Chapter 1

Dupayne's trail went cold on Thera for some time, apart from a
number of uncomfirmed reports of a pirate mage with a heavily
scarred face who served with a captain operating out of V'Dramir's
Cove. Nine years after he fled Loch Grymnear, Dupayne turned up
in Seantryn Modan, the large city on the extreme south-eastern tip
of Thera. It was rumored that he had been spending his time with
the master necromancer of the city, learning the nuances of his
black art and had found a new home in his chambers. He had
learned about the Becoming and the transition into the undead.
The Lich, the Vampire and the Mummy. With his newfound wisdom
came a newfound dark desire. A desire that was with him day
and night, never leaving him, tormenting his dreams, riddling his
thoughts. He could taste blood on his lips and he liked it.

It was a cold night and after much bloodshed that Dupayne's goal
was about to become more real. A voice beckoned him to a hidden
shrine where at his mind and soul was evaluated. He could feel
the Muse eating away his outer shell to peer deep within his being.
Destiny was with him that night and a life of pain was promised.
The Muse left Dupayne with a deep, bloody wound from her teeth,
a wound that refuses to close to this day as a reminder of who he
is and what it is that awaits him. The scar looks remarkably like
the outline of a bloody, waxing moon, almost as if the Muse used
his face as a canvas for her art. He was also left as a dreaded
servant of the Eternal Night. His desire for unholy power and death
had just grown tenfold.
