#21990, "Disappearing black rod"

I was fighting Kiendosi and a conjurer mob at the same time. Kiendosi had my black rod.
I was using pillar of lightning, hitting both, and directly targeting the conjurer mob, not Kiendosi.
When Kiendosi fell, the black rod did not appear (I suspect because I was not targeting him directly).
Bug?
