Cotzibue utters the words, 'disruption'.
You manage to reflect Cotzibue's spell back at her!
You have not mastered the black arts enough to disrupt Cotzibue.

Cotzibue and I learned very quickly what worked and didn't work against each other. In our case the only damage we could do to each other short of items was chill touch (and zombies).

I used dispel magic to get her into combat again before she could teleport since she was cursed. And if she fled again she had a 60% shot of fleeing into something that would attack her. And if I got wraithform then she could only flee in one direction and I would be able to chase immediately (1 round spell).

If I had used chill touch it could have set off her wimpy and not killed her and then I'd be a full round behind her.

So yeah if my alias had been set right (I'm a moron) she'd probably have died there.

I recall Frismund and Ahtiehli fighting, and they had no problem using it on one another. But that was lich vs. mummy, so was that the reason? You can't disrupt the type of negative energies you use yourself?

Not that I imagine this is a frequent scenario where two undeads fight, but is there something that needs to be present in order to allow it to go through?

Cause I can't imagine what necessary skill Tavlin, or Cotzibue for that matter, would not have had mastered.

...the first time I did it to a level 47 Cotzibue mummy. So surprised that I didn't even notice in the fight and tried a couple more times. Only when I reviewed the log later did I realize I got that message.

You can't disrupt your own undead type.

Lich on Lich disruption. You guys change something in the last couple years (this was from 2000)? Or was it just a phylactery Zorszaul had that allowed him to disrupt his own undead type?

I'm sorry if I called you a n00b for no reason, I just remember both of the logs I posted as a reason to use disruption if I ever fought another undead if by chance I'd ever get lucky enough to lich/mummy.

It has either been changed (quite possible, since in 2000 there were no mummies) or Liches have always been able to disrupt any other undead and mummies can only disrupt liches.

But trust me - after the fight I made sure disruption was perfected and when I saw that it was I asked Zulg if it was a bug and he said mummies can only disrupt liches (and I thought he said liches can only disrupt mummies but I could be remembering wrong on that because I didn't really give a FF at that point).

It's exactly what I (and Tavlin) was saying. And still am saying to this day. For one, you were a defender so there was never any guarantee I'd fight you solo. For two by this point Tavlin had somewhat of a reputation (not nearly as big as it got, but still a little) as a hunter, and I found myself fighting one guy only to get jumped on by another one or two frequently. Villagers and non.

I had three Fort (who were raiding) in range, and Villagers had just gotten me. I was busy creating flesh golems and ghouls, walking to Mortorn, summoning said flesh golem and ghoul inside, talking to level 17 Cotzibue, etc. so no, I didn't enumerate that it was Olum, in Arkham, with the Pincer.

You seem pretty defensive about this - let me clear the air a bit - out of what seemed like a lot of gank-happy Villagers, it was surprising (and refreshing) that Olum, as a *Defender*, was one of the most concerned about the odds being even. It didn't seem like many of you were, at all, but Olum did stand out as one who at least paid some sort of attention to it. Even if accidents did happen, still.

Under the commander we had, parity was stressed. I don't believe that as a defender Olum was exempt. Also, I didn't have many non-berserkers to gang with, so it was easier to just not gang.

I am a bit defensive mostly because I expected better from Tavlin than to speak as if all villagers were gank happy, but I think that might be a bit of Twist (the person) bleeding through. I played a few ragers in a row and it gets really old being constantly accused of ganging, especially from a respected enemy, but doubly so when you know you are going out of your way to NOT gang (and subsequently you die horribly to Chulun over and over.)

No need to respond, I just wanted it to be clear why I was defensive.

One thing I've noticed about myself and tried to curb (but it is hard) is I will generally point out "crap" (to use a generic term such as Imperials attacking in towns, Tribs giving out poor warrants, rager berserkers ganking, Outlanders running past a dwarf paladin to strike an evil human uncaballed shifter, etc.) to the ones who are probably *also* doing a facepalm at that moment, as opposed to the actual offender.

So it is quite likely that I talked to Olum about some ganktasticnessocity when really Olum was probably fine but it was some other rager who jumped on his kill (me).

But yeah it might have been some of the player bleeding through.

1. It's a one-round-lag spell. Vamp is 2, pwk 3 I think.
2. He was unsanced, so I knew if I could get my truckload of undead meat to beat on him he'd be dead or wimpy after 1 round (see 1.)
3. It does *decent* damage and relatively consistently. Maims is about the low end you'd usually see with it. Chill touch will sometimes do "injures", sometimes MASSACRES (or higher).

I didn't really do it for any other reason than to cause damage with a 1 round spell. Chill touch would have worked fine too, but I had an alias for ghoulish numbing.

Oh and as for energy drain since he was sleeping if he saved against it he'd still be sleeping and I'd be lagged for a round with no undead beating on him.

As far as I know (from experience as Tavlin, not from seeing the code), Zombie General gives the necro a chance, each round, for each zombie, to redirect to what the Necro is swinging at.

So if you're fighting the Massive Giant and a rager comes and attacks you and you redirect, your zombies don't all suddenly redirect at him (which is what I thought would happen when I first took the edge, IMAGINE MY SURPRISE heh).

However, each round there's a chance (on each zombie, I think) for it to redirect to the rager.

It's a highly useful edge during raid situations. It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

seriously though i did try to use it against you a few times and almost got it to work once...(i think i got you to writhing/vulsing at the D before the tick and you got to flee) the second time I was getting it to work your pet made the destructor flee but you left me alone after that and reported the bug

seriously though good char and honestly i am a fan of only killing your range once per login unless they come for it, thanks for not con killing me hahahah
