Ginharq Blaenah the High Sorceress of the Arcane, Defender of Halflings

Description

The days of her youth seem to be captured with her age, being a much
matured version of the same girl many many years ago. Her hair is still
in that medium shade of blue she so favoured in her youth, and it does
suit her colour-shifting, mainly gray eyes very well. The thick fringe
that encrusted her right forehead, still does so. The tattoo on the
back of her left palm of the sun drawn majestically in a blue like that
of her hair and dusted lightly in gold, is still as prominent as ever,
and very clear when she grips her weapon. It still reminds her of the
war she has to fight despite her age. Of late, dark circles seem to rim
her eyes, and she seems more frail and gaunt. Yet, you still notice
her athletic figure there. Within her notorious eyes, something seems to
be missing, and something else seems to be there. It is as if she felt
empty in some way, and anger and grief raged in twin ferocity within.

Ginharq's Story Part I
Added Fri Nov 12 01:50:30 2004 at level 4:

Born and bred by assassins, Ginharq was a child accustomed to war, stealth and and death.
Her parents were merciless and cruel mercenary killers, who killed as gold was proffered.
The night on which she was given birth to, her father had just returned from a huge raid
and managed to loot much treasures home. Thus, she was named Tarra, meaning Bringer of
Treasure. And how the treasure was obtained, was by the slaying and killing of many who
guarded them.

In her cradle, Tarra's parents' placed a poisoned dagger, and a sharp two-edged sword, swearing
their daughter's life to assassination and success. From a young age, she was put under strenous
and vigourous training in the martial arts of the assassins. Small mistakes were severely punished,
and excellent executions were sparsely and rarely rewarded. Her parents claimed that if she
could not stand such tough training, she was never going to make it as a good assassin, and
would fail herself, for even tiny mistakes could mean death for her.

She accompanied her parents on her first assassination when she was ten, and her fear was
ruthlessly suppressed within her heart, for she was taught that emotion could kill unless
under strict control at all times. They slew the Elven Lord of Darsylon and his wife and
those under his roof, and looted much from their grand elven home, for elves such as him
would surely have great treasures under his roof. It was also the first time Tarra was praised
more than sparesely by her parents and she felt proud.

As the years went by, Tarra became more and more accustomed and skilled, to be on par
with her mother and father. Without question, she would follow them on all their raids and
assassin jobs, and acquired much loot and victory for them. She was her parents' Bringer of
Treasure.

One day, when Ginharq was walking through the woods on her way home from the city,
she found an old man who was half-dead lying a distance away from the path, moaning
in pain with blood crusted in his beard and soaked by his shirt. She walked over casually
and searched the man for any gold he may have on him. She found no gold, but a jade
bracelet wrapped carefully with thick cloth and unmarred by anything within his clothes.
Examining it closely, she deemed it of poor quality and of little worth.

Snorting, she questioned him roughly as to who had robbed him and left him to die as
such. He could hardly speak, but all he muttered was, "My love...It is safe..my love..my love..
It is safe..My love." And attempted feebly to wrestle the bracelet away from Tarra despite
his pathetic state.

Ginharq's Story Part II
Added Fri Nov 12 01:53:41 2004 at level 4:

"Tell me what this is, man!" Tarra spat and kicked him in his ribs. He groaned, but still tried to
get the bracelet back from Tarra. "What sort of treasure is that, that your life is worth so
little compared to it. I can break your neck easily the way you are, and all you care about is to
retrieve this pathetic piece of jade from me. Eh, man? What is this?" She poked him hard. "Come
on. Speak, man."

Looking her straight in her eyes, it was strange he was not disturbed or shocked when they
changed from a dark green to red. "Young lady.." He whispered. "Dear young lady..Please..bury
me with this..please..bury me with it...It is Ilyaha's bracelet..her bracelet..my love..her bracelet..
I have nothing left of her..nothing..save this bracelet..my love, my love...." And he breathed his
last, eyes wide open.

Tarra grunted and cursed the man for wasting her time, stood up, tossed the bracelet away and
continued to walk home. This death was different however, it made her nervous for some
strange reason. After a few quick steps, she turned and looked at the man now dead. His eyes.
They were open, and they were looking straight at her. She gasped and stumbled before cursing
herself. "What is wrong with me." She uttered. "I've seen death worse than this." She proceeded
to walk again, but something compelled her to stop and look at the man again.

Grumbling, she walked back to him and dragged him away. Digging a hole in the earth with her
bare hands, she dumped him in it together with the bracelet. She stumbled backwards when she
saw his eyes close after she had threw the bracelet in with him. He was supposed to be dead.
Shivering for the first time, she hurriedly threw the soil back over his corpse and almost ran
all the way back.

Her parents, to her surprise, did not react when she conveyed the incident to them. Instead, they
chided her for letting her emotions run wild, and repeated that emotion could kill. Tarra apologised
and went off to her room. From that day on, she could not stop thinking about the man and the
bracelet, and it affected her composure and and success seriously, no matter how hard she tried.

Thoughts about how the man loved Ilyaha so much, much more than even his own death, thoughts
about how he only died in peace when his love's last remnant was with him in his own death,
played and replayed in Tarra's mind non-stop, day and night and day. Her dreams were filled with
his eyes and his whispers, her day-dreams (which she seldom had before) were filled with serious
questions about life, death, love, light and evil. About her life, about her 'profession'. She was still
young, and she could be even more successful and known than her parents.

Ginharq's Story Part III
Added Fri Nov 12 01:59:50 2004 at level 4:

Finally, one day, she could take it no longer, and ran away from her grand and beautiful house,
looking frail, gaunt, lacking of much sleep and looking very troubled. She wandered to the
Ruined City, scorned it's poverty, but remained there anyway. Every passerby that passed her
was questioned by her about the questions that played in her mind, to which she had no answers
to herself. She was not very different from a mad woman.

One rainy day, while she sat on the empty streets shivering in the cold, a grand looking knight in
his mid-years rode up the street, armour dented, scabbard empty, face badly bruised. Still, in
looked grand. Tarra did not see him upon his white stallion on the street, but merely drowned
herself in her own misery.

"Young lady." He called up in a precise accent. But Tarra did not hear. "Young lady!" He called
again, before riding up to her. "What are you doing here alone in the cold? Where is your
family?"

She looked up at him, her eyes changing from a dull gray to a pale green. The knight seemed a
little taken aback, and fingered his sword's hilt without knowing he was doing so. She chuckled.
"Emotions, you knight. Don't let it cause your death. My eyes, is it not?" She chuckled again
and attempted to rise to her feet and walk away, muttering under her breath.

Swiftly, he leaped off his horse, unsheathed his steel sword and aimed it at her. Despite her
zombie-like state, she reacted quickly and twisted her body away from the charging sword.
Then she carried out a series of attacks with her fists against him, dodging the sword at the
same time. He stopped. "Who are you, young lady. You fight well for one so young. How old are
you? Fourteen? I see the aura around you lady, it is evil. What have you done, you are still
a child."

She gave him a wry smile. "Tarra Blaenah." She said. "Tarra Blaenah, do you not know her? Her
parents perhaps? Morlan Blaenah. Cyrasa Blaenah. No?" She threw her head back and laughed.

"I don't know them young lady, but I do know that you're going to have to come with me. Come.
And shelter will be yours. Come. And answers you will find by yourself." He did not even wait
for her to reply before mounting his stallion again and riding away slowly, so confident was he
that she would follow.

"I did not say I would come!" She yelled at him. He ignored her. Grunting, she thought for a
moment before deciding to follow him. Perhaps, there will be answers to her questions. Running
after him, she trotted beside his stallion at an easy pace, before he spurred his horse on and
she had to sprint so as not to lose sight of him.

Ginharq's Story Part IV
Added Fri Nov 12 02:04:45 2004 at level 4:

A mighty redhorn gate barred their way. The Maran Tara'bal greeted the knight, but blocked
Tarra's entry. Scowling harshly, she was about to strike the Tara'bal when the knight blocked her
punch. "I wouldn't incur his wrath if I were you." He said simply. She allowed her fist to drop
by her side.

He whispered something in the Tara'bal's ear and the Tara'bal nodded slightly. "All can be saved."
Was all he said and nodded at Tarra, allowing her entry. She followed the knight in, and a beautiful
lady was meditating within in the Hall of the Acolytes. "Maghrah." The knight spoke gently. She
opened her eyes and smiled. She nodded at the knight and turned her attention to Tarra.

"Dear child, you are terribly wet. Come with me." She said in a soft, motherly tone, something
Tarra has never heard before in her entire sixteen years. The lady brought her some fresh if
simple clothes and made Tarra change. To Tarra's surprise, the lady was not at all perturbed by
her colour-shifting eyes.

"You are not afraid of my eyes?" Tarra inquired with surprise. "Your eyes?" The lady said. "Why,
they are so lovely indeed. Why should they bother me?"

"Look again, lady." Tarra insisted.

The lady smiled while looking her straight in the eyes. "I wouldn't be surprised if Toivan here was
unnerved by your eyes." She said with a slightly mischievous grin. "But to me, they are very
beautiful. They are different, but still beautiful."

Tarra was greatly surprised. Her eyes had caused many to attack her before, mistaking her for
some sort of demon. "A gift from the heavens." Was all Maghrah said.

From that day on, Tarra remained with Maghrah and Toivan. Toivan was out frequently, and
returned looking bedraggled but victorious all the time. "The shadows must fall." He said with
fervour. "The innocent must be protected. May the evil be redeemed."

Maghrah on the other hand, spent much time within the Fortress guiding the young scribes and
squires, and travelled frequently to the Inn to share with others about the Light. It was through
Maghrah and Toivan's guidings that Tarra finally renounced the path that she had walked since
birth, and insisted that Maghrah change her name to something that wasn't filled with greed.
Thus, Tarra was 'reborn' in a way, and was named Ginharq, Bringer of Light. Ginharq embraced
her name whole-heartedly. She wanted to break all ties with her parents as well by changing her
last name, but Maghrah told her not to, that all could be saved, and family was to be saved and
not rejected.

Ginharq's Story Part V
Added Fri Nov 12 02:07:19 2004 at level 4:

One night, the Fortress was roused as there was an attack by the Empire. Ginharq aided in the fight
but alas, it was that very night that the grand knight Toivan breathed his very last. Angered by
death the first time in her life, she fought the Imperials even more ruthlessly and viciously. Maghrah
was nearby, healing those who could be healed, but knew that nothing could be done for Toivan.

Finally, the attack was suppressed and the Imperials ran away after a few of their numbers fell.
"Why!" Ginharq cried into Maghrah's bloodied dress. "Why! Why does it hurt so much, Maghrah, why?
Death has never affected me in such a way before." She sniffed as tears streamed down her dusty
cheeks.

"We all die, Ginharq." Maghrah responded gently. "Toivan has gone to be in the Azure Fields, where
Light reigns eternal, and not a glimpse of shadow is seen. He breathed his last in protection of what
is good. He died in his beliefs. This is how he swore to die, and he has. We should be proud of him."

Pushing Maghrah away, Ginharq said amidst sobs, "He was a good man. He didn't deserve death."

"No Ginharq, he did not deserve it. He earned it."

"I have slain many innocent before I came to the Light. Babes even. Because I was greedy, greedy
for more gold when I have enough. Greedy for more treasures! I wanted all these things for myself!
And the innocent suffered. They died worthlessly, like Toivan."

"Toivan died a glorious death, Ginharq. And what is passed is passed. Now that you embrace the
Light, atone for your past mistakes, serve the Light and save those innocent from such as those
like you before rebirth."

Ginharq looked into Maghrah's eyes for a long time, before wiping her tears away and nodded.
"Emotion will not rule me. I will control it against the shadows. I will let wrath overwhelm me,
in the Light and against the Shadows. Maghrah, I want to be a squire."

Maghrah smiled. "I had hoped you would choose the path of the Acolytes after all I've shared
with you." She chuckled in amusement. "But the path of the Marans, yes, it is good too, and we
cannot do without them. I shall not bring you into the Fortress, you will earn the place yourself.
Speak to the Captain or Marshall, and tell him why you seek what you now seek."

Ginharq nodded firmly. "I will leave the Fortress now. But rest assured, to it I will return and
dedicate my life to. The Light I now serve. Let us bury Toivan."

And together with Maghrah, Ginharq buried Toivan near the Fortress and all within it came for
his funeral, which spurred them furthur to serve and fight for the Light. Ginharq stood there alone
after they had all left, and whispered to his grave, "I will take your place Toivan. I will remember
you and your fight. I want to die like you." And she got up and left, her eyes changing from blue
to gray, not a spot of emotion on her face save for a hint of anger. The sky was barely broken,
but the orange sun was already rising with haste.

+ The Time Has Come
Added Fri Nov 19 00:51:29 2004 at level 38:

"How could that be?" Ginharq thought to herself. "A Lord of Light gone from the realms? Gone
for good in this world? How could that be?" Inside, Ginharq's heart was in turmoil, for she had
just discovered something of great importance, and it was related to this mighty Lord Vynmylak.

Ginharq had vowed to take the fallen Maran Toivan's place when she buried him, and recently,
she discovered whose tattoo he actually bore on his right palm - none other than the mighty
Lord of Rage, Honour and War. It was something that had played in Ginharq's mind for years,
yet as she was never a Lightwalker til' recent years, did not know that Lord Vynmylak's tattoo
was the one Toivan wore.

The moment she knew, was around the time that the Lord departed from the realms. "Gone!
Gone! To condemnation! Everything is lost!" She heard the innocent wailing in the Ruined
City which she currently calls home. Travelling to the centre of all trade and the world, she
heard similar cries. "Fallen! The Light has fallen! Hope has departed, the shadows now reign!"
And in Udgaard, the cries made her boil with anger within, "The Light is weakened! It is not
long! Not long! Before the Shadows we worship reign!"

How could the people say such a thing? Did they not know there were other Lords of the Light
who continued to vigilantly watch over the people and the lands? Rage boiled fiercely within
her converted heart, and she realised something - That it was of vital importance and urgency
that she earned her place as squire soonest.

She may be fighting the same war as they do, without, yet still, she was not bonded to the
symbol and stronghold which the Lords of Light called their ground. She is of little use
when the Holy Orb is put under the guard of filthy Imperials, for the Orb would not return to
it's rightful place even if she, in her current strength, managed to fall the Vanquisher in one way
or another.

Neither was she yet bonded to the brethren that resided within the sombre Gray Halls. For their
angels could harm her, even if they were also of the Light, and she was not within the trust of
the cabal, where she could word the Fortress dwellers without the trust of all. With the additional
news of Lord Vynmylak's departure, it was too long she realised. There was no Captain or
Marshall, and who knew when they would be appointed? Too long, too long, she decided to
seek the Lord Shokai out for acceptance within the Gray Halls, fully sworn to them and the Light,
and defeat evil where it stood. She would seek him out, she would, with hands stained with the
blood of the tainted.

Squire Training Begins
Added Fri Dec 3 02:28:57 2004 at level 48:

With the Holy Orb in it's rightful place once again, the Marshall Shisi sat down with Ginharq
right outside the red gates of the Fortress, and interviewed her for application as squire. After
of Light. It was a grand day for Ginharq, for her deepest desire ever since she came to the
Light, was to train as a squire and eventually become Maran, a warrior of Light.

The newly inducted squire Ahelun, on his light feet, showed Ginharq the place she had dwelled
in for some time in her youth. The place reminded her fondly of Toivan and Maghrah, the harmony
of Maran and Acolyte. She sat to meditate on the books in the Hall of Light, and it felt so good
to her, to finally be within walls of brethren with like minds, safe, and serving the Light together.

"I have earned my place, Acolyte Maghrah. I have taken your place, Maran Toivan." She said
softly after she had meditated on the books of light. With that, she stood up and prepared for war
on the Scions at Marshall Shisi's calling.

War is war. There is no such thing as fair. There is only winning, or loosing. And there is mercy.
And why is life unfair? Because life is war. Ginharq had chosen only one path, and that was the
the path of victory. Show no quarter to the vile taint. Press on fierce and hard, and defend with
equal ferocity. There is another way to cleanse the taint, and it was the Acolytes' way. But that
was not Ginharq's way. She would fight in the frontlines, she would defeat the taint with the
strength of the Light.

The Loss Of A Dearest Friend
Added Sat Mar 5 06:18:22 2005 at level 51:

The Captain Iramath handed his longspear to Ginharq solemnly, and neither
her, nor Icthaen, nor Ahelun, could believe their eyes. "Captain..?" Ginharq
inquired, dreading the worst. The Captain looked at her, and told her that
he would like to spend his remaining mortal days in peace, perhaps fishing
on an island with many big blues west of the western aryth. And then, he
was gone. Ginharq's childhood and best friend, gone. She could not believe
what it had come to.

She traversed the wild western aryth madly in search of the island, but
could not even catch a glimpse of the quiet little isle. She swore to find
it in this life, and strangle the captain when she did. Her grief was
translated to anger, and it boiled within her furiously.

Carrying the 'Seeker' with her close to her heart always, she journeys the
lands in grief and anger, the captain never far from her heart and mind. She
prays very hard, that when she leaves the realms for a rest, it will not
disappear. Buried with it she wanted to be, just like the man whom she met
in her childhood, who died fully only when his lover's bracelet was buried
with him. Perhaps when the spear was buried with her in death, someone else
come to Light peacefully. It would be an eerie legacy as of such.

"Captain, captain." Ginharq whispered into the cold winds of the western
aryth as it moaned wistfully in the darkness, echoeing the pain in Ginharq's
heart. She got to her feet and narrowed her eyes. She would fight this war
til she breathed no more, she had a duty to fulfil. And if she had to do it
in tears and grief, she would. Yes, she would. She prays that the
Lord Skyborn would allow her to hold on to the Captain's spear, even
if she does not deserve to.

Dark Hearted Matters
Added Sun Jan 2 00:54:20 2005 at level 51:

Ginharq downed another mug of cheap dwarven ale. She could not think straight,
and the issue of her parents' salvation kept surfacing and bothering her. Now, the
lands knew from which family she hailed from. What if someone recognised her
and her deeds in the past? How should she react? Afterall, she had repented and
is now a whole-hearted soldier of the Sun.

Besides, her parents were still shadow hearts. The sort of mortals whom she hunted
and killed to protect the innocent from. She has not a drop of desire within her
to slay them. They, afterall, were her flesh and blood. How could she be so merciless
and cold? If they would not come to the Light if spoken to kindly and showered with
mercy, she would have to fall them. They were dark friends! They were tainted! They
hunted and slayed the innocent for material worth! But she could not. She just could
not bear to end their lives.

Feeling down and confused, she trudged back to the Fortress with a heavy heart.
Perhaps her brethren would have an idea. Perhaps her brethren could help her out.
Afterall, the entire Fortress was one family with one cause. They will definitely help
her sort this issue out. That made her heart lighter. Just a little bit.

Spies Part I
Added Sun Jan 2 00:56:22 2005 at level 51:

On the issue of spies, Ginharq believes strongly that they are a vital part within an
army's ranks. For spies could relay important information on the enemy and their
plans, and if used well, can defeat the enemy easily, or bring down one that was
stronger than the average person.

She, however, is highly concerned about the hearts of the spies, and wishes not
at all for them to fall over to the shadows' side, having to stand so close to it. She
thus set herself up as something of an 'Acolyte' to the spies, whose duty was to
ensure that their brethren did not fall over to the taint having to fight so close to it.
She will check on the status of the spies constantly, to ensure that their hearts do not
become filled with darkness, and to make sure that they are not her own enemies'
spies in reality.

She refuses to accept any spy of dark heart, for such is to be hunted down and of
all evil, harder and faster. For if her enemies' spies received information about her,
her battle plans and of those of the Light, they too could deal devastating blows to
the army of Light. Thus, enemy spies had to be destroyed fast, fear them, or, the
best, to be converted to her side. For such converted spies were the most useful,
having more trust with the enemy as compared to others'.

To her, gray hearted spies were the best, for such were not tainted and yet, could
penetrate enemy circles with a certain amount of ease. However, light hearted spies
were of all, most trustworthy and loyal. Weighing the pros and cons, she decided
to set up a network of spies who would work for the cause of the Fortress and to
aid the Light. She isn't sure what she can offer them however, for not everyone could
be paid with mere gold pieces (and not like she had very many). Some, perhaps, had
even more gold than she herself. She will spend some time acquainting herself with
her gray and light hearts first, and see if they could be trusted to be a spy within the
network.

She knows that status can bring people to this network, and thus, decided to call the
network the 'Shadow of the Sun', which reminded them of their work, and whom they
worked for. Perhaps some would join simply to aid the Light and the war that would
one day end in true victory. Yet, she knew, many, especially gray hearts, did not really
care about this war and needed to be paid something, for their time and services.

Spies Part II
Added Sun Jan 2 00:58:26 2005 at level 51:

She will speak with some travellers to see what they liked and what they were willing
to work for. She will also speak with some of her trusted brethren in the Brigade and
perhaps they can come up with an ingenious payment system.

The terms for the spies' work, she reckons, would mainly comprise of these information :

For enemy warriors : Their weapons of choice and their specialisations.

For enemy mages : What spells, and how well, they knew their chants. What spells they
favoured in the heat of battle.

For enemy priests : Whom their lord or lady is, if unknown. And perhaps an Acolyte could
be sent to speak and understand them better, for Acolytes were better versed in religions,
and perhaps bring these fallen to the Light.

For every single enemy :
1.The way they preferred to fight in warfare, be it brazen attacks, or a fluid shadow.
2.The strength of their current status, how many hits it would take to bring them down,
how well they fought.
3.Their strengths in every area of warfare.
4.Their weaknesses and vulnerabilities in every area of warfare.
5.Their knowledge of terrain.
6.If they were more of a leader, or a follower, if there wasn't a choice.
7.Their habits, favourite places to visit, quirks, speech, and they way they thought and
behaved.
8.Their tricks and secrets.
9.Their battle plan at current if any.

This was tricky business she knew. Yet, it was an important aspect in warfare and
to her, should not be left out. Some may question her on it, some may call it
deception and using others for her own gain. Yet, she knows that if one holds honour in
too high a regard, one will be easily taunted and broken by the enemy. She does not
regard her network as a deception, but another fraction of the army. She will not compel
or force any single being to work for her, but will be a partner with them all on an
individual basis to ensure strength in mind and heart, and to work together for the victory
of the Light. If any wished to leave the network, they will have to swear secrecy, but are
allowed to go. For none should be forced to work, even for the Light. All must do so
out of their own wills.

To know self, was to win half the battle already, as many knew. To know the enemy and
terrain, the other half. To improve the chances against the enemy, it was necessary to
know them well, yet conceal the status of self from them. And thus, it is absolutely
vital, for the victory of the Light and protection of the peoples, to employ the aid of
worthy spies.

Lessons by Elriel
Added Wed Jan 19 10:52:55 2005 at level 51:

In focussed combat against shadow, Ginharq had forgotten what she told the
lady Elriel from Darsylon - to teach the spells, namely mass bioluminescence and mass
decalcify, to others of her guild to combat the encroaching tide of shadow. Having
been reminded of it one day, she feels horribly ashamed at how she can forget such
an important task set before her. For indeed, the war she fought was important,
but these spells, when taught to the right persons, could combat the shadow as
a greater strength, and not a singular one. Eager to make amends to her
broken words, she set about finding transmuters of a good heart, and teaching
them just as the lady had taught. A young transmuter has seen the spells now, and will
meditate on them furthur. Hopefully, more of the Light will learn these spells, and
with them, to use against the defeat of the shadows.

Enlightenment from the Prophet
Added Sun Jan 30 01:08:13 2005 at level 51:

Accept these stats? ime in the war, and asked the Prophet Kalumgar
to advise her regarding the matter on her parents. It had been in her heart for a
very long time now, and with each passing day, weighed her down by a lot.
Relating to him about her past, and what was in her heart, the Prophet listened
to her calmly and patiently, and watched with eyes that said they would help in
any way possible.

The wise Prophet truly lives up to his name, Ginharq thought to herself. The
Protector of Faith, and that was what he had protected of her. He explained to
her his views of the wrath of the Skyborn, and how much the Skyborn pains
over the corpses slain. He explained that Ginharq didn't have to slay her parents
for being shadowhearts, but try to convince them of what is right in the
Acolyte ways. For fighting for the Light in the Brigade did not mean killing your
folks just because they walked in shadow, and he told her that the Skyborn would
not want her to slay her kin either. Instead, he advised her to leave the matter to the
Phoenix Lord, and do what she can in the meantime.

He also explained to her about them being like pieces on a chessboard. Each piece
on the chessboard, it occured to Ginharq, was there by choice. It was by choice that
she chose to fight in the Brigade. Yet, each piece has it's place and duty. The Lord
Skyborn was the chessmaster against the Shadow, and he moved the pieces in the most
right and possible ways. Each soldier had a different duty and task, yet the one goal
of defeating the opponent. Each soldier is to be used differently and in the best way
possible, for a bishop cannot move like a knight, and vice versa. Each piece must
follow the pattern it was created for, in order to win the battle fully and beautifully.

Ginharq smiled widely. It felt good that this burden was now answered within her heart.
She hopes that her parents will repent, and that one day in the Azure Fields, they will
be the true family they never was.

Defender of Halflings
Added Fri Feb 4 12:59:39 2005 at level 51:

The citizen trembled before Captain Iramath and Ginharq, and with wide eyes,
pleaded for help from the Protectors of Light. "Gnashers, bogans, blackwater
swamp" were all words that sprouted fearfully out of the halfling's mouth. The
Cardinal Jezerael entered the realms, and the Captain gathered both her and
Ginharq, and followed the citizen, all three of them determined to end the terror
that was plagueing the peaceful halfling village.

The set foot within the murky swamps near the halfling lands, and out of their
hiding the gnashers attempted to spill their blood. Steadfast the three of them
stood, and defeated the evil down to their last breaths. The sight of the corpses
of babies, eyes wide open and staring helplessly, pitifully, made anger burn
strongly within Ginharq's heart. Who would do such a vile thing to those that
didn't know what was right and wrong, who had no strength or mind to protect
themselves? Truly, it pained Ginharq right to the core of her heart.

After a long search and battle, they finally found the tree where the black annises,
the black annie, who was the mastermind behind all the bloodshed and vile deeds.
Once again, they battled many bogans and gnashers, cutting them down slowly
but steadily. Then, they encountered the two black annises and the vampire at the
feast. It was a very long and tiring battle, with no rest and no retreat, but finally,
shadow was defeated and to their feet they collapsed, weary, worn, and victorious.

"We have done it." The Cardinal proclaimed victorious. "We have, yes we have." The
Captain echoed, on his knees and spear raised above him as if an offering to their Lord
Skyborn. Ginharq collapsed to the ground, her staff beside her knees, and panting
slowly. Her eyes hinted heavily of tiredness, and sweat glistened on her forehead and
clung to her clothes and armor. Yet, no matter how tired they were, they all were glad
that victory for this battle was theirs and the Light's, and that now, the halflings were
safe from such evilness.

In obvious joy for the citizens, they got to their feet and exited the hell hole. "Place
the heads of these we have slain up on your village entrances, and the gnashers will
never bother you again." They told the joyous citizens. Together, they hurried back
to their one home, already preparing for the next battle, in hope that they lived to
see another battle, for the end.

The Toll Of War
Added Sat Mar 12 04:04:58 2005 at level 51:

The war was taking its toll on Ginharq's weary body, and age was catching
up with her. The sharp bursts of fire and zeal from her youth was still
there, but burned with a steady flame instead. Many years of fighting
in the war has harded her in a way, and softened her in a way as well.

The toll of lives from the war was immense. Captain Iramath, brother
Sydrian, brother Ahelun, brother Hanos, amongst many other soldiers who
had given their lives up in protection of what is right and good. Nowa-
days, Ginharq visits Lord Shokai's temple frequently. Ironically, it
is the only place where she can find some peace and tranquility from the
ferocity and bitterness of war and death.

Young soldiers were still recruited for the eternal war, and she was
glad to see the light burning so strongly in such individuals. Once, she
was one of these young soldiers who had heard the calling and taken it
up. Now, she was older, had seen so much in this war, experienced so much,
and the pains of it were etched ever clearly in her heart. Yet, fight on she
knew she must, for she had sworn to do so, to allow the civilians some
peace from the vileness of the taint. How could she turn her back on those
whom she had promised to protect? So no matter how weary and hurt she felt,
she still fights on with all the strength she can muster from her old body.

Her father had by now passed away, spending his eternal days in the fiery
pits of hell. He had refused to listen, no matter how many times she tried
to preach the good word to him. This saddens her greatly, adding the wrinkles
and eyebags to her physical form. Yet her mother still had breath in her,
and Ginharq hopes she would listen to the word, and spend the days in the
azure fields admiring the fields and sun with her, with no more strife, grief
or anguish.

Ginharq's heart has hardened by what she has seen. The death, the hate, the
fear, the doubts, the strife, the deception. Especially the deaths of her
comrades and friends. She has steeled herself to much of the pain, even after
all these years spent walking the Light, her nurturing from her younger years
of suppression of emotion was still strong in her. Many a times, for the sake
of the morale of her brethren, she puts on a brave front and smiles, yet,
inside, her sorrows are endessly carved on the core of her heart.

Spy Issue Halted
Added Sat Mar 12 05:20:45 2005 at level 51:

"What would the other Lightwalkers think of us?", "The spies are not part
of the Brigade, they don't have to place their lives on enemy grounds and lose
them." were among some reasons why Ginharq stopped any ideas of the spy network
that had been swimming in her mind. Although there were agreements too, those
who said "It is a good idea to know the enemy.", "The information will be useful
in this war." and such. Yet if some brothers were against the idea, Ginharq did
not wish to press on it, for the Fortress was first place, and all within
were brethren who worked and fought together. No issues and disagreements should
break them from their goals and focusses. Thus, Ginharq sets about to gather
information about the enemy from those who had combatted them before, and
from those who had walked briefly with them. She would not delve furthur on
the issue of a dangerous spy network, and like what some of her brothers were
so vehement about, placing civilian lives on the front line of fire. She would
do her own snooping if need be, yet like how some brothers said, in ways upright,
that the world can see clearly, and victorious.

I can't say I'm very fond of her "slang" speech, it seems too modern for the CF world and kinda grates. but at least she's consistant.
