparsely and rarely rewarded. Her parents claimed that if she
could not stand such tough training, she was never going to make it as a good assassin, and
would fail herself, for even tiny mistakes could mean death for her.

She accompanied her parents on her first assassination when she was ten, and her fear was
ruthlessly suppressed within her heart, for she was taught that emotion could kill unless
under strict control at all times. They slew the Elven Lord of Darsylon and his wife and
those under his roof, and looted much from their grand elven home, for elves such as him
would surely have great treasures under his roof. It was also the first time Tarra was praised
more than sparesely by her parents and she felt proud.

As the years went by, Tarra became more and more accustomed and skilled, to be on par
with her mother and father. Without question, she would follow them on all their raids and
assassin jobs, and acquired much loot and victory for them. She was her parents' Bringer of
Treasure.

One day, when Ginharq was walking through the woods on her way home from the city,
she found an old man who was half-dead lying a distance away from the path, moaning
in pain with blood crusted in his beard and soaked by his shirt. She walked over casually
and searched the man for any gold he may have on him. She found no gold, but a jade
bracelet wrapped carefully with thick cloth and unmarred by anything within his clothes.
Examining it closely, she deemed it of poor quality and of little worth.

Snorting, she questioned him roughly as to who had robbed him and left him to die as
such. He could hardly speak, but all he muttered was, "My love...It is safe..my love..my love..
It is safe..My love." And attempted feebly to wrestle the bracelet away from Tarra despite
his pathetic state.
