Thrugald Holdfast the Legend of the Battlefield

Chapter 3

He is easily distracted and often forgets he is in the company of others.
This is due as much to his upbringing and temperment as the offer of
immortality.

He began training with the staff, thinking it foolish that someone would use
anything other than these weapons. As his travels continued, though, his
companions lead to him take up the polearm. While he enjoys being able to
lead charges for the friends he makes, battle does not, in itself, hold much
appeal to him.

He mentions the offer of immortality to few now, after seeing the wide range
of reactions he has gotten. Though, he is always eager to speak of the topic
with his companions, in hypothetical situations.

He has wandered to the library of Yanoreth. This first exposure to Herself
was interesting, and he is not sure what to make of it yet.

He holds a special dislike for orcs, minotaurs and necromancers. He finds
himself called to the Outlanders of Thar-Eris, but is not sure if he would
fit them well.

He likes to spend much time alone, lumbering through forests, plains, and all
manner of environments deep in his own thoughts.

Chapter 4

On the day before the day it happened, Thrugald was completely content to
swim in the depths of the ocean his family lived in.

On the day before the day it happened, Thrugald had no plans to ever leave
his home.

But on the day it happened, he came home from harvesting kelp to find his
father distraught and a strange, glowing woman beside him.

"Harummm," he said to himself as he often did when pausing to think or
surprised. His father still would not speak and the woman turned to him.
She explained that his mother had died saving her, and that she had no way to
pay his family back.

"Garumm." Well, almost no way.She could offer him an immortal life, below
the gods but to live forever if he wished it. Her pale skin shone and the
icey blue robes swirled around her as she left, saying she must give Thrugald
time to think.

"You cannot do this!" his father warned him, fear washing over his previously
gentle face.

So, on the day after the day it happened, Thrugald left to go see what the
world offered above the waves.

Chapter 1

He declined the offer of immortality after much time spent deciding. Further
comment on that in another entry.

He has gradually been shifting from Chaotic Good to True Neutral. It is
something recognized by him, and much-pondered. Further info in a future
role entry.

His last name, Holdfast, is the name for a part of seaweed that attaches the
plant to its anchor. His family were kelp harvesters.

His tactical strategy in combat and interpersonal conflict can be illustrated
by the warning he once gave a foe: I will overwhelm you with patience.

He never chose a second Legacy due to his indecisive nature. He is still
pondering what might best serve him and not prove to be something that will
only aid him in the short term, but for now recognizes the absurdity of the
situation.

He has been in almost constant conflict with Alenysi. This stemmed from an
initial feeling that she felt entitled to more than she deserved, and
continues on to thinking her hasty and more concerned about the Light than the
Ancients. Part of the irrational level of the rancor can be explained as
projecting his inner conflict from the drift away from Good to Neutrality.

Role

Chapter 2

From his efforts to understand his place in the world, he has spoken at
length with others as well as travelling alone. Within him, a respect for
the natural rythyms of Thar-Eris has grown. This (coupled with his ponderous
ways) may make him appear lazy to some, but he takes great pride in his inner
calm.

As well, he has begun to notice that he is greatly drawn to (and possibly
more receptive to) those whose manner of speaking seems to contain an
inherent rythym or elegance as well. He has encountered many such people in
his life, but the most notable ones are Aeria, Ilimya, and Morasfenmire.
